WHEN WILL IT END!?

Kinda glad the Fourth World won't be a part of this now. Darkseid is a sacrificial lamb to keep Mr. Miracle and Orion from getting shitty movies.

>Kinda glad the Fourth World won't be a part of this now
Hurm? Did they reshoot the movie to include Darkseid? If so, how would that make the movie less Fourth World? Or did you mean since they're blowing their load they won't drag the rest of the 4th World through more movies?

>

Superman: Apollo or Zues
Batman: Hades
Aquaman: Poseiden
Green Lantern: Apollo?
Cyborg: Hephestus
Wonderwoman: Artemis

Oh forgot
Flash: Hermes

>Apollo

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they attempted to make that connection or just imply some sort of symbolism. we already got Christian bullshit in BvS which nobody asked for.

can you imagine if Avengers tried shoehorning some shitty religious symbolism down people's throats? not trying to start company war b.s. here, I'm geuinly curious as to how people would've reacted to that. its like, yeah, the imagery is neat and appealing to the eyes, but in terms of the story is it really necessary? its a fucking comic book flick, not The DaVinci Code.

>Wonderwoman: Artemis
>Not Athena

it's not a war

there's no one on DC's side

I always assumed it was like 80% trolls and 20% people who fell for the trolling/have shitty taste.

Well it's not like it's a completely baseless claim
>can you imagine if Avengers tried shoehorning some shitty religious symbolism down people's throats
Yeah it's not like the DC heroes has done far more "Gods among men" story then Marvel.

more like 96/04

Retard. Also Apollo and green lantern have nothing in common, I know Johns made comics even dumber than before but that is as stupid as Hal as lightray or Bruce as metron. Not only extremely superficial but also casual as fuck.

wow, this level of delusion. Even going by just Rotten Tomatoes, over 60% of people who saw the movie liked it (and thats using a sample size of 227,732). What are you basing your idea of who likes and who doesn't, off Sup Forums? The same Sup Forums that struggles reach 500 unique ips anymore? The same Sup Forums where people same post and pretend to be different people?

You guys have lost touch with reality.

>not seeing the sun god stuff either, despite Lex explicitly mentioning apollo
>not understanding that the entire point is that Superman isnt jesus or any kind of god but people just project that onto him
>hurr durr why does DC use religious imagery?!?!?!

read more comics you casual, and get smarter

The fact that you are still talking about Christian shit means you are just a retard. Superman gets called Apollo by Lex, and. Lex see himself as prometheus, Bruce uses the totem of the bat to become the ubermensch.

there's a difference between figurative and literal gods user. Snyder basically tried to make Superman into Jesus. which is.... ya guessed. STUPID AS FUCK
>first sentence is condescendingly telling us we're stupid but not sharing the same opinion

and you're stupid as fuck, too. hahahaha. good day.

>Snyder basically tried to make Superman into Jesus

way to miss the entire point of the movie

>dies sacrificing himself for the same humanity that resented him

That's Jesus, bro. I dont care what Lex-granny piss jar- Luthor said.

how is bringing up facts and asking where you get your opinion from condescendingly telling you you are stupid?

I guess you really HAVE lost touch with reality, you cant even read anymore.

I am non ironically. And 100% for free.

Im on team Snyder. MoS was great and BvS will become a cult classic in the future. Once Snyder is done with the DCEU, Im only watching Fox movies or maybe just drop capeshit.

>not understanding that the entire point is people project god ideas onto him

way to be the very idiot Snyder was making fun of

the point is stupid, though. there shouldn't have to be a deeper point to begin with you fuckng moron. people waited decades for a Batman vs. Superman movie, not a "Superman is really Jesus or Apollo and Lex has a jar of his granny's piss" movie. fuck off you fucking retards. you're missing MY point,. I didn't miss the movie's point, I just didn't care for it, and I'm not alone there.

Humanity didn't resent him, did you watch the movie?

Also you are clearly so ignorant that you are only familiar with Christian stuff.

It's not like he resurrects later

>my interpretation is right, fuck what the movie says!!!

ahahahaahahahahahahahahhahaha, you are literally advocating headcanon

I think he's going off of how the movie's based off of JL Origin, which was tailor made for an adaptation like this. Darkseid being the "final act villain" in the movie like he was in the comic is possible.

EXACTLY

>the sacrifice/crucifixion story in BvS
>the resurrection story in JL

how do ppl not see this? lol. its obvious and stupid as hell to shoehorn into a cape flick.

