What films would you rec based on this photo? Maybe something like Paris Texas or Children of the corn, whether its horror or drama or whatever.

Twister

Days of Heaven?

Not a particularly great film but you're pretty spot on so thanks anyway

some shitty horror b-movie

Ah yeah solid rec, I haven't watched it in ages and it does fit pretty well

...

Gladiator

Gladiator is an easy one

Gilbert Grape

All About Lily Chou Chou?

Interstellar

Good rec, Only watched it a little while ago so I probably won't give it another watch for a while

Ehh I was kinda looking for something more set in rural states but thanks anyway

I get you. Gladiator is a good rec just because the wheat field is the end goal/the dream/heaven, but yeah

Perfect World

No Country for Old Men perhaps?

...

Eh I can see where you're coming from, but besides the few scenes like in the picture, it dosent really connect with it that much
Ohh solid rec, never actually heard of it before
Pretty solid rec, trying to find something I haven't seen before though, but still, solid rec
Cheers, I'll add it to the watchlist

Alien Covenant

Red Sorghum (1987 or the 2013 remake)

...

Gladiator

What about this pic

Already said

Literally Assassination of Jesse James again. That film had gorgeous sky shots all throughout.

Gladiator

Signs

Already seen it

The Mirror

Once upon a time in Anatolia

The Straight Story.

How am I supposed to know what you have or have not seen?

>The Mirror
Is it any good?

You aren't, but I'm just letting you know for future reference.

Op here, not the user that told you that he'd already seen it, but I did say myself earlier that I had seen it more recently and probably wouldent watch it again for atleast a little while, good rec regardless though

first thing i thought of as well

Have you seen and enjoyed any other Tarkovsky films?

Yes, Stalker

tom at the farm

Then you'll probably enjoy Mirror, for dmost people their favourite Tarkovsky film is either Mirror, Stalker or Andrei Rublev so it's one of his best if not his best. It's alot more human and personal imo, it's also a decent bit more abstract than his other work - I've watched it twice now and it seems to grow on me with more viewings

Ah now this is a solid rec, thanks user

Is this a good rec?

Dis

It's a fairly sub par film and I'm not really sure how it relates to the photo I posted in anyway

take shelter

I thought it was a pretty solid rec, for one.

nah sorry mate imo it's pretty far from a good rec ad defiantly far from a SOLID rec

Yes this looks great, added to the watchlist, thanks

How about this rec?

even worse than the first rec, and even farther from a SOLID rec

>inb4 he posts rec 3, then rec 4

Io non ho paura/I'm not scared

nah 3 and 4 sucked

I was gonna say this but just make sure you stick to the scenes on Earth

I definitely *wouldn't* recommend Paris, Texas based on that photo.
A Field In England, maybe, even though it's B&W.

Dunkirk

First post best post

Well I've seen both Paris Texas and A Field in England, enjoyed both highly, but I would say Paris Texas is nearer to the photo considering it's american primitive soundtrack, its often scenes of rural america (yeah sure not specifically cornfields but near enough). Whilst A Field in England is black and white like you said, has no connection to rural america and only has its setting of a field as a connection. Thanks for the recommendation, and I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just outlining my thought process

There is nothing about the photo indicating it's America.
Also, the mood, colors, everything is totally different from Paris, Texas visually, which is why I wouldn't make any connection.

See this is why the entirety of this is subjective, there's nothing about that photo that would suggest its England or anywhere really. That photo makes me think of a selection of albums which happen to be very rooted in rural Americana, rural american is also a huge element of Paris Texas for me. I put the dots together and wallah I now associate them together.

And anyway it was literally just a example I typed up quickly at the start, the focus was what others may put

Adams Æbler

>there's nothing about that photo that would suggest its England or anywhere really
I agree. You're only thinking of America because you're American.
I didn't think it looks like England, I suggested the movie because it has a dark mood, which, I imagine, might resemble the image somewhat, were it not B&W.

I loved Stalker but couldn't get through The Sacrifice. Should I try Mirror or Nostalgia?
