Kylo. Everything else was alright to meh.
No, i actually think that TLJ had more potential, dont get me wrong, both were piles of shit but theres some minimal concepts and ideas on TLJ that could have been exploited if were well developed. In some way that actually makes it a wordt movie because it makes it more frustrating
No. They did not have young and handsome Jedi like Luke in original series and Anakin in prequel series.
#disneyNotCanonStarWars
It had a coherent storyline, the special effects were good and the acting was decent. However, it was also a virtual scene by scene remake of ANH. Which didn't bother me at the time since I just thought "Well they have to restart the franchise and this seems to be a good way to do it"
I agree with what you said about TLJ. I tried to be open minded, but after mulling it over for the past month, I realized that it was disappointing. Makes me hate Rian Johnson.
The nuwars films are a primary example of why diversity casting and writing is a bad idea.
Because characters casted for diversity's sake are supposed to be a "good" representation of their respective race/gender/whatever and act as "heroes" for children of said race/gender/whatever to look up to, they cannot do any wrong or have flaws or really be interesting in any way.
Case in point: Rey and Finn. Rey grew up on a fucking junk planet, fighting and pillaging scrap to survive. Somehow she grew up to be a perfect amazing badass awesome great at everything person with next to no flaws or faults.
In the real world young female children abandoned in backwards shitheaps become whores very young and continue being whores and doing drugs until they die. See: Carrie Fisher. But of course REY somehow was just THAT amazing that she became a perfect human being with no flaws from her traumatic past.
And then there's finn. Dude was a fucking stormtrooper, taken as a child and trained to be an elite space nazi death goon but of course he's a completely nice good well adjusted guy with no PTSD or antisocial tendencies or really anything to indicated he was raised in an evil nazi space cult.
And then somehow the bad guy who is spergy antisocial autist with extreme anger issues and a grandaddy fetish is actually an interesting character with flaws and problems DESPITE having Han Solo as a Father, Leia as a mother and Luke Skywalker as an Uncle/mentor.
Really they should have just thrown him on a shithole planet and he'd have turned out better.
I thought of it as trying to ease the fans in by having it mirror the OT before it came into its own. Like a transitionary film.
>And then there's finn.
He's also the comif relief character now. All around terrible.
>black guy is comic relief
REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST! REY CYST!
to clarify, not you, user. disney is the rey cyst clinging to comical black guy stereotype.
it was garbage
Exactly, i saw avoided threads on Sup Forums shitting on it after watching it and tried to make the best of it since i was already there but it was shit from the mere start, fucking "your mama" jokes...
I really liked this scene. It's a shame the movie is all downhill from there.
I don't know if this counts as liking it, but I didn't hate it as much as other people seem to. Here's some of the stuff I like: the scenes with Rey on Jakku before they get on the Millennium Falcon and she turns into a Mary Sue, most of Kylo Ren's stuff(wrecking shit when he's pissed, hitting himself in the last battle), I like Poe Dameron. That's all I can think of right now, there's probably some other stuff. Overall it's a very average movie, but because it has the Star Wars name on it it gets more shit than it deserves.
>but because it has the Star Wars name on it it gets more shit than it deserves.
Probably more praise for that reason as well.
It would have been a good movie if they’d bothered to explain what the hell was going on in the galaxy at the time. It’s objectively well-paced, well-shot, and with several good performances.
Don’t blame the actors for having to interpret shit characters. Ridley and Boyega have the acting chops to do a engaging, non-shitty performance if they weren’t given bland YAAASSS lines to read.
Oh, for sure, I'm not saying all the soyboys who were rushing out to praise it blindly were right. The thing is I probably spend too much time here, so I'm mostly exposed to the negative opinion, and I get tired of the
>trash
>garbage
>worst movie ever
echo chamber.
Sup Forums's contrarianism has gotten increasingly insufferable the past couple years
Did someone say REY CYST???
Seriously, I'm not sure if that was intentional, but Daisy Ridley actually has chronic endometriosis and ovarian cysts
I wasn't too impressed with it at first. Was really light and fun you could say. After watching TLJ and going back to watch it, I can safely say it's much of the same, but Kylo Ren is a lot more interesting than I initially thought. I think overall, the only thing the ST has going for it is him and his bond with Rey.
Yeah, that's the only thing I'm looking forward to in episode ix. I'm hoping Luke's return as a Force ghost is done well
Same. Did they actually confirm Luke is coming back a forceghost? Would be pretty disappointed if it was just fan assumptions and it doesn't happen.
DISNEY ABOMINATIONS ARE NON-CANON VERY-EXPENSIVE FAN-FICTION
#boycottDisney
That probably would have been the case if Rian Johnson was writing it. I'm pretty sure I read Mark signed a contract for all three movies.
The visuals, and kylo had some redeeming qualities
The Force Awakens is shit. Just because TLJ is smellier does not change that they are both shit.
Both were recycled shit. Nothing new was introduced except the slow ass bombers.
kylo is irredeemable and relentlessly ugly
That actually sucks for her, if true.
I don't really care about the franchise and was looking for a reason to not watch any more of them. I had a pretty great time and didn't mind most of the plotholes, I even audibly kekked at the purple hair and Porg bullshit. But by the end I kind of was looking forward to seeing what Luke would do in the next one, but then he just died of exhaustion.
At first I was confused, but then I thought, I never need to see any of these again so I ended up getting what I wanted.
Things I genuinely liked:
>Kylo betraying Snoke and then asking Rey to join him, pretty cool and very Sith
>Luke and R2D2 scene, great narrative flourish and awesome callback
>New force powers; there are no rules faggots
>Cool X-Wing S-Foil popping shit at the beginning, nice sequence and didn't mind the prank call: Han literally did this shit but hated the Jar-Jar-esque BB8 sequence
The rest was okay to bad, but I still had a good enough time, was never bored, and now I can move on from this faggotry and live my life. How did tou fucking idiots not see this mystery box shit coming when JJ has been ruining franchises with half-baked stakes raising for over a decade?
I liked it because it made me move on. I feel stupid for even wanting that nostalgia kick, i could always just watch the trilogy again if that's what i'm after.
>See: Carrie Fisher.
See also: Daisy Ridley if blind items are to be believed
I watched this on release day.
Then I was forced to watch Jumanji due to circumstances.
I unironically liked Jumanji more.
Pretty much, buddy. Sup Forums has circlejerked itself into thinking this is the worst movie ever made. It's not. It's not like it's exactly good either, but...it just is what it is. Seconded on the Snoke thing too.
No, i didn't like Star Wars: Twilight in Space desu.
Lol literally no one else liked it
Didn’t Harrison do the same to reduce speculation?
I was honestly pretty optimistic for the movie. Even got a bit choked up when the music started at the beginning of the title crawl. The crawl itself was weird but the opening shot was really good.
It was all downhill from there unfortunatly. Characters all felt plastic and artificial, with no levity or weight to them. They're all one-dimensional and don't fit their backstory, they're cartoon characters and I didn't manage to care for any of them.
On paper they're all original, but they executed it terribly and the whole story/worldbuilding is just bad. I could come up with better shit on the fly and I'm no writer
