Is that the right order? So he'll leave the burninng building under arrest, do some thriller stuff, and come back and the building will still be on fire and he'll go in to save his family?
Also probably a bad idea to namedrop The Towering Inferno which is a truly amazing film which I really doubt could be beaten.
He's not on the building when it goes up in flames.

It's easily the most 70s movie I've ever seen, and also the best 70s movie I've ever seen. For the exception they probably just couldn't think of a way to succinctly put "the other builder who is the evil son-in-law of the main builder".
