What are your thoughts on Mabel?

What are your thoughts on Mabel?

I like her. First loli I commissioned porn of.

Thread's off to a good start

She's quite possibly the most realistically written female character I've ever seen.

She's an adorable bundle of joy

Is there literally anyone who actually likes her? All I see online is hate.

Her extroverted dorkiness is cute but Hirsch fucked up big time by getting lazy and copy-pasting Dipper busting his balls for her in way too many episodes. Once is just Dipper realizing the value of his bond with his sister. Four or five times out of just the first season creates a pattern and makes her look like a selfish mooch.

Have you left Sup Forums recently?

>Pay attention Mabel, this is super important.
>Bla bla bla, you're BORING, Dipper
>But Mabel, this could destroy the world! Please pay attention
>Wakka wakka whatever, come on and let me force you to do things I want to do

>Hey Mabel, give me that glowing thing that is of no importance
>I kinda remember Dipper saying something about this....
>No he didn't. Dipper's dumb. Now give me the MacGuffin and I'll give you what you whatever you want
>I want the entire universe to revolve around me and not just Dipper's life
>You got it. Now off to destroy the world
>Whatever, I got what I wanted

>Wow we just managed to undo Mabel's mistake
>What mistake? Haha wee waaa *fart noises* Now do what I say
>That's our Mabel!

Well, we know Mabel isn't the biggest bitch in THIS thread.

I said online, not just Sup Forums. Learn to read, user.

>Hey, look at me, I'm that annoying user who spouts Sup Forums memes about what happened in a show instead of what actually happened!

She shares the same opinions I have about fingerless gloves, so shes cool.

She's annoying, worst part of a already mediocre show.

She was super fun and likable until Hirsch ruined her. At the same time I think Sup Forums's hateboner for her is them projecting their own problems with women in their life.

A lot of anons seem to wish she reciprocated Dipper's thoughtfulness more, to put it mildly. I guess I kind of agree in some ways, but at the end of the day I'm glad we got a show with a couple of adorable sibs that break the convention of being at each other's throats a lot of the time and are genuinely best buds.

And I know a lot of people are sick of Schall's voice, but I can't imagine any other voice for her.

She seems easy to get to fuck.

I've met very few people outside of Sup Forums who don't adore her

Dipdops is tiptops.

I liked Mabel at first, and I appreciate how she was a victim to slapstick a lot during the first season. I feel like if they had done 3 seasons, they would've handled it fine.

Will Gravity Falls threads come back once the official comics start being released?

Never Forget

Superior star girl.

My problem with Mabel is she's a character type I hate. I can't stand hyperactive characters, so I never enjoyed her, and when she fucked everything up in the end I hated her more.

>Gravity Falls
>mediocre show
It's the best fucking cartoon in existence, dipshit.

Go back to bed, Alex.

It's mediocre

Your mom was mediocre.

I'm hoping those are storytimed. And that we get more of Dipper in his socks or bare feet.

That's being pretty generous.

Why?

Because of all the numerous cartoons I've seen, it was the one I enjoyed the most. Only Avatar even comes close, as a matter of fact.

Why do you like it so much?

She's bad news.

I don't feel like writing up a full response right now, but suffice it to say the main reason is that it doesn't have a single bad episode. That's more than I can say for literally any other cartoon I've watched.

>a single bad episode.

How about Escape from Reality?

It's great, and even necessary considering the context. (And Mabel's admission that she was acting crazy at the end, along with her telling Dipper she wouldn't hold him back, addressed the issues Sup Forums keeps bringing up, in my view.)

I love the show too. I felt there was a golden-age Simpsons influence--a lot of episodes had a rapid fire barrage of great jokes that didn't let up, and I can't think of many other shows that had the same amount of hype and buzz over each episode ending, with the cryptograms, puzzles, and theories.

As much as Sup Forums seems to hate it, there was a period when it couldn't stop sucking GF's cock. There's speculation over why the ending happened the way it did, and a lot of people don't find it satisfying, but as a whole it's undeniably a very strong show.

