Now that the dust has settled, was Fantasia really as good as people made it out to be?

yes

OP it was released in 1940 I'm pretty sure the dust has been settled for a while
Literally the greatest achievement in animation. Leagues ahead of anything done both before and after.
Didn't it damage Disney's finances? Either this, or the sequel, didn't earn nearly as much as expected, and suddenly branching out into alternative options other than classical animation got put on the table.
It's good. HOWEVER, the feature is essentially a expansion of Disney's groundbreaking and influential Silly Symphony series, which was conceived by animating fantasy shorts to music. Disney made better shorts outside of this film.
>77 years
>implying the dust wouldn't have settled
What side of the Earth do you live on where gravity is THAT fucking weak?
You need to wait for the dust to settle so much it creates another geological layer on the Earth, dubbed the Disneosphere. Only then can we discuss if Fantasia was good.
in hindsight it actually looks better
i can't think of a single other full length animation with no dialogue that comes even close
Anyone else find it hilarious that it flopped because by then Walt Disney DOOMED Western Animation as being inoffensive shit for stupid kids? Disney is credited as being the giant of the animation industry, but all they do is make shit for kids. And culturally they destroyed a new medium.
I'm glad videogames avoided that shitty stigma of being garbage for little kids.
Yeah, videogames are garbage for everyone.
Ah but Nintendo is desperately trying to maintain a Family Friendly image aka garbage for kids approach to gaming. So long as Nintendo somehow survives the problem remains given they're Gaming Disney.
I've jerked off to it the most of Sup Forums related stuff. Nothing else has come close in terms of tf sequences both in terms of animation and concept.
Yeah now it's just a shitty stigma of being garbage for cawadooty fags
>Yeah now it's just a shitty stigma of being garbage for cawadooty fags
hipsters like games too now though
Yeah but I haven't seen any gamer portrayals in other media be someone playing a walking simulator.
Disney's finest film for stoners
give it time
the telltale scourge is growing more and more popular
The dust has settled and turned into rock at this point
that's not why Fantasia flopped at all, pretty much everything you said is horribly wrong
>Now that the dust has settled, was Fantasia really as good as people made it out to be?
dude it's fucking Fantasia
put yourself in 1940 and imagine all the bricks you'd probably shit in comparison to other animations
This isn't an Alice in Wonderland (1951) thread.
that's just a great film in general.
yeah it was pretty good
