DAVID SPEEEEEEEEEEEEES
GOAT soundtrack
why was japan so good at scoring cyberpunk anime movies
because they already live in a corporate dystopian hellscape
also because they use traditional japanese music instead of generic synths
>KALIMA
Mah thuggee
Not just cyberpunk.
isnt' that the Akira soundtrack? fuckin a op/
Ghost in the shell, first movie
Kek, exactly what i was thinking
The Japanese are better than modern Hollywood at scoring anything.

Love these kinds of mood pieces. Can't think of many movies that have them though (Patlabor, Ghost in the Shell, Evangelion).
It's interesting that in both Akira and GitS they used organic sounds, choirs and analog instruments, not electronic sounds, even though the stories take place in the future and electronic was the obvious answer (and in fashion). I guess they started from the themes of the stories, not their superficial settings.
Yeah, those scenes are a trademark of Mamoru Oshii.
Well, maybe its deliberate, and try to make a contrast, the music incarnating the soul, as image portreys the described synthetic and cold setting
this was like the first and the best music show on my countrie's national tv
this intro blew my mind

i only found out later it was from a fucking taiwanese cartoon
The name is Kawai Kenji 川井憲次
Not even himself can surpass his works in 90s. The midi keyboards stuff. I mean sure the East European orchestra and choir are cool. But they are costly and too intense.
His simpler works were short, fast, and simple. It worked with simple animation.
why did anime become so shitty? where is this decades GITS or akira?
I probably like his melodic songs more than the brooding Oshii type of stuff he's best known for.

>why did anime become so shitty?
It didn't.
>It didn't.
ok, recommend me anime movies from the 2010s
Matsurani Suguru. Inscrutable Battle. Op of "BEFORE AND AFTER"

It's not Oshii. not anime. not movie. Not cyberpunk. It's just a reality tv show.
Your Name, In This Corner of the World, Redline, Miss Hokusai, Genocidal Organ, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, The Wind Rises, Girls und Panzer ... I watch relatively few movies though, or more like have been too busy with shows.
Because moeshit sells
Assuming you mean SoL anime, it doesn't just magically sell. Nobody buys an anime just because it's SoL. That's why not all SoL anime sell, let alone exceptionally well. There's also usually only a couple of them every season. And SoL anime isn't bad, it's just another genre.
The wind rises is bad though

The sequel is planned in 1992 supposed to be out this year.
I could name any movie and someone would say it's bad.
Oh, I thought Magnetic Rose was getting a sequel. Honey mayonnaise is good too though. I just don't know what to think, I don't like the state of modern anime very much. The best anime after 2010 I've seen was pic related which is pretty misunderstood by general anime audiences.
Kawai Kenji also did Ip Man
After china got rich they became able to afford big name Japanese composers like Kawai and Hisashi
...the success is very limited if you ask me...people watched Ip Man but no one reported goosebumps related to the music.
Somehow i want to imagine Berserk in this style... a man can dream.
The intro song is actually a traditional wedding song. It's symbolism about the marriage of man and machine.
Nightstalker, one of the best songs on the OST, is Synth and Acoustic Guitar
This film come second to nothing.
I am glad someone made such piece of beauty. Definitely a 10/10
Not really memorable if you ask me
tastless pleb detected. i bet Mononoke is your favorite Ghibli
genocyber ost is fucking incredible
K I N O

From 4:02 really hits me.
Not him, but you really need to neck yourself immediately, brainlet.
...
...
Why does this remind me of a city after a terrorist attack?
Because that's basically what it is?
I wanted to hint this was `93 and its still up-to-date. Especially after 9/11
is the second one worth it?
yes
Not as good as the first but I still love it
