That's just it, the comics division is too fucking stupid to even hire market researchers

Because they get enough profit from repeated 1st issues and gimmicks

They are making dozens of movies, releasing three in 2018.
Black Panther, Avengers Infinity War, and Ant-Man & the Wasp.

Oh? The comics? Almost no one reads those anyway.

They feed on fanboy hate.

Why did you post about a different company? No one mentioned Marvel Studios

This exploded spectacularly on their faces.

Uhhh.
1- Becuase fuck you, you white cishit.
2- Marvel is OUR company.
3- Grow up.

...

the big 2 were a mistake

Hell, why not let artist/writers do passion projects! Both Kris Anka and Clay Mann want to do a New X-Men book! Why not let them?
>>But it won't sell
Compared to the shit they're pushing now a days? Nobody buys Unstoppable Wasp, and yet Nadia is in multiple books. Moon Girl is the bottom selling book and somehow, the character appears in 4 books a month minimum! Yes, I know Schoolastics is a big part, but if nobody is buying the single issues, why are you putting her in prominence in other books if only her own book sells? That's like finding out that niche people like Elder porn on a website, so you start sticking elderly people all over your porn output!

Marvel Studios makes the movies, Marvel does not. In fact, the fact that all the writers are waiting for the next slate of movie announcements to shape their comic world is really troubling. We know that once Phase 4 appears, we'll start getting a push for all these new characters and series. It's just that Marvel writers aren't paid enough to give the company their best ideas because they know they won't get any benefits.

Disney is going to sell the comic division soon anyway while keeping movie rights.

(fuck, sent prematurely)
With that in mind, they're going to be forced to soon, since Disney will no longer be supporting their ass anymore.

marvel exists to virally market the movies in comic book form

Because people like are delusional and still think the comics and the movie divisions are the same even though they haven't been since like a year or two ago.

Even when they were more closely linked Studios revenue didn't trickle back to comics editors or anything. Doesn't explain why they aren't motivated to put out good product.

>Disney is going to sell the comic division soon anyway while keeping movie rights.

Source?

You got a source on that? Because that would just be the best fucking news.

Yep, and what happens when the comics look like the films and the films need more stuff to take ideas from? Like, they're already merging the Kree/Skrull war for their Captain Marvel film.

I miss, Surge and Rockslide, and Anole and Armor and Loa and Helion and mercury and Dust

I can't seem the find it at the moment, but I know someone pulled one up in a thread talking about Spider-Man 4. Basically, Disney will be selling off properties they no longer see as profitable. Marvel Comics seems to be the prime candidate.

Was Armor ever really a part of that crew? Sure she was the same era but she seemed to be off being a teacher's pet more than anything.

>I can't seem the find it at the moment

Meaning it was pulled from someone's ass.

>Disney will be selling off properties they no longer see as profitable. Marvel Comics seems to be the prime candidate.

Except the negative press from that would be embarrassing.

For Disney? Not really.

>Was Armor ever really a part of that crew?

Not really, no but I still liked her and it wouldn't be hard to write her into the bunch

>but she seemed to be off being a teacher's pet more than anything.

see right, here. That gives you a lot to work with alone. Right off the bat we can have her be at odds with Surge on their views about the adult X-men and Id love to see Santo try and prove which one of them is stronger. Also maybe ship with Hellion? They had a nice little thing post Death of Wolverine and the teacher's pet and class troublemaker is a classic formula

>Meaning it was pulled from someone's ass.
I mean, at this point it /is/ only a rumor, but considering Disney is /already/ starting to sell shit, it seems the rumors may be true after all.

>Except the negative press from that would be embarrassing.
It's been said already in thread. No one gives a shit about the comics. As long as Disney still has the movie rights no one will bat an eye. Hell, knowing their Jew magic it might not even be reported on.

because printing things people don't want is still successful

Now subtract over shipping.

Sorry user but I don't trust any chart that doesn't have any numerical values on it.

