Toonami Ratings for 6/17/17

Toonami is having an AoT rerun marathon on July 1st even though the 4th is on fucking Tuesday.

Adult Swim is funding two new 6 episode seasons of FLCL. Expected release 2018.

Last week, ratings went up ever so slightly but were still in the gutter. This week we finally have the ratings black hole known as Unicorn off the block, and now we have an even bigger black hole known as Lupin which got embarrassed by Naruto. Everything else was pretty much the same, only big gain of note was Tokyo Ghoul

11:00 Samurai Jack 1085 0.49 631
11:30 Dragon Ball Super (r) 984 0.44 569

Best

So when will Ryukofag come in to mock "Lupin the Meme" or "The Memeland Show"?

Weekly reminder that although the people who run Toonami may be idiots, One Piece is still the best selling manga WORLDWIDE!

I guess that's what happens when you air the version with the inferior soundtrack.

Too bad the anime is not as good.

Holy FUCK this is abysmal. What happened all of a sudden?

Lupin for sure, and he won't be memeing, he will actually be right

So, was Lupin's issue the timeslot (sandwiched between two shounens) or did people just not take to it?

These are better than the last two weeks, even with Lupin flopping

Your meme animes couldn't keep the Toonami bubble for long, and finally, it will be soon time for THE FINAL DELETION.

I'm really sad and sorry for everyone who believed in Toonami lasting longer than 8 years, though.

Why does anyone still care about this all-but-anime-only block? It produces essentially nothing of its own since after SJ, just let it die already.

This isn't the early 2000s, when you needed it to watch anime.

Probably both, it's way too different from HxH and Naruto to be between them, just as Unicorn was. Also it's probably another example of a memetitle a handful of people begged for that the masses don't care about

>What happened all of a sudden?
More people started using sites like Crunchyroll for their anime fix instead.

But hey, its Space Dandy and Attack on Titan days were pretty cool

Sorry, kind of naive to this stuff, but is Toonami actually going to be cancelled again if the ratings are shit? Has this been stated somewhere or is it just speculation?

You don't need confirmation to know if something gets bad ratings that it will be cancelled.

That aside, last time ratings were this bad half the block was chopped off, so we know what happens when ratings dip

Is the marathon a week before or after the 4th?

Literally the first line of the OP

Sorry,went straight to the ratings

Really though, you could say that about the entire Saturday lineup.

The problem is that it's always one show, not the entire thing. [AS] is the root of the problem, not just DeMarco.

I wanted hero academy on toonami

>another FotM shonen memetitle

Oh joy

>kaneki gets white hair because he got tortured

Are you fucking kidding me with this shit

Meant to say "it's only one show always singled out."

High stress will turn your hair white, obviously not instantly but it's not that ridiculous of a concept

>t. 24 year old with white hair

When does Toonami start airing something good?

Your hair loses pigmentation because of stress.

>AgK was the peak of toonami

>More retards tuned in for Naruto than the Lupin premiere

I mean, I kind of figured it'd happen. But it still hurts to see in print.

When DeMarco is fired. So never.

Lupin the M3m3 killing the block even worse than Samurai Meme

Call it Pupin the Turd like any sane man with shit taste would, retard.

no because it makes you so mad

Naruto is actually good so it makes sense

Idea for Toonami is dead idea
>Old Lupin boxer scene with Fujiko
>Tom's face over Lupin
>Guy from the memes face over Fujiko
>Jack-in-the-box punching Glove with 2 AM on it

So when do we hear what replaces Titan? By my count it should be done on the 15th

This hasn't been sudden, it's something that's been building up over time.

Dragonball power hour seems to be steadily crawling back up but everything else is stagnating at pretty mediocre numbers.

This is an improvement over the last two weeks actually. Ratings recovering gradually, but the drop after Jack ended was apocalyptic. Toonami might not recover from it.

Not a fit for this block at all. I was expecting poor turnout for it because the Toonami crowd are mostly millennials who grew up with DBZ and shit.

Leave the pun for "The Memeland Show" and call it instead.

If there is a god, it will be something like 'Another'

But knowing our luck, it will be IBO S2

Did you remember the marathon in two weeks?

Yea I accounted for that

Time was I looked forward to new show announcements now I barely even care cause I know it'll be disappointing.

>getting really excited cause this is a good part of Tokyo Ghoul
>remember how bad the anime fucked it up
>remember than the terrible second season exists and we will be subjected to it
Gonna be a long few months getting through Tokyo Ghoul

>give Demarco a chance and stay up till 2am for Lupin
>trudge through 3 hours of pure crap to get there
>they use the Italian soundtrack

Thanks for saving me the sleep Demarco

>"Lord Demarco, this Japanese studio is asking us to air this new show"
>"Let's put it at 2am and not air any ads for it until only a few days before it starts"
>*ratings come in, it's a massive flop*
>"Why are the ratings so low?!?", Demarco says
Wew lad.

Here's another good part

...

