Is this a UK thing?

In the US we normally operate on semester basis for college. With there being Fall, Spring, and then a condensed Summer semester that is optional (usually when you need to take a class to catchup or want to get ahead).

Not from UK or US.
We have two semesters. First one from October till mid January, followed by a two-week long session of exams. And another one from February till the end of June, when there's another session of exams.

Ah, just a bit staggered from what its like in the US (Aug-Dec, then Jan-April)

Following this up, failing an exam isnt the worst. I've failed a couple engineering classes. Just keep at it.

Do what I did after 2 years of uni, switch to a trade, like welding or electrical. Its piss easy compared to college classes.
