I share similar sentiments with the user you replied to. I'm a chink and I can't remember the last time we had leads in hollywood movies outside of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. It never stopped me from connecting with the characters therein.

No because many of these critics have blogs or columns that have to be purchased and carried by newspapers. They are freelance in nearly every way. They aren't entitled to access or invitations in the same way reporters can lose access to a political campaign. They aren't fired from their job but they are rendered impotent.

I'm kind of half tempted to see it. It's seriously going to be hard to tell how it actually is without seeing it because the reviews are a shitshow.

Is this the ultimate level of delusion? These people are literally delusional at this point. They keep hearing that they are kings or something. Black people are as important as anyone else, but they keep pushing that they are more important. It's not even a joke anymore. They think whitey literally stole their advanced alien tech and enslaved them in the 1600s. They think they were the rulers of the world. They are fucking insane and might be dangerously stupid at this point.

But Lando was a former smuggler/gambler that turned into the administrator of an illegal mining operation, which is completely realistic sci-fi aspects aside. Black Panther is about black Jesus is Wonderland and that's the most realistic part.

I am tempted to see it as well. I would love for it to actually be good, but it's hard to tell because anything with this sort-of campaign behind it will get good reviews regardless of actual quality. It's really fucking hard to tell now whether a movie is as good as people say it is.

There is a deep socio-economic divide on why the planet turned out the way it did, how tiny little countries like *Denmark* were able to become colonial powers when a continent as large as Africa remained largely stagnant at stone-age levels.

The answer would seemingly be that northern european culture was simply more successful (why *that* is would be a debate in itself) but even that is severely frowned upon because its too close to suggesting white people are superior to brown people (when its not saying that, its saying its a culture thing not a race thing). So all sorts of academics have looked for alternate reasons. See "Guns, Germs, and Steel" for one example. It must be a fluke of geography or of the sorts of domestic animals/plants the areas happened to possess or simply bad luck. Anything but one culture being more driven and successful than another.

Even with that idea rejected when its against Africa, the idea is allowed to linger when it comes to colonialism. Northern Europe wasn't successful because it was superior, but Africa *failed* because of that success that allowed for colonialism. Its a peculiar form of doublethink.

That is also wrong in that African nations weren't doing anything for centuries before those pesky europeans showed up. They had the resources and they simply didn't use them. Blaming africa on colonialism now when they weren't doing anything *then* is a lie that white guilt liberals tell themselves to avoid some much-needed deeper thought on the matter.