>The fate of the entire block rests with a bunch of fickle DBZ fans who tune in for the first 90 minutes and then fuck off
>that 112k drop in the 18-49 demo between DBZ Kai and AoT

Compare to last week:

>11:00 Samurai Jack 884 0.39 497
>11:30 Dragon Ball Super (r) 856 0.40 510
>12:00a Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters 893 0.42 537
>12:30a Attack on Titan 717 0.36 465
>1:00a Tokyo Ghoul 583 0.29 377

>1:30a Hunter X Hunter 574 0.30 389
>2:00a Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 530 0.29 372
>2:30a Naruto: Shippuden 513 0.27 341
>3:00a Ghost in the Shell (r) 469 0.26 331

When was the last time we had more than 2 million+ viewers for a show? I want to say two years ago, but I could be wrong.

That's not in the anime though

>nothing new or exclusive
>tons of free anime online

Picking edgy bullshit like Ghoul and SNKs2 was a bad idea. People can watch that anywhere. Jack was a good gamble but failed in a way because it felt rushed. We need something special to keep this block alive. I kinda hope Dandy nets the rerun spot when GiTS is done. They paid all that money for it,why not show it again.

Sauce me on that pic pls.

This. Such a fucking disappointment. The Japanese OP and ED were phenomenal, you don't get OPs and EDs that good very often. And we didn't even get to see them.

The only time we had over 2M was for the DBZ Kai episode on the night of Akame's premiere. So yeah, about two years ago sounds right.

Is that Discotech's fault or Demarco? I saw the OP online and it was pretty good. That said, Lupin is in a very odd spot.

>come off of three hours of action to a show vastly different in tone and could be argued to be one of the most humorous shows on the block

Damn, it's been that long?

>miss me yet?

> that massive drop from hunter x hunter to lupin's premiere
Goddamn demarco is a dumb-ass to do Jack reruns in that slot and not lupin

It hurts looking at this block, boys. It's like watching a friend in the hospital losing their battle with cancer, but everyone keeps saying they'll pull through with the right kind of chemo, even though it keeps making their condition worse.

The block would have literally died two years ago if it wasn't for the autism of Dragon Ball fans.

Feels good being a Dragon Ball fan

She really did save Toonami.

She didn't do shit, faggot.

I really enjoy Lupin as well, its a neat entertaining watch once a week.

But your anger is not at me or Ryuko.

But at DeMarco

whats wrong with being a faggot
retard

>mfw kill la kill makes an unexpected comeback only for the ratings to tank through its whole run

Wasn't expecting that. I thought Lupin would be a big draw. I suppose it's not too surprising that Naruto outdoes its immediate predecessor; it does that fairly often.

Why isn't there an (r) next to Jack? Are they running the earlier seasons?

2mil is unheard of Toonami numbers. We got it literally one time

>a rerun fails

And no one would be shocked

It would certainly btfo KLKucks anyway

I would assume it's TMS's fault. Discotek is just a distributor and Demarco probably had no idea there were multiple versions of this show when he got it (in his defense, the existence of the Italian OST is not well documented). TMS is the one footing the bill for the dub and they're the ones who sent the dubbing studio the materials.

No it really wouldn't. Reruns of any kind fail on Toonami

Fuck, I phrased that wrong. I mean, when was the last time we had more than one show to go over 1 million?

>expected a niche popularity show like Lupin to do good

You weren't one of those guys who thought Lupin had popularity outside of a small group of weebs, were you?

Idk, around the final episode of Jack id assume

Lets be real, the 8 pm hour on saturday and sundays are basically dead zones now

I'm glad Lupin failed. It was an insult that they aired it with the Italian music.

Not him, but I thought it would appeal to the western audience.

Lots of different things can appeal to the "western audience". But it depends on which western audience. Toonami's audience isn't really interested in a comedy series from the 70s even if its done up in an incredible style with gorgeous animation. Toonami's audience are a mix of nostalgiafag 90s kids and scene hipsters from tumblr who obsess over the latest fad anime and then drop it like garbage as soon as the next title comes along. It's rare to find a show that appeals to both demographics equally.

I didn't see any waifus, so I don't see how you could have thought that

>>I didn't see any waifus
So you didn't watch the episode

It's too bad they threw the show away before Saobaody. But it's a good thing they did it before Impel Down. The One Piece anime would definitely become a ratings sink. I'm surprised Funimation still wants to dub it.

I can't waifu another mans wife. It just isn't right

>I can't waifu another mans wife. It just isn't right

What? Half of all waifus are already somebody else's girl. Probably more than that.

You don't "waifu" a woman you just met you dipshit. Waifu is not a synonym for "girl I think is cute and want to jack off to until I get bored of her."

Very few waifus are married. If they just hang around an oblivious MC that don't count

This. Fucking new age hippies ruining the sanctity of waifuing.

Thoughts?

Won't last a week.

Hello Chiller 2.0

I don't ever think there was a show that hit 2 million

DBZ did on the week AgK premiered. Barely, but it did it

On one hand, they got some shows that weren't from the bottom of the barrel or not the channel theme like Chiller did. On the other, they are just airing shit Toonami already did, or in the case of TG, are airing right now. You can't just copy the big anime block and expect success. Probably dead in a month

You can't really pin it on Demarco this time. How was he in any way supposed to know?

Now it gets interesting. Barring TG and Root A, their small block, while stale is better than half of the stuff we have now.

Maybe it'll be three months before it drops or alternatively, Demarco gets a fire under his ass and he stops slacking off.

I want to call you out for hyperbole but holy fuck chiller really did last that long

>soon be time for FINAL DELETION
Not so long as the Anthem-Hardy legal fuckening continues