I haven't rewatched it, but I personally felt that the weakest ep was that roadtrip one where Dipper gets pickup artist tips from Stan and then gets shit on by all the girls.
I felt the moral was confused and it was also pointless in that it didn't tie in with the story or do any world building.

The thing is, I really don't understand why people even wanted a 3rd season. There was so little left to resolve that many complained of season 2b feeling like filler. The ending was really as satisfying as it could reasonably be.

And I would probably agree on the roadtrip episode being the weakest relative to the others, though I still enjoyed it.

Mabel a shit

Mostly dirty.

Pacifica is better
Hotter
Bustier

Smarter
Blonder
Less apocalyptic

But much less of a character.

I wouldn't call Mabel much of a character either

They could have spread out 2a a little with mystery hijinks and ended it as a proper season 2 with the author reveal. Then they could have spent 2b having Ford actually develop as a character, spend some time with the other Mystery Shack peeps and townsfolk or even Mabel and build up the importance of the wheel or the undercurrent of Dipper and Mabel drifting apart. Instead most of that got shoved into it and we felt it, season 2b kinda sucked because it had no breathing room and when it did (road trip) it was kinda sucky. You could feel the burnout and Hirsch just wanting to end it during the time between NWHS and Weirdmageddon.

I wouldn't call you intelligent enough to make that judgement, either.

Mabel's whole character is essentially being insufferably cute and quirky

>They could have spread out 2a a little with mystery hijinks
See, there's the problem. That was already starting to wear thin by the end of season 1. Season 2 avoided that issue by cramming in a bunch of plot episodes, but if there was a 3rd season it wouldn't have been able to do that.
>season 2b kinda sucked because it had no breathing room and when it did (road trip) it was kinda sucky.
So the fact that a filler episode towards the end of the show sucked according to you means that we needed more of them?

Na man, I'm just saying it coulda used some filler to make Ford an actual member of the cast instead of sprinting to the end. I don't think mystery hijinks were wearing thin, people loved the Northwest Manor episode and seeing Dipper be the go-to paranormal guy was kinda cool. There could have been mummies or werewolves or will-o-wisps and more, the possibilities were endless.

Marbles is quite the selfish one, she's cute but Hersheys fucked up the writing and didn't redumble her. It's a shame, because Attracting Force State of Rapidly Descending could've been a 10/10 spaghettiO's

It really wouldn't have taken that much effort to give her some satisfying development.

I would've forgiven all of her bullshit throughout the series if she had just apologized for Weirdmageddon and promised to be a better sister to Dipper from now own.

>look at me, I'm the user that, instead of pointing out flaws in arguments I disagree with, I just call them memes and act like that proves them wrong, hey, look at me!

But those aren't arguments, he's just stating things that never happened in the show as if they were facts.

They had DD&D and it wasn't that great in terms of Ford's involvement. More episodes like that would have been grating.
(Same thing happened with The Stanchurian Candidate but to a lesser extent.)

And NMM was primarily liked for Pacifica's development, the whole thing about Dipper being the on-call guy for that was cool but barely noticed as a minor detail.

He's exaggerating, but his interpretation of the show towards the end is still accurate.

Except his exaggeration, if you can call it that, distorts the facts to the point that they don't resemble the show at all. He makes Mabel out to be a terrible person - you know, the same Mabel who broke down crying when told she isn't actually a good person, and did everything she could think of to change that?

1. Cute
2. I like seeing her get nailed by her twin brother, but not when it's aged up because then it's less cute.

Those are my honest thoughts in their entirety.

Unless the show pulled some completely convoluted bullshit like selective memory loss that never gets reversed, she was entirely apologetic for causing the apocalypse despite knowing that she did so.

The same mabel that can be impulsive (the deal made during Armageddon, shouting `DEATH` when asked how to punish blenden), as well as controlling (love guru) and arrogant (being shocked that a unicorn could think of her as anything less that completely innocent). She also, in the same episode you mentioned, starts listing actions that could cause the unicorn to dislike her.

You can't be serious... can you?

I'll admit that most of this is just bad writing on Alex's part, but an inconsistently written character can still be a bad character.

