>nominees are literally whatever the academy's grandkids enjoyed
>Anime films will never be nominated because nobody cares about 'chinese shit'
>People still consider the awards to be 'prestigious'

The fucking VGA's have more legitimacy than the Oscars.

That god damn article from a few years off absolutely redpilled me on the Oscars, and this just cements it. They don't give half a shit about film outside of their bubble.

None of you have seen this. It's actually very very good.
Easily one of the best animated films of the last 4 years, much better than Coco.

Ebin xddd

what article?

holy fucking shit drumpf BTFO

Animu films have been nominated a few times and spirited away won.
Still bullshit though

L'Chaim !

I'm actually missed reading it again

link?

please explain what's wrong with the movie

Anime is slantie cartoons made for Western manchildren and is, as you say, rarely represented, thankfully.

>comedy

>The Oscars aren't biased against Anime because one film won 15 years ago
Last year Your Name didn't even get a nomination, and Zootopia beat out Kubo. It's an absolute farce, the Oscars distills the absolute worst of Hollywood culture into one gaudy show.

BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS BABY BOSS

Silent Voice not being nominated is a god damn tragedy

>Ebin
Ebin

There was a whole article a couple years back where a anonymous voter was interviewed about how they voted for best animation and they just go with whatever their kid liked

>Out of all of the nominees, I suspect thatGuardians of the Galaxyhad the least amount of visual effects, but I voted for it anyway because I liked it so much.
What an absolute farce

Here's how it goes:
>one Disney inhouse (wins unless there's a Pixar nom)
>one Pixar (always wins)
>one Dreamworks, Fox, or Universal shit
>something from Spain or whatever
>an actual kino that never wins

It's like that every fucking year. Wind Rises, Secret of Kells, Coraline, all fucked by the mouse, since as long as I remember.

>Soy boy wants his animoo week shit to be celebrated.
Don’t infect everyone else senpai

anime is art

this

After Sup Forums kept moaning about how bad it is my brother asked me to watch it with him and it was actually a good wholesome movie about family

Better than the fucking furfag shit that won instead. Hell, I'd had been happy with Kubo winning the award.

>le soyboy meemay
>on an anime image board, complaining about anime

Not even needing to go in to the flaws with the bad jokes, or how Alec Baldwin is a smug fuck who always sounds like a smug fuck, I'll say that the premise is bizarre and twisted and mean spirited.
There is a factory where babies are produced and sorted, to be either sent to families or to corporate where they work in an office doing god knows what (running the factory? PR for baby cuteness). So your parents don't matter. The powerful factory is all that matters. Trust the great machine and not your roots.
Treating babies as objects of cuteness (comparing them to puppies) to the adults in the film is gross. The humanity is taken out of the equation. It's just more propaganda to encourage people in the west not to procreate.
The film takes the perspective of the young boy who hates the idea of having a younger brother, and the audience quickly becomes wrapped in this idea that babies are a gross and bothersome hassle. "Just get a puppy instead" says the movie. And although the film has the traditional happy ending where all is good, the damage has been done already. Those memes have already reached the retards who would choose to watch this mess.

Animated features are a joke. They will always be thought to be made for Children and hold no artistic merits

It was indeed way better than Coco. Not saying it is overall good, but yeah, most people that bitch about it haven't seen it.

what the fuck is this dishonest pasta

The boss baby is trying to get parents back into loving babies rather than opting for puppies. the babies are jealous of puppies

I refuse to believe the movie has any real non-lowing hanging emotional fruit merit after watching the trailer:
youtube.com/watch?v=Ud8j5GaqH3c
It looks like the kind of thing only middle-aged moms would enjoy.
How does it compare to Paddington (2014)?

>m-muh Your Name
neck neck neck neck you are self

wowo tis llok good

Wouldn't say always.
Animated features like Coraline and Wallace & Gromit are pure artistry with great stories to boot.

>How does it compare to Paddington (2014)?
I'd say parents would enjoy Paddington more but kids would enjoy Boss Baby more

Keit-ai finds a way

It's really as good as Shrek

i watched it with my nephew and enjoyed it more than most kid movies, stop hating on it

Fuck sexism, the real insult is the America-centric animation category. There was really nothing else anywhere else in the world better than this garbage? What a fucking joke of a category, at least have a foreign category so we can see something beyond Disney/Dreamworks and whatever pity fuck they throw at Japan that year.

t. clueless normie

Animated features should have never been an Oscar category in the first place because it just encourages shit like this.

Paddington will always be better cos it's a classic

Boss Baby is still a pretty good movie desu

Made In Abyss and Devilman are two of the best shows I've seen all year.

Your Meme and Kubo were shit. So was Zootopia but at least it was entertaining for kids.

Zootopia was great you utter pleb, we need more buddycop stuff in theaters.

I don't think it's a 10/10 film myself but what the Boss Baby has going for it is that its own internal premise is fictional and this is made clear from the outset.

The baby can't talk, he's not a secret agent on a mission to stop an insane puppy magnate. The entire narrative is the imagination of an 8 year old boy trying to rationalize no longer being the only child, and this shows in the way the hyper intelligent baby is initially his rival, an intruder that steals his parent's affections, but as his affection with his little brother grows they become partners in a grand "quest to save the world"

And none of this was hinted at in the advertisement campaign, it was all DUDE STEWIE GRIFFIN SUPERBABY LMAO garbage.

