Svetlana Saturday

For those who don't know, Svetlana Chmakova has a new comic out. Her website has a link to the first chapter of Brave.
svetlania.com/

Other than that, who has read Svetlana Chmakova? Her art is kind of infamous around here due to My Life Me, although she also wrote DramaCon, Nightschool, and a Witch & Wizard comic adaption (before that) along with Awkward, and now Brave, afterwards. I do like her stuff, even if people complain about it being overly anime. I'd say she make use of the tropes well in her works.

Talk about the comics, talk about My Life Me, talk about the porn. Whatever you'd enjoy.

>please shitpost Sup Forums mantra

Okay

And in case anyone is too lazy to click through the links, I gotcha covered.

It doesn't look as badly weeaboolean as My Life Me did.

In case anyone is wondering, yes, this looks like it's mostly a continuation of what happened in Awkward. Although with focus on a different character.

Pretty much. There's no annoying high-pitched chibi voices, at least. And MLM did tend to go overboard and rely on it far too much at times.

In case you are wondering, the answer is
>42รท5/8
>42*8/5
>336/5
>a rather ugly number
Something like 67+1/5. Rather cruel to just pop on a kid in class, honestly.

he's not paying attention, he's fucking day dreaming instead of jotting down notes or paying attention. I'm with the teacher on this, sometimes you crack the fucking whip

Exactly.
These retards end up unable to do basic maths and then it's somehow always the teachers fault.

True enough. Actually listening to what is going on around you is something teachers sometimes need to teach as well, after all.

I'd be more sympathetic for this guy but all he does is escape into his fantasy and become a bother to everyone around him. I hope this leads to a character arc and he improves but god damn this fatass sucks

...

True. I picked up the comic today but haven't read through it, although I'd assume the whole point involves him either learning to change, or learning something about that. Awkward was much the same way, although the main character was a lot more sympathetic. (just being nervous)

Go library.

Let's try posting the image this time.

Last page from the preview. Might do On The Importance of Space Travel later.

Maybe I should've opened the thread with My Life Me. I thought people would've been interested in her other stuff.

sorry OP, I mean I like school slice of life stories but you gotta admit, she doesn't have the drawing power of a Telgemeir

I'm just surprised. The MLM threads always seem to hang on for over a hundred posts, even with talk about storytiming Svetlana's other works. Guess I just hit the wrong time for that audience.

I personally like her expressions, although her work is definitely more focused on the silly inter-character drama than the faces.

I haven't read her work in ages, but I loved DramaCon in middle school. I liked a lot of those "Western manga" books Tokyo Pop put out at the time, even though folks were hung up over it being "manga" or not. I think she even referenced that in the second DramaCon... but it's literally been ten years.

i just read awkward pretty comfy, i don't get why Svetlana calls his comics manga... they are good though

I liked some of the Korean artists they featured at that time, as well. It was nice seeing the differences in story design. The Korean artists seemed to be more interested in full color pages and looking pretty, rather than conveying action.

Yeah, I'm sure that DramaCon had a reference to that - it was very much a reference to the whole scene surrounding manga at the time. Awkward was kind of like DramaCon, although nowhere near as much drama and crazy stuff happening. It was much more toned down, and much more silly.

her comics* i forgot Svetlana is girl name

I think I'm gonna check them out. I also miss the TokyoPop "manga" contests. I suppose they got rid of it because kids starting using dA and tumblr, but as a poor kid without the internet those books were a sort of litmus as to what others around my age were doing. It was a really fun time, so it's great to see she's still making stuff for the same demographic as when I initially found her stuff.

Alright, guess it is time for Space Travel.

This is from a comic collection called Flight, volume 5, in case anyone was curious where it appeared in print.

I should probably be paying more attention here before the thread dies.

Nah, I wouldn't give you the false ending like that.

And yep, that's it for the crazy Pluto princess.

if the crazy is cute crazy, does that negate the don't stick your dick in it rule

Yes it does.
Just be ready to put up with a lot.

Well that freaking adorable.

I never Svetlana made My Life Me, huh.

Anyway, love the woman. DramaCon was my shit in my teenage years and I beam Nightschool at heads of all my students into Harry Potter, Anime and/or supernatural stories.

Fuck, Already love the book- gotta pick it up asap now!

I loved her Nigtschool books I once asked her if she was going to continue it on DA a couple years aho, I can't remember what she said exctly but she said that there could be a possibility. I don't think she's going to.

Uh-oh! Quck, Jensen, which pocket has the booklet with instructions on what to do during a jihadi suicide attack!!?

>the newspaper multi-culti club are the popular kids
So this is a fantasy comic?

Tell me about the veiled girl, why does she wear the hijab?

>letting your school-age daughter persist in her delusions
>hinted at actually enforcing those delusions (he sent the letter and pendant)
>this results in the child's complete alienation except this one kid who feels guilty
Father of the year over here.

...

>I never Svetlana made My Life Me, huh.
She is credited as one of the creators, along with art director. It definitely has some of her art style, along with a bit of her humor.

>>the newspaper multi-culti club are the popular kids
>So this is a fantasy comic?
Most definitely.

Although I think they're mostly popular thanks to the comics the art club was putting into the papers, in the events of Awkward. Other than that, some kids listen to them because their club would get revoked if the school paper stopped giving them support. (events in Awkward, again)

Although I didn't double check if those were some of the science kids, or just some random others.

sudden improvement.

Such a standard Sup Forums reaction is boring user. Don't live your life being so predictable, it makes you less fun to be around.

huh. I keep seeing these books at work and I thought the sketch girl tubsy got denied was from Awkward. Neat that this is like an shared anthology series with rotating protags

Well, Awkward/Brave is taking place together. None of the other stuff seems to be tied into any of it. Awkward had sort of a romance thing going for the main character, although it doesn't seem like Brave has the same. So I'm not sure if it will follow a similar formula, but with a different protag, or if Svetlana has something different in mind with this one.

Nigga it tool 50+ for someone to say something about the girl in hijab that would get at least 1 reply, this is an actual improvement compared with other Sup Forums threads
