It was about an hour too long. The climax was ace, though.

Critics jumped on the bandwagon to bash this film; I'm convinced most of them didn't watch it. It was good.

I can't remember a thing that happened in the film except for the music kicking in.

This. Cut everything with Helen Mirren and Tonto framing the story at the carnival out of the film and bam, 4 star adventure film.

I've often held opinions that run relatively closely to the critics consensus but this is one of the times in the last 5 years where I really became aware that my opinions were starting to diverge.

Why is Armie Hammer not in Hollywood? He’s tall, handsome, and charamastic so what’s the problem?

Pacing issues aside, it's a better action-adventure blockbuster than all the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels.

Too tall & too Euro-handsome. He's 1/8th Jewish, but he's a mix of tons of European nationalities (Russian, English, Greek, Irish even I think) which makes him seem a bit too "perfect". He's not the guy you picture as the modern-day "progressive" hero. He's the guy you get to play the evil, opressive King.

Folks will say he's not a good actor, but I liked him well enough in everything. Not everyone can be DDL. He deserves more roles. In a just universe, he or Nikolaj would've been say, Aquaman, instead of Momoa.

Though really he just needs that one breakout role. He's been in a lot and just had a more adventurous sort of role this year and will probably have an Oscar nomination by March. His time will come.

It's worth trying to rewatch it. Its not a great movie, but perfect for a sunday matinee kind of watch. Also oneof my favorite ending ever.
