Simple,
The story is cute and charming, full of life and ambition. After watching all 13 episodes I've concluded that this show does a splendid job of expressing the hero to heart. Now there's no reason to keep the cat in the bag so let's go ahead and release it, today trans people could resonate really well with this hero and their struggle of an ongoing identity crisis. Shezow is a true art and it's a shame no one remembers it.

Did we watch the same show? Shezow was fucking shit. All jokes are terrible puns. The characters are shallow vessels pretty much purely existing for the shitty plot of the weak. The whole gender-bending aspect is almost treated like an elephant in the room, nothing unique or interesting is explored with the concept.

I watched this with very high hopes and was severely disappointed. And seriously, how do you create a boring show with the premise of a TEENAGE GENDERBENDER SUPERHERO? Interesting plotlines write themselves, assuming you're not a braindead idiot who can't think further than the next pun.

I really liked the time travel episode.

Shezow is a good example of FTM trans. Someone with the mind of a male who, through circumstance, has the outward appearance of a girl.

No I am inclined to state that we haven't watched the same show, because the Shezow I watched was amazing. How can such a spectacular show be stated as boring or lame? The show was legit good and it's a shaaaaaame people are slandering it like this. Each episode I was glued to the screen exploding with edge, I recommend giving it another watch so you can properly appreciate such art this time.

Not him, but the basic to do a good gender bender show (Ranma was the closest one to it), is to focus on everything else and make it good to be in with, THEM you add the gender bending just as a flavour.

Besides Shezow fully turning female while in the super form what else did you want from the show? What would you have done differently?

For SheZow or in general? Because I've had this general idea of a teenage boy who finds out that he is actually a magical member of a royal family from another dimension. He was born with magical powers which could destroy a dark sorcerer, so the sorcerer sent his minions to kill him as a baby. His parents, the king and queen, sent him away with their most trusted advisors into another dimension to hide until his powers matured and he could come back and destroy the sorcerer. Now its his (13th? 16th? Some important birthday) and his powers begin to activate and a mysterious stranger shows up at his house and tells him the story. The boy is excited at first. The stranger is as well. The kingdom is eager to have its princess back.

Oh wait, that's right. The baby was a girl and was hidden as a boy as an extra precaution. The boy does not like that.

So something something he has to live as a girl now and sometimes go to the other dimension to deal with wizards and warriors shit and sometimes the wizards and warriors shit comes to find him. His old friends react to him weirdly, leading to drama and comedy, one friend might even get clued in. He doesn't really like his "real" parents because they basically took his life away from him. I even have this conversation between the dark sorcerer and the boy in my head where the sorcerer is all like, "Sure, I'm trying to kill you, but I've never lied to you. I've been completely upfront with you. But your parents? The 'good guys?' Look at what they did to you? If you really step back and look at it...who would you say the bad guys are?"

Probably would turn out crap. I dunno. Writing is hard.

Could be either situation really, but I think the story possibilities would be better if he were a girl permanently from that point forward. Like, he works out a deal, he turns back into a girl, but he gets to keep living with his adoptive parents on Earth and only occasionally has to go back to the other world. That way we can get slice of life, sword and sorcery and awkward teenage dating, whatever the plot demands.

A goddess picks 7 musicians to be magical girls, but one of them is "saved" from the giant flaming bolt of magic by a passing guy who throws himself in front of it.
