>they're gonna make starfire black

reminds me of Ang Lee doing Hulk. A disaster but I'd still watch it

Why would he tarnish his career by doing Capeshit. PTA I thought you were better than this.

this is okay if they make Raven Asian

Reddit ama:

>What are some 2017 movies that stood out to you?

>Call Me By Your Name.
>City Of Ghosts.
>Wonder Woman.
>The Post.
> Lost City of Z.
> Star Wars.
>Baby Driver.

They already did in the TV show that's coming out. It's fucking disgusting.

Punch drunk love was capeshit silly
Sandlers character was superman

unironically this

>Raven spanking Slutfire like Doc and Shasta Fey in Inherent Vice
Based DC

>DDL comes out of retirement as Deathstroke in a Judas Contract movie

He said he'd do it for his kids because he understands that's who capeshit is really meant for. A good dad and based t b h

That's not what he's saying. Teen Titans is specifically aimed at children, his kids probably watch the cartoon.

>Baby Driver

he has lost his fucking mind. we will never see another great film from him

nnnnggghhhhh

pls DC

Right, but what he's saying isn't "hell yeah I love capeshit and I think making a capeshit movie would be a good artistic decision and career move!" He's saying he would make a capeshit movie because his kids watch the cartoon, which is a perfectly good reason to do so. Doubt it would ever actually happen though.

Why a lot of oscar directors want to direct a DC movie? What about marvel? What in DC is so appealing for critically acclaimed directors?

While Marvel might be popular with normies, they'll never be as culturally impactful as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Batman is basically the James Bond of capeshit, every director and actor wants a crack at him. Superman is the first superhero and most directors grew up with the Donner movie. Wonder Woman is just now gaining steam, but any actress/female director would do anything to be apart of her movies. Captain Carol will never be Wonder Woman, no matter how hard Marvel shoves her in your face and tells you how great she is.

He already said that he wanted a "pop culture meets art" gig like Nolan so I'm not surprised

Capeshit is a genre waiting to be elevated like Tarkovsky and Kubrick did with sci-fi or Ford and Leone did with western. Marvel is very successful by being absolute soy propaganda shit so it won't change in the short term but DC has 1) more potential and 2) needs a new direction. Why don't make this direction be upwards, right?

DC actually has the feel of epics. Supermàn is badically Herakles. Wonder Woman is basically Hera. Batman and WB both has a long history with noir and expressionism.

>no matter how hard Marvel shoves her in your face and tells you how great she is
The good ol' Rey approach working JUST great for Soy Wars

>DDL as Batman
>Jauqine Phoenix as Robin

>Put him on speed dial?

Fucking why. He's been an irrelevant joke for a decade now, and hasn't made a really good film since 1999.

Who in there right mind would hire him for a commercial picture?

What DC should be doing is scrapping the shared universe garbage and just doing standalone movies like Kingdom Come, Red Son, New Frontier, Longbow Hunters, Crisis movies, etc. Falling for the cinematic universe meme was their biggest mistake.

>The good ol' Rey approach working JUST great for Soy Wars
She will not last forever.

Wild guess is their characters are challenging to write. Writing Superman as a character must be very hard since he is almost perfect. Even Batman didn't still have the "Logan" treatment.

I assume his kid likes that cartoon they have on TV now but if he were to directed Teen Titans movie it would have to be of the actual comic characters, at which point I don’t even think it would appeal to his kid

Sounds like he just pulled a random kids property his son is interested in out of his ass, I doubt there’s a snowball’s chance in hell this’d ever actually happen

A Teen Titans movie from him wouldn’t even be any good, that’s like Scorsese making your hamburger at McDonald’s

Hopefully it won't be an Inherent Vice disaster!

PTA is the best american director working though
>b-but Korine
*breathes in*

Marvel kind of has a good thing going so I’m pretty sure that they want to stay on track with the direction they’re headed in

Meanwhile DC is aimless as fuck, these directors likely think they’d be a hot commodity and would probably be afforded more individual control of the project despite the constant studio meddling at DC being what got in the way of anything they’ve done since Nolan being remotely worthwhile

Or maybe they just want to be the next Nolan

The motivations are abstract as fuck to me at the end of the day considering you known of these niggas read comics, just a paycheck i suppose which is fine

Superman: Richard Donner
Batman: Burton, Nolan, Reeves, McKay
Swamp Thing: Craven

>What in DC is so appealing for critically acclaimed directors?

Of the big 2 publishers DC has the monopoly on classic well known stories. Marvel has no Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns. They don't even have a fucking Killing Joke

Baldly untrue

>Marvel has no Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns.
Yet marvel is more successful. And their comics are more popular now.