No, I'm shocked because those are ridiculously minor things for the most part, and all mistakes that even many generally well-meaning adults could make.

Just because you view these flaws as minor, that doesn't mean they aren't there, and whilst she might be well meaning, she never experiences any consequences. In all examples given, the situation either works itself out, wasn't an actual issue to begin with or is just ignored.

I wonder who has it worse.

Rowley or Dipper?

Rowley's got a terrible friend, but Dipper's got a terrible sibling. I'd lean towards Dipper

But Greg didn't do something irredeemable like causing the apocalypse

Would he have done that, if it were possible for him to?

More like an adorable bundle of shit

She looks cute when she's kissing her brother

her name rhymes with table. it also rhymes with schable

no seriously I love her. She's another Homestar Runner to me. I love goofy idiot characters who are actually written well instead of just being a plot black hole like Bloo or... basically everyone from old warner cartoons

Yep! I'd love my own Mabel. I mean, as it is, I got a sister that broke my shit and fucked my life up from time to time, i'd like to have that AND cuteness and love.

I love her slightly less than Mabel but for all the same reasons. she is my replacement Mabel
the problem is season 2b is mostly what 3 should have been. a proper season 2 would have had more time to explore Ford instead of just 'leave me alone, i have to remain a mystery for a while!' and the original plan was to have Bill only be the herald of an even worse bad guy.
Still, the way it ended up was fine

The thing is, if you cut out that one scene, and the scene where he fucking apologizes to BMO when she's the one who owes him an apology, .. basically if you cut out all the pussy-pass moments, it was great. the spider woman was great, the idea that old men can easily be tricked by slightly slutty women, that was as much as we needed. Right up til the end Dipper was, if you'll forgive the term, alpha as fuck

I love Mabel, but that isn't a good support for the obvious fact that she is a good person.. the fact is, people who react horribly to the suggestion that they might not be a good person... are often the worst. Genuinely good people are confident enough in it not to care what others think.
Then agian, she's years behind where she should be in development mentally and physically, so it helps if you think of her as 8. Those mistakes and emotional issues all make sense then

more more more more more more more
more with subtle lines that may or may not be a small dusting of leg hair on mabel

Less.

If it made him famous, throw in fucking over Rowley for the fourth motherfucking time in a row. Seriously, will Rowley ever learn?

Local girl ruins everything

Started great, never changed, turned into trash as the show went on and never forced her to change or make hard decisions.

Annoying and self-centered to the point of ruining the happiness of those around her?

/thread

I never truly disliked her, but I can see where the people who hated her were coming from.

Never really had a problem with her. I guess its because I don't self insert into Dipper like the rest of Sup Forums.

This may have been the exact picture that got me into that ship like, 4 years ago

>not a single bad episode
Dungeons dungeons and dungeons, Mayor Stan, Love God, Roadside Attraction, A Tale of Two Stans, Weirdmageddon part 2, The Last Mabelcorn...

Insufferable

A lot of the season 1 episodes were just kind of meh, as well.

That's true

Bad

She's okay.

I honestly prefer her reverse version

I don't care for her

>and the original plan was to have Bill only be the herald of an even worse bad guy.
They didn't change that because of the show being only 2 seasons, though. They changed it because they really couldn't think of a more interesting villain.

>comparing quirky jewish normal girl to a lolsorandumb tween alien bimbo
since I like to give credit.

Insufferable bitch. She calmed down somewhat as a adult and ended up as a cafeteria lunch lady. I do not envy Kruppe when those repressed memories with her brother resurface.

imo the show never had enough respect for mabel's story arc (finding a boyfriend) and always turned these plots into a joke, they weren't ever really treated equally and I hate that. I agree that she's annoying but I feel like it's because she was always cast as the sidekick and never the protagonist

Why do you keep posting this shit, and why do you think Mabel is Jewish?

>and why do you think Mabel is Jewish?
Not him but I recall ONE occasion where she shouts "Mazel tov!" to congratulate Stan on something.

That was a joke

>Why do you keep posting this shit
Because making fun of you SVTFOE losers is fucking hilarious?

You're just posting the same thing every time, wouldn't that get old for you after a while?
