I feel like all of you are trying to pull my leg here.

I thought that the first one would be just another mediocre cash grab family flick. Some months ago, I actually got around to watching it and found myself genuinely liking it. It's not perfect by any means, and there are a few parts that feel like one of the aforementioned mediocrities, but a lot of the movie turned out to be full of heart, humor, and imagination.

In short, it was what family movies based on existing characters should aim to be instead of the dreck we usually get.

How will Wes Anderson get over this?

Paul King is working off of much of what Wes did in Grand Budapest hotel with a refugee character and making one of the best movies of the year and one of the best children's movies of the decade. It's going to make Isle of Dogs look like Batman v Superman.

How the fuck is this happening? Wes was supposed to be the best at this stuff.

It's a family comedy based on a children's classic that actually for the most part respects the source material and has some pretty clever and funny moments without cramming some, if at all, modern referential humour. Basically, it's anti-Peter Rabbit.

This. I can't stress this enough to people. While still impressive that it is unanimous all that is really being said is that every critic agrees that it...doesn't suck. Not lower than a 5/10 but not necessarily higher. If 100 critics out of a 100 said a movie was a 5.4 out of 10 guess what...it would have 100% on RT.

At least in the last year or so, every big movie had at least 92% from critics a few days before release no matter if the movie was shit or not.