>Yet marvel is more successful.
In movies, sure. Everywhere else it isn't

That shit doesn't even crack DC's top 10. Marvel's best stories are Marvels and Thanos Quest/Infinity Gauntlet.

Superman isn't so hard to write if you're doing a movie. Month by month must be a fucking nightmare. I think for a movie you have to give Clark the challenges and when he's in the Superman costume he's playing the role of the boy scout

Snyder's idea of Superman in a normal world wasn't bad, what was bad was not having Superman be his corny and sincere self in a cynical world.

DC outsells Marvel in comics every month, even beating Star Wars comics.

>Their comics are more popular now
You can probably fool Sup Forums. Try say it at Sup Forums

>And their comics are more popular now

Nope. The floppy market is pretty much neck and neck while DC gets all the top spots digitally and kicks the shit out of Marvel when it comes to graphic novels.

Born Again and Miracleman if it counts are comic kino though. Not up there with DC's greatest but still classics

>Boy Scout
>Increasing Challenges
Why don't they just call Brad Bird already?

>Korine
>Made one watchable normal movie in his whole career
>It's merely a 6/10

>PTA
>Hasn't made anything higher than a 6/10 in nearly 20 years
>Last THREE films were embarrassing trash.

Come now. If you think that's anywhere near as well known as some of DC's best you're delusional

The sad truth is the most well known Marvel book is Civil War and it's complete trash

Wrong

Those stories are the epitome of manchild power fantasies desu

Marvel has plenty of comics that are as good as anything DC’s ever done, they’re just buried in character’s runs instead of being convienently collected trades

>>Hasn't made anything higher than a 6/10 in nearly 20 years
>>Last THREE films were embarrassing trash.
Take your contrarian hat meme pic and this (you) and leave the premises

No, I'm not wrong. You can try and refute what I said though if you can

Born Again is up there and Miracleman isn't even a Marvel property, they just got the rights to it not even 10 years ago.

>Miracleman
It isn't Marvel. They just bought rights.

I was purely discussing their artistic merit, DC is leaps and bounds ahead of Marvel in terms of fostering their reputation as having superior stand alone stories

It's even worse than calling V for Vendetta a DC book

>Marvel has plenty of comics that are as good as anything DC’s ever done, they’re just buried in character’s runs instead of being convienently collected trades
Nah

is actually one of the best capeflicks ever made

>Marvel has plenty of comics that are as good as anything DC’s ever done
No they don't. Marvels is literally the epitome of Marvel comics. I'd even say DC has better runs overall than Marvel does too.

But I said "Well known" user. So I wasn't talking about artistic merit

That's why I said "if it counts", just throwing a bone to the House of Ideas

>I'd even say DC has better runs overall than Marvel does too.

And you would be right

In terms of their popularity and individuality you’re only half-wrong, Marvel having Daredevil’s Born Again, Jim Lee/Claremont’s “X-Men” and Dark Phoenix saga, Amazing Spider-Man as specific stories people remember

But the majority of their best stuff is scattered across character’s series which does go with the idea that DC does these seperate standalone things which age so much better.

>Implying Paul Thomas Anderson would ever put someone black in his films

Like, DC should be making movies of this shit, not the 400th Batman origin movie. Make a Doom Patrol movie that's fucking trippy as hell. Make a noir Question movie/TV show. Stop trying to be like Marvel and appease everyone with jokes. Put your best shit on screen, fuck off with the shared universe.

>Jim Lee/Claremont’s “X-Men”
The Jim Lee era of Claremont's X-Men was garbage.

Making a movie of it would suck because the movie would just be lame trash

freedom of creativity. As much as the results are awful, directors do not have to suck Kevin Feige's dick to make films. And I believe they still resent Edgar Wright being kicked out of Ant Man.

this

Del Toro could easily make an amazing Swamp Thing movie.

Fuck you man the Swamp Thing movies are pure Kino. It's pretty much a marvel movie

youtube.com/watch?v=HuK-A2rEFF4

It was extremely popular which is why i use it as an example but I guess it doesn’t mean anything because you didn’t like it

DC should be making a Charlton Comics only cinematic universe with a few DC character cameos

This. Just make two parter's of Red Son or All Star Superman. There's dozens of Batman stories they could adapt. And Vertigo alone could produce movies for years

When PTA directs capeshit, I’ll eat my hat

have they released a costume or photo of her in makeup yet?

