perfection
if wcw took advantage of the screwjob they would have won hands down
When I was in the 4th grade we moved to a new state. There were a couple of months when I didn't know anyone or have any friends. On Monday nights my mom would make a plate of peanut butter and saltine crackers for me along with a coca cola and I'd watch WCW Nitro for 2-3 fucking hours. And for a few months in that new place, the wrestlers were all my friends.
Good memories. Damn good memories.
Lets settle this once and for all: Who was the wrong in here?
>read articles about screwjob
>read wiki about it
>watch videos about it
>still don't actually understand it
am i retarded
vince obviously. he knew months in advance that bret was leaving and there were several opportunities where bret could have dropped the belt.
it's a work but only for Vince and Bret
Hint: it was a work
>he thinks the monty screwjob was a work
typical smark
ding-dong diddly
>Bret leaves without doing a legit job and gets millions from Ted Turner
>Vince gets over as a heel which he'd been working since at least September
how was it not a work?
I believed that wrestling was real until my 22nd birthday when my dad set me down and explained the birds and the bees and how the world operates and how everything is not how it may seem on the surface. Believe me, I know works when I see them.
Essentially Bret Hart had signed to leave WWF to go to WCW while being the WWF champion. He had one more match to wrestle and being in Canada, Hart's "territory", it was agreed that Hart would win thus retaining the title. Vince changed the ending without Hart's knowledge to have Hart lose to Michaels.
The whole incident was informed by a wrestler leaving WWF to go to WCW and taking with them their WWF title belt and throwing it in the trash on live television. Vince like Brett but didn't trust the entire circumstances to let something like that happen again. Essentially Vince didn't want one of his biggest starts leaving his company for the competition while being champion...and also Vince hated the entire situation over all. His company was in really bad shape. And WCW did NOTHING... NOTHING!!! with Hart once they had him. There are a lot of ideas thrown around for why WCW went under. It was all because of piss poor management.
wcw was fucking garbage. the highlight of that entire era was the sting stuff but even that was lame as fucking hell.
wwf was superior and i'm glad mcmahon bought them the fuck out
Script says Bret is going to win. Bret is going to go to WCW and Vince doesn't want him to win. At the end of the PPV, Vince has referee declare Shawn Michaels as the winner.
ECW ECW ECW ECW ECW
I was prepubescent during Sting's big run in 1997 but looking back it was probably the beginning of my homosexual impulses. Sexy sexy sexy Stinger.
youtube.com
it's simple. Bret never taps and Vince tells the ringkeeper to ring the bell
wasn't michaels in on it too? he apologized later for it, but he was still in on it from what i remember
i honestly don't blame vince for setting this all up. bret was going to his competition and he wanted to give bret and wcw a big "fuck you" before he left
yeah him and triple h were in on it. if you watch wrestling with the shadows theres a clip of brets wife yelling at triple h lel
>bret was going to his competition
because wwe couldnt pay him the money that was under his contract
>Tank Sinatra
>Mexican wrestlers using tequila bottles as foreign objects
>Vince Russo booking himself to win the world title
Who /crashtv/ here?
You in da souf boi. This is a WCW thread. Get that WWF shit outta here.
youngfags probably don't even remember this. by far the weirdest and most ridiculous storyline in wwf was the mae young/mark henry thing where they like got married and she got pregnant and gave birth to a hand or some shit
how is this not a movie yet?
Too many white males.
Wrestling with Shadows, my man.
>Ric Flair committed to insane asylum
>his crazy little buddy is called Triple A
WCW was glorious
Louis Theroux visiting the Power Plant was kino
The joke was that she had "birthed" a sex toy that had been lodged in her uterus for 40 years.
Henry's lovin' had pried it loose, leading to the pseudo pregnancy.
Nobody got the joke, so May and Henry got to be reunited with their "son" some years later.
Oh God I remember this. Even back then being a youngfag I remember saying to myself that no amount of money had to be worth ultranigger submitting himself to that humiliation.
Later I would realize what Henry did to earn that (hint: it was worse than Saturn's mop shit or DDP's stalker angle shit).
what did he do?
it still irritates me that they booked Hogan to dominate Sting at Starrcade '97 for 90% of that match and then do a fucked up finish
I remember watching this with my aunt and uncle when I was in elementary school. I remember the GTV sketch with Mae Young smoking the cigar while in bed with him. It's pretty amazing I was able to watch that shit, if I had kids that age I probably wouldn't allow them to.
>men's thighs
Eww gross
>Saturn's mop
Hahahahaha, fuck I'd forgotten about that
From time to time I like to shitpost about Sting's wrestling career on Sup Forums, or his musical career on /asp/.
Never get many bites though. Point is I'm gay for Sting too.
It still amazes me that they went from the whole crowd/fans hating Hulk 100% to making him an actual heel they were cheering.
MFW I'll never lay on my back with my legs wrapped around the torso of WCW champ Sting with him gently and lovingly topping me to the sweet sound of this song.
youtu.be
Those dubs. Those feels.
