I think a better way to put it is that there isn't a movie shot with a clear direction in mind anymore. Reshot with a new direction, sure, but there's still gonna be elements that do not fit in very well with that direction.

I mean almost the entire film was reshot so it theoretically shouldn't be that jarring

Has the unassembled film even been scored yet? Think about it. Is that possible? Usually they just use temp tracks all the way through final cut and then the movie gets scored; did that happen? In under 4 months left can that happen?