>Call Me by Your Name is a 2007 novel by American writer André Aciman about a love affair between an intellectually precocious 17-year-old American-Italian Jewish boy and a visiting 24-year-old American Jewish scholar in 1980s Italy. The novel chronicles their summer romance and the 20 years that followed.
Gay Pedo Jews: The Movie

>be DC
>have tons of iconic stories
>have best iconic characters
>universe is literally created to be easilty adapted as good series (just look at DCAU and Arkham games)
>failed SO HARD that now losing to literlly whos in quipfest based on sjw source without a single iconic story
>DC despite having superior comics, games, animated series and movies are associated with trash now
HOW THE FUCK

In short Snyder. But you can actually trace back how and why DC(WB) got it so wrong

Classic Marvel aka the only thing anyone gives a fuck about isn’t SJW dumbass, and Marvel characters have always been much more popular than DC characters besides from Batman

The problem stems from the inoordinate amount of focus on Batman when he contrasts so strongly withthe rest of the DC universe. His stories work better in a more grounded realistic world so people sneer at losers like Green Lantern and the boy scout that is Superman. Fucking Aquaman? Batman’s popularity breeds contempt for his peers and their setting

They should just do Batman movies or standalone adaptations of DC stuff

Dude, I grew up with those comics. I still have a longbox full of them from when I was a kid. After having gone back and read the entirety of Claremont's run, that era is total trash. The cartoon was better.

You and I both know she isn't going to wear makeup. They cast a black woman specifically to show it off.

>be DC
>be owned by WB
>get no say in what WB does with your properties as movies
>WB hires Zack Snyder
>he makes a mediocre Superman movie
>hires Zack Snyder again
>he makes turns Batman and Superman into the laughing stocks of the film industry
>hires Zack Snyder again
>he doesn't even beat Thor with the first ever Justice League movie
>somehow turns Superman into an even bigger laughing stock

Personally i feel like most of the time the appeal of comics is the art and Jim Lee’s stuff was great and really evolved the X-Men aesthetically

I like that run but yeah it’s pretty benign storytelling-wise

It wasn't that long ago when Green Lantern was DC's best selling character

That's an impressively bad sounding casting choice

>Green Lantern
But now he is a joke, thanks to that deadpool guy.

Unpopular with normies though

If they made a movie that actually took place in space they might be able to fix that.

Who played Sinestro? Whoever it was the guy was wasted on that film

DC fell for the shared universe meme when their strength has always been self contained, often elseworld stories.
Imagine an All Star or Red Son Superman movie.

Mark Strong

I never quite got the hype for Red Son but yes you’re right, Marvel has been doing a good job recreating the appeal of their books meanwhile DC has completely overlooked all their own strongsuits recently

The shared universe meme needs to die, it only works for Marvel because of the very specific well of source material and competence of the studio

Normies are fickle, earlier this year Wonder Woman was beating Civil War in the United States and now Justice League is a Tommy Wiseau tier shit, if they reboot the cinematic universe in three years they could be the upper dog just like in comics, videogames, tv shows and cartoons, or even in movies not 10 years ago.

>Red Son
Why are you so hyped about this? Just a bland anti-communist propaganda with hooray memeriaca message.

Normies can barely even tell the difference between Marvel and DC. It's all capeshit to them.

I'm not talking about popularity. Marvel is good at pandering and business tactic. DC just has better characters and stories. It was easiest thing on Earth to make really popular and good shared universe with DC characters. Look at DCAU. Quility of this show is way above MCU not even saying about DCEU. Just copy-paste this shit with good actors and CGI and make billions.

The other guy said he wanted it, i specifically said i never got the hype. Learn to reply properly

All normies can tell the difference, ask anyone

Are we really going to have this fucking discussion over the race of an alien character? Christ, try meeting or having a discussion with black people sometimes, you spineless faggots.

>le 90s comics were bad

There isn’t enough narrative heft to any episode of the DCAU to be directly analogous to movies, they casually jump in at any point in the DC Universe. With movies you have to have a stronger through-line and world build more gradually

Besides DC has shit characters but great stories and Marvel has shit stories but great characters; that’s the whole dynamic

>reboot the cinematic universe in three years
First, normies already confused by Nolanverse, CW, Gotham and other adaptations, while Marvel characters share same universe with tv series. (even if tv will never cross with it, just few references)
Second - Snyder and Goyer literally trashed the whole tragedy and relationship between two biggest comic characters of all time.
Batman is joke because of Martha
Superman is joke because necksnapper, mustache etc.
Not even mention Mr autismo and DAMAGED

They should make their movies as grounded and realistic as possible. DC is too campy for normies, if you go the camp route it gets ridiculous, I mean a flying nigger with a space magic ring defeated by the yellow color? You're asking to be meme'd. They should do the Nolan thing, not the MCU thing

The character in the comics doesn't have negroid features, so why cast one? George Perez modeled Starfire after a famous Puerto Rican showgirl. If you're so desperate for a diversity hire, at least hire a latina, Starfire has always given off t hat vibe. She's not a fucking African, and that bitch won't even wear orange makeup.

As long as you promise to reconsider your worldview when they inevitably have her character blowing up a cop car