You are just a manchild. Keep. Crying over Lex doing something to make someone feel humiliated

I never understood the the point of this parallel. It makes the heroes look worse by association.

I think you did miss the point where you said he turned Superman into Jesus, even though the opposite is true.
>there shouldn't have to be a deeper point to begin with

AHAHAHAAHAH so you are one of those retards who thinks no story should ever have a point to it? Okay, anti-intellectualism at its finest.
> Batman vs. Superman movie

Good thing this was called Batman v Superman, intentionally named after a court case because its meant to be about different opinions/views of the same events.

>hahahahahahahahaha I have no real argument just memes and acting like a condensing asshole.

kys troll and/or braindead moron

Keep posting, your ignorance doesn't have limits.

>Jesus is the only one to ever have resurrected
>we havent even seen HOW superman comes back yet

GET IT NOW THAT I SPELLED IT OUT FOR YOU??????????????????????

Just download and read supergods, and then shut up.

what is there to argue against when you just said "fuck any evidence the movie gives, my interpretation is right!!!!!"

I am just laughing at how childish you are acting over a movie!

no one is saying there is a deeper meaning, just that you missed the obvious surface level meaning.

they are saying you are retarded.

But no one is talking about the deeper meaning. It's just that it isn't Jesus stuff. It's old as fuck narrative. Gilgamesh tier.

Look at the pose Lois and Clark are in after his death. That is 100% Christian iconography and it invalidates any arguments about him not being a metaphor for Jesus. The movie spends all this time saying he's not a god or Christ figure, just a man trying to do what's right, only to do a 180 and say nope totally Jesus you guys.

>because they use a single image of a painting about jesus it means he must be jesus
>its not continuing the trend of people projecting their ideas onto Superman during his death

I guess by your logic this image
means they think Darkseid is god.

If Superman isn't Jesus then why did WB hire a minister to write a sermon so that they could direct market to churches comparing the two?

If Superman isn't Jesus, then why did he die on Good Friday?

they also use an image from Wizard of Oz, are you saying the movie is saying Superman is Dorothy?

>keeps making connections and projecting Jesus onto Superman
>literally just like Snyder predicted

its amazing really

>its not continuing the trend of people projecting their ideas
The camera is not a person. The camera is the window into their reality. If the camera frames it as such, it is what it is, that's not the characters perception of another character.

>Snyder basically tried to make Superman into Jesus
Snyder didn't start that shit
>In comic books as in all other media, Superman saves the people from dangers they cannot overcome on their own. The House of El (Jor-El, Kal-El, etc.) echoes the Hebrew expression for God, El. He even had to resurrect once to keep watching over Earth

Where are Superman's horses?

>Justice League as modern-day Pantheon

That memo was sent out in the 1960s.

Yes, that was pure Madonna, and? That's a single escene, how hard is to understand that every single thing about that can be included in the sun god archetype? Along with countless other stuff in the movie. Superman is a sun god just like Apollo and Jesus, one doesn't invalidate the other.

In universe superman is just a good guy doing good. Things, Snyder literally has a whole montage to make a point. He isn't a God or a holy savior. For the viewer that see the movie superman it's modern mythology, the iconography is there for you, not for the characters or for in universe reasons. Lex talking about prometheus and calling superman Apollo gave us information about Lex motivations and views, the other stuff is just for us, modern mythology easter eggs

uh, no. There is so much wrong with this post. Cameras often show us how people perceive each other.... like just off the top of my head, the most recent thing I watched was The Leftovers and that show OFTEN shows us things that only a single character is seeing, meant to make us question if those characters are crazy or not.... heck, even Fight Club gives us an unreliable camera pov.

Goddamn you are dumb.

>if its not a literal 1:1 to match it doesnt count

well Superman's story isnt a 1:1 match to Jesus either so....

George Millers gonna be pissed they stole his idea.

Jesus isn't a sun god.

he sure as hell is my dude, just take a step outside of your christian centered world

Nah, all you have is memes. No actual evidence.

Exactly.

