Unsounded

What should Jivi do?

>tfw my ma3 do better than my unsounded ones

Damn, it's like I went back in time three years pitiful self bump

SO what's with the scheduling? Is She going to a M-F schedule now, or is it just a temporary thing

Monday/Friday updates until I think September.

Kickstarter stuff has her swamped with work and the alternative is to just go on hiatus until then.

It's a temporary thing.

It's M and F until the chapter is finished, then she's doing a hiatus to fix the health of her posting buffer (and, also, probably for her own mental sanity).

Sette and Jivi have some things in common

She's done a lot of kickstarters lately and those have rewards she has to honor, it takes extra work. Alternative was a mid-chapter hiatus and she's not willing to do that, so dialing back weekly updates to make her page buffer last longer is the best compromise.

Someone save me

It's almost as though the author is comparing & contrasting their different reactions to similar life experiences!

Man, I wasn't really too stoked about Jivi when he first popped up, but he's been getting some nice stuff recently that helps put his previous actions into a good context. Probably my favorite kid character of the three right now, but Sette will probably compete for that whenever her next big moment is.

I am SUPER curious to learn what's happened to Knock and Anadyne. I have been ever since Ashley confirmed they were alive. Some of that curiosity has been driven by these threads and some of the speculation that went on, admittedly.

I always considered Anadyne a basic bitch but I never considered that she's actually REALLY hot. And still basic.

Anders has always been great. He had me sold on him way back when he throatfucked F7.

He's always been the hero type in story, and I liked his motivational battle cry, but there character never really clicked for me until recently like other characters have. Possibly because it felt a bit like he lacked some of the depth they had. It just took a bit for it to be his turn.

Fair enough. Before this he had like one page of backstory, right? And all the other main characters had extended flashbacks.

It's not even necessarily about the flashbacks or explicit backstory, though they're a typical way to fleshout a character by providing immediate examples of them in other circumstances and situations without having to actually get the story over there. But more about what was going on in his head. Consider Toma. We haven't really gotten a flashback for him yet, aside from other characters quickly summarizing his rise to fame. He's also the hero type, but more confident and experienced than Jivi. We know his circumstances, but he himself is lacking an explicit outline like we've gotten for others.

This page, though, provided a different sort of angle on his now reckless seeming daring do. Toma's cast adrift, cut off from a stable home life that up until now has been a big motivating factor to him. His laughing in the face of danger seems a bit more tragic in the context of him possibly burning his life away to avoid having to deal with the fact that his wife is a terrible bitch and he may never get to properly be a father to his daughter again. Not to mention his country's mired in some terrible shit. Toma fights for Cresce and everything it represents and it's tossed him out on his ass.

The flashbacks, and narration, help give Jivi that same context. We've got his domineering mother, who's about as bad as the more typical "be a man, son" father type. But now we have his dissatisfaction for how his pirate origins color his ability to move in the world, despite his efforts to be an honest man. His hero worship and desire to be a hero, like Toma, also take on a deeper implication because of all that, as does his lack of confidence and direction early on. These don't make Toma and Jivi less genuinely heroic, but they help to make them more interesting to read and their actions more meaningful.

Thanks for writing this. It's nice to see deeper analyses of characters and how they're written. Appreciated!

I never got why people in the comic act like Elka is unattractive. Maybe it's some Crescian beauty standard thing. Man I hope she lived.

Maybe it's just her personality.

She has a certain attraction to her, yes. Incidentally, you can really tell Cope's preferences. When it comes to hetero stuff, it's all soft core nudity, petting, or loving embraces. When it's homo time, it's right to the domination and tortuous buttfuckery.

dat everything

Classic fujo preferences. Gay relationships allow them to express their own heterosexual desires for rough sex and being dominated in a way that keeps their own moral sensibilities and sense of self from being impacted.

You think drawing a dingus or two means she doesn't holds certain self-preserving attitudes towards her own sexual inhibitions? You don't quite get women.

I think it was more a reaction image than a counterexample.

Sadism and Mascochism fit neatly into many concepts of sin and punishment, though. Of the necessity a social creature such as Man has when internal conflict arises. Partially feeling one thing and partially feeling another, torn by obligations of self and community. If we're just going with reptile brain desires, it seems odd, but the anatomically modern human has a desire for sense and fairness, especially in their relationships to others. It's how we got to where we are today. It'd be silly not to call it natural. Many natural processes sit on the razors edge of necessity and self destruction. We desire food that kills us if we eat it too much, need medicines that can fuck us over if used improperly. The satisfaction of pain relieving guilt, of having answered for some perceived crime is an extreme example, but not an illogical one. Within the logical framework of how a human brain tries to make sense of itself, its desires, and the world, of course.

Oh and the body's natural endorphin factories activating to deal with pain. That probably matters too.

Jivi is my legit fave.

That makes sense. All of it.

Thank you.
