Practically anything can been taken the wrong way by erratic and/or depressed people who want some creator's work to mean something they want specifically.
Dave Gibbons has said repeatedly that he wanted psychological depth in comic characters, and didn't really like that everywhere he looked were groaning depressed hulks that imitated only the surface level of some of his works. Of course the guy didn't exactly go out of his way to actually make something that wasn't ultra grim-dark in the first place: do as I say not as I do?
There is nothing refreshing about this.

People do positive Sup Forums things. I spread my love of making and reading creative works by donating comics, bringing uplifting manga (like Yotsuba) to people I visit who are depressed, or in hospice care and show a little interest in cartoons.
What the fuck is the point in killing your co-workers at some shit job you're stuck in? Get a better job, go make something or do something that doesn't make you so goddamn sad.
And it is never too late, I know a 60 year-old former meth addict who is missing his legs, has a felony count he is still dealing with (but his health has made them decide to keep him out of jail), and he still finds positive shit to do with his day, trying to make up for his shitty fuck-wad choices and the garbage hand he got in life (typical childhood abuse and all that). Dude started painting, puts aside a little bit of his minor income flow for helping homeless folks in the area, and gets on with things.
And jesus-fuck get some anti-depressants and don't just stop taking them after a couple of weeks because you feel 'numb' from not being completely depressed all the time. Yeah they screw up your sex drive half the fucking time but you need to get to a more positive place in your life before fucking people is any good anyway.