Every wrestler loses their last match, it's a tradition. He can't move to the competition while being champ of WWF, that just a kick in the nuts to the WWF and all the wrestlers at the WWF.
Bret thought he was better than everyone else and should get better treatment, Vince had to screw him because he was a baby that wouldn't do his job.
Have you ever Stingposted using a picture of The Crow?
hey dumb dumb he agreed to lose the match on the raw right after. bret did nothing wrong.
>muh hometown fans
>my swansong
>my fairy tale ending
no, do your job fag, you're not special.
not to Shawn though
he also had a creative clause in his contract BTFO. bret did nothing wrong
he didnt want to lose in canada
How does /asp/ react?
K-Kek...
Vince is boss, it's his company, he can do what he wants with it
Vince did nothing wrong.
I'm asking you! It was just a passing thought.
Also, it would be funnier on Sup Forums
GOAT
yeah and thats why the company is in the shitter now
>he didnt want to lose in canada
Shawn didn't want to lose in the USA
the fuck are you talking about he would have won in the states
>in your contract to never lose
what a fag
he lost plenty of times
no he didn't want to lose to Shawn, he wanted to job to Shamrock
wrong. the plan was for bret to lose to shawn at the raw after the survivor series.
>no tweaked out bushwackers
youtube.com
no Bret didn't want to job to Shawn at all, this is all in Meltzer's expose the day after
It's why you even know who Bret Hart is.
how do I get this cool bros?
wrong
exactly
stay btfo, bret is based and did nothing wrong.
He had full creative control, he would only lose whenever he determined it wasn't detrimental to his image, so few times and if a proper comeuppance was set for later.
Bret did not because Shawn said it first. The original plan was Bret dropping it to Austin at WM14, Undercarder had to go and threaten to murder HasBeenKid because he was gonna shoot and avoid dropping the belt. Also
>never world champion
why was this allowed?
Shawn would never have agreed to lose to Shawn unless he got a win back, don't lie. Bret wasn't going to drop the belt. He was more than willing to leave to WCW with the IC belt back in 1991
well if you want to be like Scott Hall the answer is drugs, ALL the drugs
then a few decades of you life falling apart around you followed by DDP Yoga
Get drunk
>Bret would never have agreed to lose to Shawn
fixed
i wasn going to be a loss it would have ended in a dq
>Raaaaap.... is crap
- Curt Hennig's legacy
>"Perfect"
>obviously uncut
Fingerpoke of Doom had my 10 year old ass wildin like my head was about pop tf off holy shit
youtube.com
The wrong company died..
Vince was desperate, so he hired the /asp/ equivalent of Rian Johnson that proceeded to turn the show into a circus.
Nash selling the shit out of that finger poke will never not make me laugh my ass off
It was a fucking work you mark
kek stay mad you got btfo
Let me guess, the earth is flat and the moon landing was faked too.
worked
One of those is true.
Because he was too vanilla. He didn't have a great character and his mic skills were average despite his extraordinary in-ring technical abilities.
Why was Goldberg always escorted by the police. Did he not want the filthy Goyim to touch him?
Not really OP.
The entire NWO storyline got dragged out beyond belief within a couple of months, because of the ratings plus the bullshit where WWE jobbers and politically connected D-List WCW guys got put in the NWO instead of guys who were the future (Jericho, Benoit, etc).
I'd argue that WWF was more interesting with Stone Cold Steve Austin as a legit psychopath who managed to pull a Frank Grimes on Bret Hart, causing him to go insane and declare war on the US and reunite his fucked up family as his back-up posse. Not to mention watching Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart feuding and line between real and fake blending as they worked into the script their legit hatred of each other.
With Nitro, you could legit miss multiple episodes and not fall behind on the NWO storyline. With Raw, missing episodes meant you would fall behind on the storylines.
IIRC it was a hold-over from his Raven feud. Raven had his own army of henchmen and he kept having them attack his enemies before matches, NWO style. So when he started feuding with Goldberg, Goldberg had police security to protect him.
hogan is a trashcan wrestler though. he gave nothing back to the business, would NEVER put any younger talent over. he might of had charisma and star power, but his repertoire and actual ring skills were ultimate warrior levels of trash can
ding dong diddly
Hogan is the GOAT you fucking mark, he got over more than any wrestler as both the top face that changed the biz in the 80s to the top heel who changed the biz in the 90s
>he gave nothing back to the business
He made every promotion he worked for MILLIONS of dollars, allowing them to employ jabronis and other sundry employees who were basically of zero economic value
>repertoire and actual ring skills
lol
brother
say what you will but there is a lot of truth to this.
Bischoff wanted to get rid of Virgil(Vincent) since there was no use for him, but that Hogan brother basically said "look, brother, just keep him around and give him a paycheck brother" and so he did.
it was garbage but highly entertaining garbage, i actually prefer it to the lame drivel we have now. 97-00 wcw was batshit ott but max comfy. my bro had a friend w cable who would record the eps and ppvs for us, and when we got the tape, me and bro would sneak out after mom went to sleep to pick up snacks at the corner store and stay up all night watching. i still unironically watch and enjoy that wcw movie w david arquette.
