in the end he hands the species in distress one item of a two-item-system that gives them freedom and because (and for the first time ever) its important for him to be a soldier. like... wtf? why did you fight for them all this time if you only gonna be a total dickweed at the end

also the two main charakters have zero chemistry, the guy is a douche basicaly and you never identify with him, and the girl... well... she's the love interest i guess...

after star wars, anything else seems watchable if it even has a cohesive narrative and characters that dont act stupid more than half the time

the decision made by valerian at the end was "off the record". he had rules to follow but nobody would know if he didnt, so he did whatever he felt like after the girl asked him to.

but here are some really wrong points:

wish they just put more cgi space ship/station scences in it instead of pointless dialoges and much too long dance scene.
