MCU MJ

Face it, Sup Forums, this is your new MJ.

What do you hope to gain

She is not Mary Jane, you stupid fag.

Inb4
>She is "Michelle" not Mary Jane!
>despite having the exact same nickname, they're 100% not related in any way!

Who said she's Mary Jane? She's MJ.

Zendaya's great and Gwen is shit, so good?

And MJ is Mary Jane, dingus.

Sure thing, pedo scum.

So pic not related?

I'd have prefered that they made her regular mary jane and dyed her hair read and called her Mary Jane than calling her Michelle/"MJ"

Simple mathematics, user.

A = B = C

Michelle = MJ = Mary Jane

So, why marvel made a MJ that is NOT Mary Jane? Just to get us triggered?

Who cares if she is black?

Her whiteness doesn't effect her character.

at this point I want to say I like it just to spite faggots like you

>kinky gal to nerdy smartass
Her personality is also different tho,

>if someone has the same initials they are same person
>Peter has been dating Michael Jackson for years

>Who cares if she is black?
Its not even that she's black, she has literally nothing in common with the comic character at all.

Comic MJ:
>Escapes her abusive home life, by living a lavish life full of partying and hitting on guys. Loves being the center of attention and is a model.

MCU MJ
>Social outcast and #blacklivesmatter protester, who prefers shoving her nose into a 2deep4u philosophy book instead of interacting with her peers

Hey guys just an MJ coming through.

>>if someone has the same initials they are same person

Show me a single instance of the MCU introducing two completely different characters that prefer to go by their initials and have the same initials.

...

Did you hate both the previous Gwen and MJ too?

I mean, i get it, but is it a tragedy if it works in the movie? They're just trying not to repeat stuff

>>Social outcast and #blacklivesmatter protester, who prefers shoving her nose into a 2deep4u philosophy book instead of interacting with her peers
>#blacklivesmatter

Fuck off with your Sup Forums shit and watch the movie.

>Did you hate both the previous Gwen and MJ too?

Yes. Dunst's MJ is one of the reasons I dislike Raimi's movies. She has nothing in common with Mary Jane, outside of the name.

This isn't the double standard you want it to be.

Infinity better than the shit they are doing with Mary Jane in the comics. Also, this shit posting about her initials is old and lame. Try harder OP.

Why would you even bother giving your Spider-Man character the initials "MJ" if you don't intend to invoke "the" MJ?

But she goes by Michelle.

Well if they are trying to not repeat stuff they should not be making a goddamn spiderman movie in the first place.

>people who think Mary Jane is just a set of initials and not her own fucking character

Michelle J isn't Mary Jane you dumbasses. They will obviously put in the real Mary Jane so they can do a MJ vs MJ story. She's most likely Michelle Jameson.

Not a Spider-Man character.

So do we have any confirmation that they did this stupid "MJ" thing? Because Im pretty fucking mad if they did considering it means we wont ever see Mary Jane in this series.

>she has literally nothing in common with the comic character at all.
Because she's not the fucking comic character, christ.

Its right in the trailers and all the promo material released.

We have seen plenty of scenes of her preferring to stick to herself. She specifically makes a point to say that she wants to go protest in front of an embassy in one of the clips and all of her books are absolutely 2deep4u philosphical nonsense, like when they show her reading Of Human Bondage in the gym scene (pic related).

So deny it all you want, but facts are facts.

That would be a stupid plot even for capeshit movie makers standarts.

>considering it means we wont ever see Mary Jane in this series.

Proofs?

British MJ:
>lead singer of the Rolling Stones, who prefers shoving his nose in a pile of cocaine instead of interacting with Spider-man. Also has a penis.

She doesn't, she explicitly states in a roll call scene at the end of the movie that she, "Prefers to be called MJ".

I'll stick with this MJ.

And what does that have to do with BLM, let's hear it

>>people who think Mary Jane is just a set of initials and not her own fucking character

As far as movies are concerned, yeah, that's accurate. Movie producers don't give a fuck about the character's actual personality, as evidences by how Raimi's MJ is nothing like comic MJ in any way, other then being female and having red hair.

