It remains to be seen if WW2 will keep Diana's character growth consistent. The whole point of WW was Diana learning that she can't just kill the bad guys and make the problem go away.
MoS was inconsistent with it's character growth. Superman is angsty, he trashes a lumberjacks truck. Superman is righteous, he won't kill the bad guy. Oh, unless he has to to save a family. Except did he really have to, could he not have just flown Zod into space or used his super strength to prevent him from turning his head, or tried to cover his eyes?

Why do y'all act like Zod dying is such a tragedy when he was hours away from killing everyone on the planet?
I get that it was a symbolic thing. Superman kill Zod or Zod will kill innocents. It just felt inconsistent to me that after a whole fucking city got destroyed and the world was soon to follow, it took Superman looking at a cowering family to decide to compromise his values.
I don't mind them making Superman kill, I think it would have made for better character growth over the next movies. I do mind that he clung to his morals for so long before doing it.
It kind of feels one major mistake DC is making is forcing all their films to be fairly straight action movies.
A lot of what i think helped marvel was their willingness to visit other genres, like heist movie, war movie thriller, etc.
If they do set WW2 in the cold war (strange sentence there), it gives DC a good chance to do a genre tweak and go for say, a spy thriller under a super hero guise.

Those are the only two examples you can name, because every other MCU film was the same type of straight action/comedy.
It was the straw that broke the camels back, I know. I just think for this instance, it sucked. The straw felt like it was thrown on top of a camel that SHOULD have already collapsed given the previous character development.

What about the part of the story where Chris Pine supposedly returns? That part makes it less plausible to me. Still, if he does come back, who is he? Probably a descendant of Steve Trevor I'm guessing (like on the show with its time-jump), though there's always the Hal Jordan option. Just have a line of dialogue where Diana mentions he really looks like someone she used to know.
