Looking to get into comics starting with Batman, then I want to check out the other Justice League heroes. What are Sup Forums's must-reads for Batman?

So far I only read "I am Gotham". Kinda meh

read I am Suicide, after that it picks up.

But you want to go for the classics:
Year one
Long Halloween
The dark knight returns
The killing joke

Usual picks are
>Knightfall
>Hush
>Year One
>The Dark Knight Returns
You know, stuff written by Frank Miller or Morrison.

Thanks, senpaitachi

Check out Court of Owls or The Cult.

Green Lantern: Start with Green Lantern: Secret Origin

Flash just start with New52

Aquaman start with the Trench and work up

>Long Halloween
Shit.
>Hush
Shit.

For Flash just read all of Vol 2 until Johns leaves.

>Flash just start with New52
Kill yourself.

Once you've read entry level Batshit, read Denny O'Niel and Alan Grant's Batman.
>recommending anything but Infantino
Shit taste retard.

>Infantino
You mean big head Barry? lmao

You've never actually read it but that stuff is to Flash what Ditko/Lee is to Spider-Man.

This guy gets it. I'm currently own all these as graphic novels but I'm now collecting the individual issues. Currently have all of Long Halloween, Year One, The Killing Joke, and am working on Dark Knight Returns. Also I'd recommend A Death in the Family

>read I am Suicide
Don't listen to this man of lies

If it's so good why couldn't you be bothered to name the writer, John Broome? Checkmate, autist.

Infantino is the main attraction here, same as Ditko on Spidey, you continue being a casual fuck though.

Year One
The Long Halloween
Dark Victory
The Killing Joke
The Dark Knight Returns

so cool and contrarian, user

>You know, stuff written by Frank Miller or Morrison.
None of what you recommended is by Morrison.

This is a pretty in-depth reading list of good Bat shit in "chronological" order if you want to call it that. Obviously it's all a matter of taste, but most of this is much better than what we're getting from Rebirth

Holy shit this is a lot. Where do you guys buy all of them or download them?

I buy what I can from my local shop and the rest online. That's the fun of collecting dude. If you put that list together you've got an extremely impressive start to a Batman collection

readcomiconline.to/

You don't need to read all of that, obviously, but Batman has been in the top 3 most popular characters for like 60 years, so he's had a shit ton of stories. Just read a few and see if you like them.

The ones that the other anons have listed: Year One, TDKR, TKJ, TLH are usually listed as "the best of the best" but I'd say anything on that list is solidly worth your time.

Thanks, friends. I need to check and see if there is a comic store near me.

>hating Hush
>contrarian
(You)

Different user, but I think hating TLH is fairly contrarian. I see a lot of people say "it's not a REAL mystery, so the whole thing is shit"

>You've never actually read it but that stuff is to Flash what Ditko/Lee is to Spider-Man.

SO much this. I would so much prefer that any Flash movie pick ideas from Gardner Fox than having more shitting Johns canon shoved down our throats in live action or animation adaptions.

>starting with Batman

Don't bother. Save yourself from the batwank and batfags with horrible taste, especially all their badgod recommendations

...

The two face we deserve

Don't read the current books. They're shit. You're better off starting with the old ones.

Nah, we need someone who looks like a purple play doh monster

>i'm looking to get into batman
>you should start with worst batman comic
fpwp

My list of personal favs:
Long Halloween
Black Mirror
Hush
Noel
No Man's Land
Court of Owls
I both hate and love Morrison's run

Why do people recommend comics like The Cult and Hush?

As well as being bad Batman comics, they're just poor comics in general.

Hush is insanely overrated, but what's your problem with the cult?

Maximum pleb

>Hush
>Knightfall
>written by Miller or Morrison

kill yourself

If someone doesn't like TLH they don't like Batman. It's really as simple as that.

Well, I'm guessing we found a Court of Owls fan.

Not that user, but have you read it lately? It's trash. Arguably well-drawn trash, but trash nonetheless.

It demonizes the homeless, who're somehow able to assassinate several key figures by SNIPING THEM FROM STORM DRAINS, (because as every sniper knows, you want to be as low to the ground and with as limited a range as physically possible), the idea that the government would respond by just abandoning Gotham City is retarded, Batman spends most of the story drugged out of his mind and killing people with SMGs at the bad guys' behest, then goes through the obligatory pity party "MAYBE I'M NOT BAT ENOUGH TO SOLVE THIS, AND MAYBE I NEVER WAS" lowest point, before deciding "THE FIRE OF BATTLE" will make him totally stoked again, so he and Robin shot all the homeless people with hypodermics from a monster truck, except the ones that Batman turned again Deacon Blackfire, who then ATE HIM because as we all know, homeless people are like zombies, a cannibalistic horde of mindless hunger, right?

Fuck The Cult, and fuck Jim Starlin, It's like a bad exploitation movie.

>It demonizes the homeless, who're somehow able to assassinate several key figures by SNIPING THEM FROM STORM DRAINS
There were a number of reasons why they were shooting from the drains, not least of which was that they controlled the sewers

>Batman spends most of the story drugged out of his mind and killing people with SMGs at the bad guys' behest
He kills one guy, and it majorly fucks with him for obvious reasons

>so he and Robin shot all the homeless people with hypodermics from a monster truck
The monster truck was kind of dumb, but tranq darts are pretty standard "non lethal bullets" in comics

>except the ones that Batman turned again Deacon Blackfire, who then ATE HIM
They brutally murder him, but they definitely don't eat him
