It was an insufferable slog. It felt like none of the actors wanted to be in the movie. Jared Leto and Margot Robbie were good (if underused), maybe also Karen Fukuhara, but every other character in the movie was total garbage.

Movies shouldn't feel like a chore or like homework.

i actually loved the art direction and costume design in this film, and typically i enjoy Ayer's work.

One thing is certain, DC knows how to make movies that people talk about long after relelase, even if its negetive. People talk about marvel movies for 2 weeks and then forget about it

Why make a "the world is ending" situation?
Why not send the Suicide Squad to go on a moderate mission against a hero or an antagonist like the Scarecrow?

well duh, they have the rights to world beloved iconic super heroes. they have decades worth of story lies to pick from. yet they can't put out a new well done movie? the entire job is to utilize them. if they fail that then they completely failed. any story can be interesting if done well enough.

the script was a jumbled mess.
they called SS into a mission for a terrorist threat but there was none it was the witch, but she didn't get free until they called her in to solve the threat, then used the situation to get free. which is why the bomb was still there with the team, but then what was the terrorist attack originally? oh it was always her, but then why did they send her? when did she get free? at night when she got her brother, but that was after she was used to stop a threat. so which came first?

ignoring that, it's clear that the witch is using The Wall's brain to target military bases and to make an army like she always wanted, the witch also sounds like a distorted version of waller's voice. the military general points out there's no way the witch knows about the ships and bases location being attacked, only waller knew them. but waller doesn't get blamed for any of it, the SS never figure that part out. she comes out unscathed and gi joe still works for her, instead of realizing her treason/ even though he figures out it was double treason and she set him up for failure and to fuck the witch. so none of this is ever addressed and even batman doesn't figure it out so why include it if it's never addressed in any way? they did it so in passing and choppy that most audiences didn't notice this and didn't connect her to be the witch's evil plan was waller.

I heard they cut most of Joker's scenes. So it's like Jared Leto stayed in character, and terrorized the whole cast, for nothing.

Honestly, no, I'm not being biased here this movie was pretty bad, people said that the studio meddling ruined the movie, maybe, but after watching Bright, I can see where this one failed, the director isn't very good.
A very big part of suicide squad was an Escape from New York rip off, and not a very good one, visually it was disappointing, for a movie about villains it tried to make them too sympathetic, but these are just dumb complaints from my part, my point is, in the hands of a better director it could have been good movie.

he said he filmed about 40 minutes worth of material (which i'm guessing was the originally agreed amount of screen time he'd get, he probably actually filmed several hours worth) and it was cut down to about 7 minutes.

It had very real technical flaws, but the core components were pretty solid. All the problems with it were due to the editing; it desperately needed a director's cut.

the characters are introduced twice because the director's original cut of the movie started when they were airlifted into the city. It was supposed to be structured like Deadpool, where the background of the characters was told through flashbacks

It had no excuse to be so bad when they lifted scenes from the animation.

they could have gone about 4 different ways than what they did go with.

SS: prison break arkham
SS vs joker
SS take down a super hero (green arrow or batman or something)
SS vs a superman level villain(black adam)

This is the only one that wouldn't work. It would have to be Wonder Woman level because Superman is too high tier. I suppose that's kind of what happened, but it should have been the main plot instead of a "twist."

well that's what waller was selling the squad as a anti superman task force. clearly they wouldn't last a second against an evil superman but that was their whole creation.

if i did the black adam thing, i'd set it up as evil terrorist fundamentalist want to awaken the long slumbering black adam. so they fly out SS to some middle eastern country where they have to kill their way through a bunch of terrorist nameless goons. maybe some have magic powers, no biggie. they awaken black adam he's pissed but not yet at full power he fights them off confused and angry. they mange to fuck him up long enough to cause a huge explosion where he's disappeared. they chock it as a win, back to prison. black adam doesn't die and goes looking for the wizard shazam!.

idk i think it's better than what we got, it's straight forward and there would be lots of violence and adventure. if you do a thing where >half way through they find out that his vessel has been transported to america and it's hatching so they have to fly back for the final fight.
then you get to have a secondary costume, so in middle east they get a dessert/ military get up/ version of their costume and in american city they get their full super villain costumes. the explosion could be black adams lightning powers going off. when he wakes up you can have him as human with no powers. like billy/cap marvel. which explains why they think he's dead.

plus you get the easy lead to a shazam movie.

I can agree that the oscar they got was a deserved one.
