This board is too far gone. Fucking Star Wars retards.
New Paul Thomas Anderson movie out two weeks now
...
I saw it. It's good
Not out here till next week.
He is basically a relic of the white male privilege and the old style of cinema. It just doesn't work anymore or it's dated. I for one am tired of seeing the next 'brooding misunderstood white male' at the center of another PT Anderson flick. There is nothing as embarrassing as 90s 'film auteurs' still making movies today. Wes Anderson, Tarantino, PT Anderson, David Fincher, pick a name out of a hat, they're all embarrassing masters of insincerity.
lmao
This. I live in Dallas and it just came out this past weekend. Give us some time to see the fucking movie.
no screeners, its not playing anywhere
Saw it, can't believe the way it went.
Really good though.
Prepare for asparagus.
>ddl and pta
Finally the kino gods have descended upon us
...
It only started out in like NYC and LA, it won't be released wide till the 18th so almost nobody has seen it yet.
Seeing it tomorrow night. HYPED.
I'm gonna see it Saturday.
Does it have hyperspace ramming?
>multiple threads calling it the best film of 2017
>haven’t seen a single thread
Maybe you don't spend enough time here, normie.
Not been released yet here.
Good troll post, but here's a serious reply to the idea in it regardless:
How come these people who seemingly hate Whites/Europeans and particularly men don't simply watch Chinese or Indian movies? Or are they going to pretend that men haven't always been the face of mankind? Not to say movies about (White) women can't be good, but how on earth can you complain about something like this?
Reddit doesn't appreciate kinos. All their e-celebs that they keeps spamming on Sup Forums think capeshit like Star Wars and Thor Ragnarok were the best movies of 2017
>Wes Anderson
>Insincere
The girl in this is so fucking hot. The film was pretty formulaic though.
I hope it's good, because his last movie fucking sucks
This film reminded me of Silence, it's kino but it will be largely ignored this awards season, hopefully people will appreciate it in the years to come.
Can't really think of a single good pta movie tbqh
I saw it, it's unexpectedly funny - hilarious at parts. But the whole thing is really weird.
I'm waiting for more people to see it so we can discuss DDL's hallucination scene in the middle of the movie because I'm still not sure what we were supposed to learn about his character from that.
Also I thought the entire time it was based on a true story but it isn't.
B8
Beats out Punch-Drunk Love as 3rd best PTA for me. Was absolutely shocked how it was actually a comedy. Expected it to end while he waited for her to say yes to his marriage proposal which would have been amazing, then the next 20 minutes paints the rest of the movie in an entirely different context and I was blown away. And fuck you Johnny Greenwood for not admitting to be a god who walks among us. We all know it anyway.
There Will Be Blood. Despite what people on here think of it here and how devisive he can be here, many directors and critics have it on their top 100 and even 10 all time alongside Kubrick, Ozu and Welles. It will stand the test of time, usually it is film nerds who perpetuate movie mythos and decide what is remembered as art.
Odds I fuck my neighbor over and rip her screener?
He beliebes in ghosts. One of the best scenes in the movie desu. Can't wait to watch again. Jonny Greenwood does amazing work.
Honestly that movie's worth it just for the score. Based Greenwood.
I've seen it though.
It's underwhelming like Inherent Vice. Should see if die-hard PTA fan, but it's not something like The Master of There Will Be Blood
Hi Rian Johnson how's soywars and Kathleens mummymilk taste?
The secret things he hides away in his clothes are ghosts too. Ghosts of him, perhaps. I think it's a little malicious, because the film paints him as being in love with unhappiness, and making other people unhappy is his way of showing affection.
How come he has lost his edge/xfactor from his boogie nights days? Still my favorite movie of his and he has yet to top it.
The master was goat pigfuck/10 but after that it's like he just lost something somewhere
Well seeing as how Inherent Vice is far and away his best film, this excites me
He grew out of his Altman phase. PDL was the transitional film. If you like his earlier work more than his later stuff, you don't like PTA, you like the people he emulated before gaining his own style. There's nothing wrong with liking the people he copied more than him, but don't be mad at PTA for it.
dude
I thought that scene and the whole film were pretty obvious. He's a manchild who hasn't gotten over his mother's death, and he's only in love with Alma when she treats him like a child. I caught this at the start when she wrote "for the hungry boy" on the note, and it's quite clear by the ending.
What a load of crap.
It’s a limited release, isn’t it? At any rate, I don’t go to theaters anymore. So I will wait for the blu-ray which I’ll most likely buy since I own all of PTA’s movies on blu-ray.
Boogie Nights
I picked up on that from other scene. During the hallucination it looked like it was a boy standing there in that dress. Am I insane or what was that supposed to be
That was his mother, she was wearing the wedding dress he made for her, the same one from the painting he shows Alma.
ITT: Liberal arts college
Paul is gonna be on Jimmy Kimmel in an hour if anyone wants to watch.
>Boogie Nights
>There Will Be Blood
>The Master
are all objectivity kino. The Master is probably the best film of this decade. I would argue that PTA has never made a bad movie.
Maybe because he was 27 years old and just ripping off Goodfellas. I’m glad he went into his own direction with Magnolia and everything he’s done since has a unique style that is all his own.
can I go to your house?
I love watching him in his mainstream interviews because you can actually taste how close he holds his filmic autism at bay by literally a breath. I love the man, but he cannot stand to be in front of a camera or talk about himself. He just wants to eat pizza with 50s B-movie stars and talk about how to properly film arthouse pornography.
I rematched inherent vice and I just didn't click with it the same way I did with his older films.
I am positive that's because of the source material and not him as a filmmaker tho
Inherent Vice was kind of a mess. It might be my least favorite from him. The story was really hard to follow, and even with fast-pacing it was pretty boring. Good acting and good cinematography but an overall disappointment.
NEEDED MORE OF THOSE CLASSIC CAR DRIVING SCENES, SHIT WAS DANK
PTA DID HIS OWN CINEMATOGRAPHY, LOOKED SICK IN 70MM FILM
CLEARLY DDLS CHARACTER IS PTA, META AS FUCK, DESIGNER DIRECTOR AUTEUR ETC
BUT HIM KNOWINGLY PLAYING ALONG WITH HER MUNCHAUSEN BY PROXY WAS ABSURD
I just don't remember or care about the characters let alone the story and I've watched that movie 3+ times
oh ok guess I just have dementia
Just saw it and it was pretty awful. Hated the use of the score, hated how saccrine everything was. I didn't believe the characters for a second.
Although I liked inherent vice in spite of its flaws idk
No stream. You know how things work around here user
why did he drive so fast on fucking one-lane rural streets in the middle of the night
Probably because it looks like a cheesy romance instead of instant kino like There Will be Blood
better hurry he'll be on soon!
he seems really shy since he stopped being a cocaine addict
HIS PASSION FOR CLASS
I think it's great too but come on now Those shots were amazing
>pirate central isn't talking about a film they can't download
Shocker.
