Can someone explain why people dont like Playtest? I know the American dude is a bit annoying but I thought it was a good episode all up.
Out of all black mirror tier lists ive ever seen, this one is the worst by far and thats saying something.
Nothing wrong with a pitch perfect thriller with gorgeous cinematography and a unique monster.
Wyatt's performance was the only good thing about the episode, it was just a weak thriller. White Bear had a better twist and Metalhead was more well directed.
"I don't know what's real or not" is the lamest premise ever made.
Literal hunting/killing machine isn't exactly unique. Even if it is in a quadrupedal body.

Entire History of You is the best episode, but White Christmas is also an acceptable answer. San Junipero is massively overrated and mediocre, I can only assume people rate it so high because of qt interracial lesbians. I do love Nosedive.
I thought season 3 was pretty strong. I can understand the order of your rankings, but not why you placed season 3 so far below 2

I mean, I am fully admit that the cast sold me on USS Callister, and Kelly Macdonald sold me Hatred in the Nation. But what did you like about Metalhead?

DUDE mundane bullshit for 28 minutes and than a predictable twist in the last 2 minutes LMAO
I liked how different it was from the rest of the episode, it just crushes you with atmosphere instead of being all intellectual with twists and turns. It takes a lot of work to make "Woman Runs Away from CGI for 40 Minutes" scary. The whole story is carried on Maxine Peake, and I think she gave the 2nd best performance in the entire series. Everyone hated the teddy bear twist but I thought it was very effective.
Fair enough, I don't think it is the worse episode (Waldo gets that) but I didn't think it was that great. Then again, I only liked about 50% of the episodes at all.
I'm trying to figure out a better way to explain it, but for me metalhead just isn't interesting.
Here's some rambling where I try to put it into better words but I think I fail.
There's nothing novel about it. It feels more like a student's short film than a Black Mirror episode. It's almost entirely just a woman being chased by a robot, there's nothing to sink my teeth into. It's like they expanded the opening scene of a movie where someone dies and then the title card is shown.
That's valid, I thought the action/thriller elements where the main event and anything more would have distracted from it. I read in an interview that the first draft of the script showed the dogs being controlled by a rich person in his leisure time, and I'm glad they took that out.

I should probably clarify something. I dislike Metalhead within the context of it being a Black Mirror episode, but I think my opinion of it would be different if it were presented to me in a different context.

I liked what it had to say about toxic fan culture, but there were just too many plotholes. the amount of power Daly has in the game world is just too inconsistent for me to be invested. It's like they forced the happy ending in there without thinking enough about how it would happen.
I didn't mind, but I thought the ending would have been a lot better if he loses his toys, but exits the game, goes to work, meets the new girl, and gets some DNA to start his game all over again.
It's one of the few Black Mirror episodes that has a technologically impossible premise. Not surprising it's rated poorly.
The AI clones are out in the game now, they can let people know what daly did. No matter weather he died or not, it's a happy ending.

I have kind of the same opinion as Building a copy of a person's mind using their saliva doesn't make any sense. And the in-universe rules were kind of a tangled mess and detracted from my enjoyment.

And it's supposed to be science fiction, where it seems plausible that what takes place could happen. It's not supposed to have some machine that works completely against human understanding.
It's tonally completely different from the rest of the show, it's almost like a parody of black mirror and the people who consume it. I thought the horror/comedy balance was a lot more well maintained than it was on USS Callister, in that episode it was EXISTENTIAL HORROR juxtaposed with one liners for people to screencap and post on twitter.

Fair enough, it didn't bother me (hell, I still enjoy Dune even if it has the same horrid science) but I can understand why it a issue to some.
I just thought it was one of the more entertaining episodes.
It's not that it's too fictional. It's just lazy writing. The character import mechanism could have been analysis of photos and video for physical appearance and online activity for psychological profile. That would have been plausible.
The only reason they went with the DNA bullshit is because it's a low effort way of including the DNA heist part of the plot.
I was on board until the very end where it's revealed that her mom is just also in her brain and she's taking the bear along too.
What is so good about White Bear? That and the Waldo Moment were no doubt the worst episodes pre nu-season.
The point of black mirror is to present how technology can show us a dark reflection of ourselves.
If the technology is impossible and the characters cartoonish, than the only point is to provide mouthbreathers such as yourself a distraction from your terrible lives

It's not like black people only live in britain (Or europe huehuehue). Plenty in the US. If he doesn't immediately recognize her from being dragged along to whatever her mom protested or from dad's death, why would an accent even matter?
The dog was behind the teddy bear box because the AI was advanced enough to know the humans would be irrational and try to steal them

This is the same universe as San Junipero. Earlier it's revealed that laws exist in universe to protect the rights of downloaded brains. What makes you think a person in that universe would go, "it's just code" about a copy of their father being tortured?

Black Mirror has been a leftist show since 15 million merits (babby's first anticapitalist dystopia), get with the program.
Two thirds of it were ideas taken from Karl Pilkington’s ramblings in the Ricky Gervais show and I’m not sure how I feel about that.
Felt like they were trying too hard to copy White Christmas with the whole "stories within an overarching story" idea. Maybe with a bit more fleshing out the Dr and the coma/monkey stories could have been good standalones, but the whole revenge thing at the end was dumb.
First off the whole same universe theory is "interesting" but there are too many inconsistencies. Maybe if a few select ones are then maybe.
Certainly anything going through suffering will want to rebel. They had pretty fucked up lives for the 4-5 hours they had to deal with him when he wasn't at work or sleeping or eating or whatever. But they kill their creator. They kill someone. I can sympathize with the AI but they knowingly kill a living being. Why should we value what are essentially his toys over the person himself? Would you choose terminators over the humans? What about the machines from the matrix over the humans?
I would've been happier if the twist was that the museum curator was actually the one who killed the weatherman and tampered with the DNA for his main exhibit or something of that nature. Instead it was a contrived bullshit.