>is still successful
Marvel clearly doesn't give a fuck about money lost on overshipping

comicsbeat.com/diamond-sales-figures-dc-passed-marvel-in-units-in-march/

even when DC passes Marvel in units shipped, Marvel still wins in the dollar share

Because they legitimately hate the few people still stupid enough to read their comics.

I wonder why that could be. Maybe it has something to do with Marvel comics costing twice as much as DC.

Look, i hate their jewy jew jew pricing as well but its not 2x.

BUUUUUUT, what I think theyre too stupid to realise is that for example... in Canada, with the exchange rate, a 3.99 comic ends up being 5.25

so not only is DC pricing them out, depending on the country their books are even MORE expensive.

I really hope DC holds strong on 2.99 for their regular bi-weekly/monthly books, events and other stuff is diff obviously.

>Why don't they listen to h̶e̶i̶r̶ ̶m̶a̶r̶k̶e̶t̶ ̶r̶e̶s̶e̶a̶r̶c̶h̶e̶r̶s̶ pissy neckbeards like myself and release things that t̶h̶i̶n̶g̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶ appeal to my every shrinking demographic?
Because they can do basic math. While they continue to outsell everyone else month in and month out it's still a losing game because floppie and digital floppie sales are flat. The growth is in trades and OGN's that are sold outside of the direct market.

TL;DR your fat ass doesn't rate.

They don't want you to buy your comics, they want little girl black muslin tranny lesbians to buy their comics. That is marvel's targeted demographic, they hate the hardcore/actual fanbase

Marvel would rather have A-Lister books sell 20,000 a month if it means it's bought by their snowflake demographic as opposed to it selling 120,000 a month and being bought by cis white male fanboys

it will never cease to amaze me how little Marvel has taken advantage of their normie popularity

>how little Marvel has taken advantage of their normie popularity

Normies don't read comic books

Every other company sees a rise in trade sales when they have something come out but Marvel doesn't.

DC just put out a low effort Batman vs Superman battles book and it sold 45k copies just because it was released the same year as a shitty movie. TWD collections sell like crazy. Marvel should at least have Demon in a Bottle or something selling 30k+ a year because of RDJ but they fucked it up somehow.

I agree on that being the best thing ever, that is why I dont think it will ever happen

Part of what fucks them over is, again, the price... their collected editions are usually a good 20$ more per page count than any other publisher and the paper quality in most of their trades now is absolute shit. tissue thin. shit.

What books exactly suffer from this? Just in case they happen to be ones I'm wanting to purchase.

You're not wrong, but DC gets people to buy 80 page TKJ for $18 just because it's considered "important". Something has seriously gone wrong at Marvel for them to have missed the boat on this. I would fire everyone in charge of trades at this point.

You know how marvel movies always seems to get toned down and cool shit cut?

Its because they listen to audience feedback from test runs. Never rely on the plebs to have taste or know what they want.

I Am Legend was fucked in the ass by focus groups

pretty much all of their single arc tpb's now, there are some like the epic collections that are on a heavier weight paper, and i've never seen what the big omnis are like.

But, for example.. although i love the story.... the superior foes omni, even though its small, and looks great on a shelf, has the same thin as fuck paper as most of their trades.

Older stuff like..... Simonson Thor tpb's and DD man without fear, or whatever... tend to be pretty decent. theyre still overpriced though compared to the competition, and sometimes recolors which may or may not piss you off.

Exactly. Comics are the same way.

You know what we did prior to the movie shit? Recycle the same plots over and over along with trying to recapture the magic of X popular event/character because comic fans liked it. However this saw diminishing returns. Does anyone remember when wolvie was in every book/team? How it was rite of passage to team-up with spider-man?

Marvel at this point is just trying to expand their audience because they realize the image of comics being nothing more than women in skimpy clothing and buff whites dudes punching each other isn't sustainable. However keeping in tune with their shortsightedness, they are going about it the complete wrong way and trying to get over night results.