Good thing Magic Johnson is, then.

More people give a shit about Raimi's Spider-man than any other kind, stay mad.

Correct. She's a stand in. A replacement for the comic character.

Why is this so hard for you to understand.

BLM is the most hipster thing ever right now. And "Michelle" is the personification of counter-culture anarchist hipster.

And all of those people are normie moviefags who have never read a single Spider-Man comic in their life.

They call her MJ one whole time in the movie and it's played as a joke.

Why wouldn't they just call her Mary Jane if that's who she's meant to be? Why have a stand in?

So it's all about your persecution complexes, got it

>and it's played as a joke.
Its not, at all.

Considering that movies are making more money than comics and have a much stronger fanbase at the moment, who gives a shit about the comic fans?

Do you really think they'd have 2 MJs in a movie series? Hopefully they ditch Michelle

>Why wouldn't they just call her Mary Jane if that's who she's meant to be? Why have a stand in?
To add a twist to it?

You know, how Nolan said there is no Robin in his Batman, and that actress was playing Miranda, not Tallia al Ghul?

The BLM bit is bullshit. But otherwise, yeah, Michelle (aka "MJ") is the polar opposite of the MJ we see in comics.

what if it takes Zendaya a couple of years before she really becomes Mary Jane from the comics?

Also I don't think super kinky, centre of the universe type of character would do well in this type of universe. Despite what anyone says, this is a movie more for kids then it is for young adults and I think that's the main reason why Zendaya acts the way she does, it's a better role model for kids.

>They call her MJ one whole time in the movie

And? They call Blake "Robin" a whole one time in the movie and he's canonically the Robin of the Nolanverse. How is this any different?

>Do you really think they'd have 2 MJs in a movie series?

Michelle being the daughter of Spidey's ULTIMATE NEMESIS Jonah Jameson is the most obvious plotline ever, especially when they can set up a running gag where all of Spidey's love interests are daughters of villains (like Liz)

Spidey being confused about there being "two MJ's" is also a super easy joke. It's pretty obvious. Anyone whining about how this means there's no Mary Jane ever has a a huge persecution complex

Could be, they're focusing on teenage drama, a love triangle isn't so out there. Although guys, Michelle shows no romantic interest for Peter at all, so it's not like we're talking about retconning the movie

>and that actress was playing Miranda, not Tallia al Ghul?

Oh fuck. Totally forgot about that. This is effectively the exact same situation with Zendaya's character.

i thought MJ should always be a red-head but one look at this one makes me want to lick her coffee coloured anus.

I would love to 'hit the jackpot'

Is this the most predictable twist ever?
Part of the reason I didn't believe in the MJ rumor was because fucking everybody caught on it months bvefore the movie was out, if it's meant to be a twist it's a fucking failure.

I don't remember Nolan allowing journalists to talk about the twist before the movie is even out

Wait, does it mean JJ would also be black?

Fair enough. I just hated the idea of Sony trying to pull a half assed creation is all. I guess we'll see. After seeing Mary Jane get shit on in comics for so long, I'd at least like to see her in a film series again (Dunst certainly wasnt that great). At least RYVs is still going I guess

considering her name isn't fucking "Mary Jane" it isn't a twist, it's more like a reference

THE CHARACTER ISN'T FUCKING MARY JANE WATSON IN ANY WAY BESIDES HAVING THE SAME INITIALS YOU DIPSHITS

SHE DOESN'T HAVE THE SAME CHARACTER, THE SAME PURPOSE, FUCKING ANYTHING IN COMMON WITH MARY JANE WATSON IT IS A FUCKING REFERENCE

Zendaya looks fairly mixed.

>muh mary jane
what about liz allen, gwen stacy and felicia hardy?

Just like most plot twists in popular movies, it leaked out.

Could be. Fans have been joking about people like Terry Crews playing him for years. But Zendaya's mixed, a white parent could still work. They did that for Liz

Jesus calm the fuck down. That's not what a reference is.

Really? To me she looks like a person who hasnt showered in a week.

