Just finished Les Mis and I’m really not sure.
Was Javert just doing his job or was he genuinely bad?

Without having seen the movie or play, just trailers and whatnot, I don't get it. Why is Crowe's character looking for Jackman's character after they show Jackman serving his time pulling on ship chains and shit? From what I can tell, he straight up goes to prison for a crime, but then gets hounded afterward. I don't get it.
he violated his parole
valjean breaks his parole and javert is obsessed with law and order
see ya
Javert was too strict a legalist to accept the possibility that Valjean was truly a good human being. He was the antagonist, but he's not depicted as a bad man.
It basically rips off the plot of the Incredible Hulk tv series, where the good guy is hounded by law enforcement who think he is bad even though he’s just trying to survive and help people along the way. You could also say it rips off the fugitive feature film starring Harrison Ford. That movie was huge in the 90s, why would you basically remake it but set it in medieval France?
Intermediate tier bait.
Why do Javert and Valjean always live in the same city as each other?
YOU BROKE INTO A HOUSE
What is that abomination
