Kubrick understood the book further than just the erotic parts. Lyne's only advantage over Kubrick is the nudity.
Kubrick's film had amazing acting all around while Lyne got Melanie Griffith.

As this is a screen adaption of a book, they need to show, not tell.

I don't watch any movies at all. Ever. Only thing I've seen since the year started is Planet Earth II and reruns of the Simpsons (S06). Once in a blue moon I'll put on something like Koyaanisqatsi or the Neon Demon but I don't really like movies that much outside of those mainstream artsy efforts. This board however is one of the most consistently funny boards on Sup Forums so that's why I lurk here.
