Watching the departed for the first time right now.
Holy fuck how did he not win an Oscar for this? Only an hour in but he's been incredible.

Not enough screentime
This film is so good. I can't believe I never watched it before.
Come back when it’s over retard or you’ll be spoiled, some shit is coming up

some dumbguy kills dicaprio and this fat nigger
damon kills the dumbguy
wahlburg kills damon
/end
I thought the accents made this movie unwatchable and by the end it was clear who the rat was.
These guys all go super over the top with their southie bahston accents
these BAWSTIN movies are annoying. they've caused every white male in america claim to be irish
Leo should have won for Django too.
Infernal Affairs > the Departed
Is the age old "The Departed isn't good because ________ " Sup Forums maymay FINALLY dead?
>by the end it was clear who the rat was
It was pretty fucking clear who the rat on either side was from the start given it was the premise of the entire film
he gets shot in the face after catching matt damon. matt gets killed by marky mark.

I love this movie so much.
But marky mark really is that isn't he?
I don't mind spoilers at all. I love seeing how it plays out. Jack Nicholson has been fantastic too.
You are now aware that stock images are named like that so they show up in lots of searches.
For ages into the movie I thought that Matt Damon and Leo were playing the same character and I had no idea what the fuck was going on. The same thing happened with Schindler's List.
normies will deny this
Goddamn Costello's a snitch too? Fuck I did not see that coming at all.
He's based off of Whitey Bulger, so it was a logical move/
I'm learning a lot from this movie. So married men are more likely to get promotions since they seen more reliable.
And Costello just pulled out a black dildo.
They think your cock works
>Watching the departed for the first time right now
>Only an hour in but he's been incredible
Who the FUCK interrupts a film they haven't seen to make a thread on an imageboard?
I thought Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg were the same guy.
I always thought this did win an Oscar...
One of Scorsese's weaker movies
Not OP, but I'm likewise. Years of flicking neurotically between 50 open tabs has made it impossible for me to focus on one thing or more than a few seconds. I'll typically watch about 30 seconds of a movie, pause, go look at the internet, another 30 seconds, pause again, play a few minutes of FTL, and so on. I'll usually get about two-thirds of the way through a film over the course of a few days then just lose interest.
I'm honestly not sure if you're just joking or not at this point.
He's not. I do this too.
Wahlberg's accent was real. Wasn't Damon's sort of real, like he has a bit of a Boston accent but spread it on a bit thicker for the movie?
Are you people retarded or am I getting memed on?
>Be watching this movie in the theater
>start wondering to myself why the movie is called "the departed"
>leo gets shot in the head as I finish my thought
>Iunderstandnow.jpg
Scorsese won for best director, and the film itself won best picture. It also won best adapted screenplay and best editing.
you should honestly force yourself to sit and watch the movie
the facebook generation was a mistake
Damon is from Cambridge, which is boston adjacent.
I guess this means you're not able to read books right? Sorry but your lives sound pretty depressing.
Wahlberg's sounded the thickest to me but I don't really know the agent. This film is getting real tense now.
To be fair I'd take his worst over most of his peer's best.
My favorite movie ever. Have watched it at least once a year since it was made.
I also didn't know America has actual pubs.
True enough. It's still decent but it has so many weaknesses. The romantic triangle stuff is brutally bad.
the departed isn't that good because better movies exist
this movie felt like scorsese making a mockery of his own movies. i really didn't like it that much.
I thought Mark Wahlberg was Matt Damon until the credits of The Other Guys.
You’re addicted to dopamine. It’s going to ruin your life like it did mine
I thought Mar Whalberg was Marky Mark, of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, for years.
Why do you say that?
You fucking dips. They were in the same room or area in so many scenes. What did you think this was another Fight Club?
Take your medication spaz.
I would love, but also hate, to be your friend. I'd be glad for the opportunity to tie you up with duct tape and make you just sit and watch a fucking film for once. But I would hate that someone like you exists for me to justify doing that.
I think that was his stage name.
They say “the departed” like 100 times throughout the movie
Reading is for nerds. God I fucking hate nerds.
Holy fucking shit they just threw him off the building. Shit.
Sarge it's a fucking body
No it's true. I couldn't work out why Schindler was simultaneously kind and protective of the Jews in his factory, yet violent and cruel to the Jews he controlled at the concentration camp, which I assumed was attached to his factory as a source of labor. I just assumed that the movie was portraying him as a very complicated man.
What kind of name for a street is Wash street? were they trying to get the people to wash themselves?
Books are no problem, for some reason. I can read for hours. It's just film that fails to hold my attention.
>The romantic triangle stuff is brutally bad
I think this is one reason I started out thinking they were the same guy. Apparently a lot of people had a similar confusion in The Prestige, thinking both brothers where the same person.
I'M A SAILOR PEG
are you just now realizing Sup Forums is for sub 100 IQ brainlets with faceblindness and autism?
My favourite movie, unironically. I love the aesthetic and editing and pacing. So goood.
the whole thing seemed like he was trying to recreate goodfellas and casino but it didn't really work for me because the story didn't seem to fit that type of style
It was short for Washington. Damn they are going to talk to each other?!
No Leo's running. The only guy who didn't want him dead is now dead.
No shit they are talking.
I thought Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg were the same guy until Mark shot him. confusing movie
AND I LOST MY LEG
The Departed is better than Memefellas.
>The Departed is better than Memefellas.
LMAO you're a funny guy
Departed was KINO
Are people genuinely stupid?
Goodfellas isn't bad but it's not as thrilling as The Departed.
I think you may have brain damage
Fucking hell these cops are dirty as fuck. They had another snitch? Jack Nicholson must have more than one too.
goodfellas wasn't trying to be a thriller
the helicopter scene in goodfellas is pretty thrilling but i know what you mean
Jokes on you bitch, I don't have faceblindness. Only nightblindness, and who the fuck can see in the dark?
Hamill will play Costello in the sequel
(((They))) can see in the dark
Maybe it's just preference then.
Goodfellows feels like a completely different movie. I didn't even think of it. That's why I like Scorsese all his movies feel really different. To me at least.
from a certain point of view
the goodfellas are bad
when Matt shot Mark, I thought it was sort of like a fight club twist where he was shooting himself and killing his past. the movie was confusing as hell
i like the story of the departed, it's just everything surrounding it didn't quite fit
Agree to disagree. It's like the Bourne movies on crack and I love it.
so this is the power of Sup Forums, woah. I always knew you were brainlets
i think i would have liked it more if the crack wasn't involved. departed was very very jumpy. one scene leo is talking to the therapist and the next scene he's breaking into some random guys apartment and shooting out his knees. it's stuff like that throughout the whole movie. shit needed to take a xanax or something.
I can't believe you can just delete police records that easily.
I love it you get the sense of how erratic Leo's life must be. I feel so sorry for this guy he lived a complete shit hard life.
shut up nerd. LOL
I found that sequence comfy. The way he's driving around doing all his little errands, stopping back at home to make sure the sauce is being stirred properly.
i need my hat
Man fuck this ending. This is how it ends? What fucking injustice.
Leo and Mark aren't actually dead. It's just a movie. I think Martin Sheen might actually be dead tho. I don't really care.
how is Damon being killed injustice?
Oh at least Damon got killed too.
