You're missing the point of just how much more conclusive the ending really was. Coop isn't ever really finished in his quest to save laura and conquer judy, he's just going to perpetually jump from reality to reality until he and the world around him are completely unrecognisable. If there was to be another series of Twin Peaks it wouldn't actually be "Twin Peaks" because too much has changed.

The Return was a mistake.

I'm actually okay with this. The more time I've had to think about it, the finale of the Return is more and more satisfying. I think Lynch gave it his all, and I don't need another season.

I can feel it in the air, I can sense it. There may be not a 4th season but in 1 - 3 years we will get a final movie which will lift the whole seasons to an even more insane meta level and willl still bring us a satisfying ending.

That'd be cool, but I think what would be even more suited to his sensibilities would be something along the lines of inland empire, where you have recurring characters (or even just actors playing different roles) and their stories unfolding in a disjointed and non-linear fashion.

Since the return finished, I've been getting sucked into Adult Swim's The Cry Of Mann recently. It's about as close you can get to lynch's unbridled weirdness without actually watching any of his oeuvre

I haven't watched Twin Peaks, but it sounds like the most frustrating show ever because David Lynch is as he is. It's alright for movies, to not understand what the fuck is going on at the end, but for tv shows, surely after investing years you want to come out with some resolution, no?