This is the problem, while I believe most of the Jesusfags here are ignorant about other mythos, I believe that one problem Snyder had is overestimating the public. People is used to villians being both sympathetic and honest, to explain their motivations and not lie in private, and for pop corn movies to be extremely simple. BvS isn't a smart movie, is not even complex, but not being generic really hurted it, I can't believe we have to discuss that what the public see isn't the same as what the characters believed.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sol_Invictus#Jesus_as_a_.22sun_god.22

>Many of the world's sacrificed godmen have their traditional birthday on December 25. During this time, people believed that the "sun god" had "died" for three days and was "born again" on December 25.[81] After December 25, the Sun moves 1 degree, this time north, foreshadowing longer days.[82] The three days following December 21 remain the darkest days of the year where Jesus (the sun) dies and remains unseen for three days.

tl;dr 2deep4u

Yeah it sucks, but whatcha gunna do, people cant handle the idea that they cant be handed the themes/motivations via exposition.

nah no one is saying that all in fact he literally says

>BvS isn't a smart movie, is not even complex,

You are a clown, if Morrison thinks superman is a sun god, I will take his fucking word

That's not the argument, the argument is that sun gods are a thing and superman is one, just like Jesus isn't Apollo or horus, superman isn't Jesus even if they have some things in common. More important Snyder literally says in the movie that Clark is just a good guy trying to do good things, even if th le world wants to see him in a different light. For us he is a modern myth.

Pretty sure Batman would be Apollo.
Patron of art and science, trickster, and the deliverer of justice as well as prophesy AKA preptime.

Hades is about law, but a warden rather than a judge. If anything he'd be Waller or Gordon.

>"When we started to examine the Superman mythology, in the most classic sense, I really wanted to press upon the film the 'why' of him, which has been 75 years in the making," Snyder told CNN. "The Christ-like parallels, I didn't make that stuff up. We weren't like, 'Hey, let's add this!' That stuff is there, in the mythology. That is the tried-and-true Superman metaphor. So rather than be snarky and say that doesn't exist, we thought it would be fun to allow that mythology to be woven through."

Spider-man uses the totem of the spider.

That's why the Spider-man/Batman crossover was so good.

Except Superman was created as a Socialist version of the golem.

At least it's not vikingwankery. That gets fucking insufferable.

as a jew, while there are definitely parallels to the golem of prague, you cannot ignore the inherent moses parallels and the fact they intentionally made him part of the House of El, which is one of the oldest hebrew words for god.

That being said, the story of moses holds lots of parallels to the story of jesus, and if anything your point just re-enforces what
said

>Christ-like parallels
that means nothing, Snyder is simply appeasing the masses. It's quite obvious in the movie that he's going for something else.

wonder woman is athena you idiot.
green lantern is definitely apollo(the god of light) and superman is certainly zues.
well i think he means batman fits hades cause he's the god of the underworld and fits the dark persona.

That image is clearly a reference to the creation of Adam at the Sistine Chapel and is used to highlight Darkseid's nature as a New God. The very same Darkseid who has used a corrupted version of God's "I am" when referring to himself.
The BvS pose is a reference to the statue Pieta by Michaelangelo. If Snyder didn't want us to see fucking Jesus there, why would he put a visual reference to a famous Christian artwork by one of the if not the most renown artist of the Renaissance. If he did intend for Superman not to be Jesus, then the inclusion of that shot just muddled his message and calls into question his competency as a film director.
Also proves he intended it to be there and spent the entire movie on a last minute fake out with the Pieta like my original post said.
Donner Superman had the whole I send you my only son Jesus Christ angle going on and Snyderman is JJ Abrams tier reboot of the Donner films.

You don't get it. Even if Snyder himself says he meant for their to be Jesus analogies, there are no Jesus analogies.

>tfw perfect chance for
>THERE CAME A TIME WHEN THE OLD GODS DIED
>and we won't get it

And that's all that they are, similarities, reminders, trying to evoke feelings and ideas, it's not Snyder telling you that superman is Jesus.

For fucks sake, how triggered were you by the chronicles of Narnia??

jesus christ are you guys dumb, no one is saying snyder WASNT trying to use jesus images, they are saying the movie wasnt telling us that Superman is Jesus.

In the same way points out that they used an image of Darkseid as God, to not literally say Darkseid IS God.

>hurr durr jesus parallels are only ever used to say a character IS jesus and never for any other reasons

Imagine being this triggered fedoralord

Not him but Artemis's Roman equivalent is Diana

Get it?

Doesn't count. There's never any symbolism or depth in Marvel movies, only quips.

Hades is also the god of wealth, so Batman works out for that

Wonder Woman can also be Athena. She has a lot of similarities.

The Superman analogue in the Wildstorm universe is even called Apollo.
