KENOBI story from the current draft by Tony Gilroy (R1 script doctor). The script will be written by whoever they hire as the director (NOT Daldry; no longer attached).
First of all, this movie has NO lightsaber scenes. If you didn't like the spirituality of TLJ, you're not going to enjoy this. Obi-Wan's journey strongly parallels Luke's in TLJ.
There are also NO Force ghosts in this movie. Qui-Gon Jin appears in dreams, but not in the real-world surroundings like Ben in the OT.
Obi-Wan is destroyed by Anakin's betrayal and wants nothing to do with the Empire or the rebels (not an alliance yet). He only cares about protecting Luke.
To this end, he has almost shut himself off from the Force. He can still use the Force, but decides not to for his daily routine.
He lives in a settlement which is frequently raided by the Huts, who are gathering resources to defend themselves against the Empire.
One day, Obi-Wan has enough and fights back against a bounty hunter who robs his landlord. The bounty hunter essentially beats Obi-Wan up and nearly shoots him, but Obi-Wan is spared when the landlord offers her child's nanny droid.
Obi-Wan realises he almost left Luke vulnerable by getting involved, and vows to keep his distance.
Now he gets disturbing dreams, which serve as flashbacks to his youth. However, they are "corrupted" by the Force. As a child, Qui-Gon took Obi-Wan to a Coruscant underworld neighbourhood, to intercept a Hut clan terrorising everyone with "taxes".
Here, it becomes unclear where the real flashback ends and the "Forceback" begins. Obi-Wan says they must kill the huts for the greater good of the people. Qui-Gon asks why the Jedi must be involved, as the Force "wills" everything. Obi-Wan, now an adult, asks Qui-Gon why the Force willed Anakin to betray the Jedi. Qui-Gon has no answer, but tells Obi-Wan he has a greater part to play. (cont.)
