We are talking about one of the greatest films of all time here, op
It's better when the dramatic lead itself is comic relief

So you would say that Kikuchiyo is the exception that proves the rule?
God fucking damn that’s a gorgeous fucking shot. How have I never seen this one screencapped before? Is every single frame of this movie poster worthy? Jesus.
he was annoying
Costumes, the casting, the sets... its a pretty incredible movie no doubt.
Composition is tight as heck
Does the rule say the character must display his ass?
So flabby
How does he draw that giant meme sword?
Based Kyuzo ready for death.
brap
i swear the both look like they're cracking up
that guy smilin' like
"oh yeah, baby"
Yes that was also the point.
You throw the sheath off like a javelin. In fact it is itself a weapon idk lol.
What did Sling Blade do that was comedic relief to the story?
You don't draw out a nodachi like that in the middle of a battle. It's only kept in the scabbard for transportation or storage.
“Finally it dawned on them that six sober samurai were a bore–they needed a character that was more off-the-wall. So that’s how Kikuchiyo was born. 'Let’s give it to Mifune,' they agreed, 'and see what he does with it.' So I had complete freedom to do whatever I felt like.
Isao Kimura (Katsushiro) wisecracked that I had a part I could play even when I was hungover. 'You're the one with all the luck,' I thought, 'when you've got the role that'll get all the girls."- Toshiro Mifune while discussing the role.
Fun Fact: he used a live blade on set. As in an actual sharp ass sword. Said it forced him to master each movement .
Imagine if Mifune had a lance stewart type accident.

Pretty sure he even chops wood with it, but it’s been years since the last time I saw it.
Funfact: Kikuchiyo's sword was illegal because of the Edo period laws banning baby seaking assault swords.

>bringing a gun to a swordfight
who the fuck was the guy with the gun?
He's pretty hot.
Naw bro everyone just pretends to like it for 60 years. It's shit.
I believe thats Tatsuya Nakadai, legendary Japanese actor.
He's still alive.

Is he serious?

lol
nobody ever said that, you fucking simpleton
good job watching seven samurai for the first time though, want a cookie?
Pic relate had comedic relief that at least did not suck, probably because he wasn't "comedic" 100% of his screen time.
>AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH
>HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>EHEHEHEHEH
Is this the legendary dialogue of Kurosawa?
AK was based as fuck.
...
...
Someone post the Sanjuro webm.
Kurosawa is famous for making people do 50 takes of a two minute scene for 6 hours, not for his dialogue.
Imagine how much better Seven Samurai could have been if it had been shot widescreen
Holy shit he's 84 here? thanks btw.
Is he full Japanese, half, or 1/4 European? I'm not trying to be rude anything just asking. I know Asians can all vary in their looks too.
I haven't gotten around to watching Seven Samurai(I started watching it once but never got around to it) but besides that, which movies would you recommend from Kurosawa in order from best to least?
Imagine how good it would have been with diversity
tom cruise as kikuchiyo when
This movie took me like 3 days to watch. But holy shit did I love it. Weirdly enough, I did the same with LoA and did not like it as much. I saw both of these when I was like 16 almost 9 years ago. I should try re-watching them both.
Fucking weebs
>This movie took me like 3 days to watch

Did you watch the movie? Also, Bateman is about 40x worse in the book. The movie went really light on his character.
Talked like a retard
Cool motherfucker.
it's interesting that they all died due to gunfire
One of the coolest ever. Fucking cancer