Ice Cube was being scouted for JJJ back in the Amazing Spiderman days, and now everyone wants Terry Crews

Liz Allen is in the movie and is Vulture's daughter, but she moves away and doesn't get with Peter. Gwen most likely won't be in it because its too soon after ASM and Felicia is in Sony's shitverse

It's Liz AllAn, not Allen.

>it's more like a reference
I don't think you know what a "reference" is.

Mary Jane or not, I just hope Stan lives long enough to see the "Face it, Tiger" line on film. Ah who am I kidding? Stan will outlive us all

...

How long until Peter is dating the new MJ in the comics?

>Michelle (aka "MJ") is the polar opposite of the MJ we see in comics.

Never stopped the film makers. Remember "Mandarin"? From IM3?

Soon as the Secret Empire stuff is over, I'm guessing. Gotta have that sweet, sweet synergy.

When Slott gives Otto his own "Death of Mary Jane" arc

mfw the next Spidey girl in the movies is Ann Marie

>Never stopped the film makers. Remember "Mandarin"? From IM3?

Yes, that's my point. I was agreeing with the user's larger point, just not about the moronic BLM notion.

>Lists his fanfiction.
>"It's pretty obvious."

The thing that pissed me off is, instead of just making her Mary Jane we get a ripoff Sony OC character who's nickname is MJ.

It's lazy as fuck, and really sad they have to fool people into thinking she's Mary Jane.

Slott will introduce a new girl named Melanie Juarez so he can pander to the movie casuals with the MJ nickname without ruining his plan of leaving "important" personal marks on the character's history forever

Are we finally going to get our so much wanted midget porn?

Its so Sony can have it both ways. If people bitch about it, they say, "See! Its -Michelle-, not Mary Jane!"

And then when people bitch that they want Mary Jane, they just go, "Well, we've already got a MJ!"

And if people embrace it, they get fancy diversity points.

Exactly.

I don't think the MCU has ever mentioned race even once film wise.

What about Flash, Ned, Liz...
Why should they shy away from one but not all the others. Why do you think they'd assume Sup Forumsacks bitching would ever be relevant and hurt the movie

this movie has a bigger problems that "muh mj"
>lize allen the love interest is 6 years older than peter
>they don't care about flash so they threw him under the bus
>already confirming there's miles morales even though it's only the first fucking film with parker
>completely missing the point of ned leeds character
>betty is now a blonde and a high schooler
and the biggest of all, tony fucking stark making his suit, already knowing he's the peter parker and all the other shit

not even sony made mistakes like that. the eternal mouse needs to stopped

She's half white. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if she was whiter than Vanessa Williams

Her being Vultures daughter made more sense than anything else. She's mixed, Keaton's white, keep her last name secret for that specific reason and not the same shit as Star trek, Ironman 3 and TDKR. I honestly wish they just went with that.

Well for one, Mary Jane is a far more iconic character than any of them (Flash obviously gaining popularity recently because of the Agent Venom stuff, but still).

If anything, Sony is probably banking on the fact that race controversy brings attention to their movie and gets more people in theater seats, just to be apart of said controversy.

If its received well, they get diversity points. If it backfires and is poorly received, they still got their money.

is she really Michelle J or is this a joke?

She really is. Despite how bullshit the rumors seemed, they're true.

Get a load of those oven-dodgers in the top left kek

Wel Zendaya isn't Vulture's daughter. Someone else is though

Fair comparison I guess, but I'd say the difference is that there's no other actual first name given for her like with Talia's reveal or Blake's weird, last minute scene. She doesn't take Pete aside and tell him to call her Mary or anything like that. If her real name is Mary Jane, then why not do what TDKR did, and have her reveal it during the movie?

Will normies be upset and confused about MJ?

What controversy can there be for a character who is explicitly not anyone from the comics?

>but I'd say the difference is that there's no other actual first name given for her like with Talia's reveal or Blake's weird

That's irrelevant, the nickname "MJ" is iconic all on its own. When people hear or read that name in a comic context, everyone thinks of a single character.
