Decide for yourself.
This
I loved it. Go on your own you'll enjoy it more.
based score is based
This film is proof that no matter how well acted and directed something is it can still be shit if the story is awful. Fuck me what a bore.
Shut the fuck up kid. If you found this boring, you're autistic who can't live outside his own head, you fucking cunt.
It's the best film of 2017 OP and probably the best film of the last 5 years too.
Goddamn piece of shit, you're lucky they don't let me out or I'd beat your ass raw.

It was brilliant.
That final scene.
I loved it but I generally like PTA movies, if you dont you may not like it.
If you do, its bloody brilliant
Hope this, PTA and DDL get Oscars
No need to project, take this sorry excuse for cinema along with Blade Runner 2049 and git out.
Nah, There Will be Blood was great and this was garbage. Liking his movies has nothing to do with it.
Armond said its shit and inauthentic poseur auteur
And he's usually right
>dishonest
Stop using reddit buzzwords fag
it's fine if you didn't understand it. its a very complex film and you sound quite stupid.
It didn't overwhelm me the way Master or TWBB did, but it was a very intimate and atmospheric movie. I loved it for that. I didn't expect the dark direction it ultimately took, nor did I expect that sort of resolution... but I loved it. The main three actors/actresses were exceptional. I'll happily see it again.
>inauthentic poseur auteur
Literally 90% of what Sup Forums considers kino would fit that description.
Do you have ACTUAL criticism? For example heres one I have. The actress playing Alma is stiff and not lively.
I saw it last night I was the only person in the theater. It was a very magical night.
Unironically the best Romantic Comedy in the last decade
This go to excuse is getting tired. People can understand something, that does not change it from being boring. You can tell a better story in an interesting way.
It's extremely honest filmmaking in that it doesn't try to subvert or pander to your expectations and doesn't include any elements of postmodernism. Very well acted and the girl is beautiful.
>The actress playing Alma is stiff and not lively.
She was meant to be, her character was walking on egg shells.
Is it me or did her accent change about 1/3 into the movie?
this
it is literally one long oedipal love letter to his mother, the whole movie his based off one of his own experiences he wanted to meme about
id like to see you do better
spot the redditors
Give me the same budget and equally talented actors, maybe I would. The bar is not exactly set high here.
She always sounded French to me
The best movie of 2017
you have to write your own script as well. PTA isnt just going to give it to you
Are you insane? She gives the best performance in the film.
The script is the worst thing about it, everything that was pretty good (like the music) had nothing to do with the god awful plot.
>Paul Thomas Anderson
Meh
What's wrong with the plot?
TOO MUCH MOVEMENT AT BREAKFAST
Goes nowhere, just repetitive claustrophobic mental masturbation. This user gets it
it's mostly about emotional involvement and relationships which user doesn't understand because of an emotionally isolated and stunted youth
just let him go back to br2049, to the feels he can feel.
You don't seem to understand. This is me
I truly don't understand what you mean by it goes nowhere or that it's repetitive. It quite clearly has a narrative thrust that evolves as it develops.
nothing theres just one too many painfully thick autitsts in the thread
Thanks for the insight Paul.
>caring about stories in movies
Could a man be more reddit?
>caring about stories in a storytelling medium
I love it
...
I've seen all the Oscar flicks, this was my favorite. Make of that what you will.
>best film of the last 5 years
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>doesn't include any elements of postmodernism
It sure as hell does kiddo
>Freudian themes!
>le Oedipus complex !!
>wow psychology !
>so deep!
>deep!
It is.
Go on
Story or no story its objectively a beautiful film about the struggle between giving away your creations or giving away your love, and trying to balance it
this, the entire idea of a 70s perv like PTA doing an english period piece is inherently postmodern. the fact he is quoting 'rebecca' but making it a stronk womyn. The fact its played pretty straight but is actually making fun of the genre. Nigga is postmodern to the core.
The film is very chic.
Also, best score of the year, hands down.
>best score of the year
Yep. Greenwood knocked it out of the park.
