No, the movie wasn't meant to appeal to Trump voters.

Not really. They're all assholes in this movie.

>Was i supposed to like this character?
Probably, but she was so unlikable I got bored half way through. Movie sucked once the Sheriff killed himself.

It's like the movie goes out of its way to make her irredeemable, so I guess no.

The only likeable person in the movie was the guy who's supposed to be the bad guy who she calls out on the billboards.

He's not "suppose" to be the bad guy. Just an incompetent Police Chief.

William Dafoe looks pretty good there

Good movie with plenty of flaws but the scene where Dixon busts into the advertising office was pure kino

Yes. I'd say not even incompetent either. He just didn't have enough evidence to solve the case.

just finished half an hour ago. that scene was damn near perfect. actually surprised I enjoyed this more than the shape of water.

>Just an incompetent Police Chief.
1/3rd of homicides don't result in convictions. The only incompetent thing he did is have shitty deputies but it's not like he gets much of a choice.

face to the side, her ass is pretty rockin'. before I finished watching, I was wishing I could put this hard thing between her legs.

daughter was cute but I can't be fuckin' around with a nirvana fan.

He gave up really easy on the investigation. Not to mention Dixon's racial police brutality before the events of the movie shows that he has poor leadership skills. Also his main reason to commit suicide was so that he can have the last laugh on the billboard scandal. It's pretty much a dick move of him since that was more important to him than spending more time with his family.

>didn't understand anything that was happening in the movie the post

His death letter inspired Dixon on being more mindful of his behaviour, he could have taught him about that when he was still alive.

>so that he can have the last laugh on the billboard scandal

nigger did you even watch the movie? he did it so his wifes last memories of him wouldn't be him all sick and miserable, he even paid for a month of the billboards. not to mention the fact that they tested the dna of everyone they could

What did I not understand?

JFC sometimes I wonder why I even come to this shithole.

There's no evidence that he gave up on the investigation easily, there's no evidence that the police brutality happened and he explicitly explained that he killed himself because he didn't want his family to see him and remember him as someone slowly dying from cancer. He even explains in the letter that the billboards had nothing to do with him killing himself.

Yes he was too proud to be looked down upon than to spend more time with his family. He paid for a month extra on the billboard so his suicide can be blamed on Mildred, dumbass. The point is, everyone ain't too clean about the whole mess that's the point.

holy fuck you're dumb

Perhaps at first but the point is how unlikable she becomes. Even those who love her unconditionally (like her son) start to dislike her by the end.

Nice counter-argument. You can't put two and two together if it fucking head you in the head. He knows the billboards caused a lot of trouble to Mildred and her family so he paid extra so that everyone thinks that Mildred was just a selfish and respectless bitch for letting the Billboards stay there despite after his suicide.

He literally talked about how he wanted to spend more time with his family and it was a hard decision to off himself now instead of waiting.

Yes and he still stick with the suicide plan. Every character has there sympathetic sides and unsympathetic sides. It ain't in black white. Dixon was racist because he had a racist ubringing from his mother and the mother is not entirely evil too, she really loved her son when she saw how injured he was. There is humanity in every key character in this movie.

you are the dumbest

You're just assuming he was lying on his fucking suicide letter.

Why don't you just watch your capeshit and let the adults talk, okay?

>mfw some dumbass on Sup Forums is too stupid for this easy to understand film
not even gonna (you) this retard. they literally spell it out why he killed himself, why he paid for the billboard, and the reason they were struggling to catch the guy.

what type of shit for brains has to headcanon his own facts? literally kys, my dude.

...

I remember he downright wrote his intentions about the billboards so Mildred will be in trouble for it. He's right about the letter to his wife too, the whole billboard business hurt his pride too much and he can't bare to be looked as a weak man because of Mildred's spiteful actions. So the suicide plan was his checkmate by wining some face and put down Mildred for attacking his image.

now you're just blatantly shitposting

Spoken like a true Trumpet.

...

the advertising guy was likeable

Is that your reaction face there, pal? You can't comprehend what I wrote there?

He was [s] cute [/s]

>guy threatens Frances McDormand at her job
>couldn't be more of an obvious red herring for who the killer/rapist was unless he had a neon sign over his head
>guy is ultimately revealed to be unrelated to crime
>as a matter of fact, he's not even from the area. He's not even from the same state. He wasn't even in the United States in the timeframe the crime happened.

So, why did this random passerthrough guy care enough about Sheriff Woody Harrelson enough to harass Frances in a way that he had to feel personally slighted by her? It felt like they wrote themselves into a corner there.

...

no he wasn't. and the official /ourguy/ was midget man, after telling her off in the restaurant.

I need to rewatch the cop scene again because the new chief seemed vague about revealing information on that guy. perhaps he was trying to tell us something, but I totally didn't catch his meaning.

Probably because he's a psycho that did something similiar and he enjoyed bringing pain to Mildred.
I've taken that as a yes.