>enjoying children movies

why don't you go and watch more movies with your nephew

>The baby can't talk, he's not a secret agent on a mission to stop an insane puppy magnate. That's a pretty cool way of thinking about I just took it a face value and still enjoyed it

>enjoying children movies
>Sup Forums
>daily capeshit and star wars threads
>daily manchildren shit like Blade Runner and Game of Thrones
>soon endless Dune threads

The Boss Baby isn't bad, but LEGO Batman or Captain Underpants deserved a nomination over it for sure.

>That's a pretty cool way of thinking about
If the opening where the kid is telling the story about his spaceship and dinosaur conflict didn't make this clear, an exclamation point is put on it during the big chase scene where the Boss is trying to steal back the incriminating tape. Remember how you're watching this fast paced, acrobatic struggle where the kid is trying to outrun the Boss's superpowered mini car, but just for a moment the camera cuts into the kitchen where the parents are chatting and the view out the window (that they're ignoring) is actually of a laughing boy and a listless baby playing with a toy car that's moving at a crawling pace?

Over Coco, maybe. It was probably the most boring Pixar film since Brave. If they wanted to make an interesting movie about mexican folk, they should've just made a Mucha Lucha movie.

I haven't seen Coco, but I've heard a lot of mixed things about it. I have heard that The Book of Life is a better version of Coco, but I hadn't seen that either. Coco will win anyway because of Mexican People/Trump era and it's a Pixar film.

this but unironically

Book of Life was way better, lady death was a top qt.

It's so easy to detect a soy boy with their nonsensical posts.

Fuck you all, Coco was great. Boss baby was pretty enjoyable but not nearly as thought provoking

...

t. reddit

>using a pjw meemay
>calling other people's points nonsense

well deserved obviously

lmfao you fucking central americans make me laugh. always jealous.

...

>Guardians of the Galaxyhad the least amount of visual effects, but I voted for it anyway because I liked it so much.

ah I see the contrarians have come. that or Central Americans.

>boss baby
>good

lmao.

I'm just upset about no Disaster Artist for best picture and no pic related for best foreign film... And I'm still getting over the fact that Anomalisa lost Best Animated Picture to Inside Out. Shit makes me angry even though I know the awards are meaningless.

>people don't understand how the nominations work
The branches of the Academy nominate only for their own categories. So it's the animators themselves who thought Boss Baby was one of the best animated features of the year.

>yfw My Little Pony: The Movie didn't even qualify for consideration of any Oscar nominations while Boss Baby might win best animated feature

>The fucking VGA's have more legitimacy than the Oscars.

Does it really though ?

BR2049 was more emotionally rich than The Disaster Artist by a country mile and that didn't get nominated for best picture either.

Can't wait for Boss Baby 2: Sons of Liberty

Also Coco was great man, probably the first great Pixar movie in a long time

why Central Americans?

That movie has a very important and clear anti-anti-natalist message (basically, white genocide).
I hope that it wins.

Paddington is blatant pro-immigration and anti-British propaganda. Anyone who brings their children to watch it knowing what it is about deserves to be executed.

But how do hate paddington

>unironically "wtf I'm a commie now"
It's a cute fun movie with a horrifying message. Like The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, or the Heaven's Gate tapes.

Is that why Miyazaki didn't show up to get his award that one time?

I seriously don't get the "message". Please, do tell.

Fuck off, kike

Anime is the worst form of animation.

The baby says the F-word. I'm literally not joking. The kid walks in when the baby was on the phone and he says "OH FUCK!". No idea how this film got passed the ratings boards

Voter 5 is cold as Ice and dumb as shit. Damn.

When votes are based on what their grandkids enjoyed or when shit like , then maybe they should start enforcing their own rules a little more strictly.

dummy

Made in Abyss was shit

no

I remember reading a quote somewhere that one of the judges for the animated section literally hadn’t seen any of the movies and just went with the one that their grandkids liked most, it was hilarious because they were completely unapologetic about it too. I wish I saved it.

dumb phone poster

That guy talking about Guardians of the Galaxy is clearly some retarded actor or some other non VFX guy because the whole academy votes for the award itself

Unironically yes.
youtu.be/ItxghCQEFBI

>Anime
The award is for animated feature. Seeing as pretty much all anime is animated at a frame rate below what can even be considered animation I see no problem with it not being nominated.

I don't know where to begin, just watch the movie, or google: Paddington immigration. Everyone picked up on that, from both sides. Him being an immigrant and the cultural shock and rejection that ensues is basically the central premise, besides whatever adventure he's in. Obviously you're supposed to feel sorry for him and take his side, because he's cute.

If I send a (You) your way, will you finally stop trying to elicit a reaction? It's getting embarrassing user.

I'm surprised MiA got so popular with half the jokes being about childrens' genitalia.

It's a film set in London, what else did you expect?

>A very old premise about a hobo animal living with a family is an immigration propaganda now
What else new

The fact that he's from Peru is hammered in 17 times in the movie.

Keep believing that

Go figure. He wants an ANIMATED movie to be nominated for the award for ANIMATED movies. What a fucking faggot.

I love Boss Baby!
