Not coz of Sofia or Tom, but coz of how cynical it is. They didn't even try to be subtle. Ripping off so many scenes, and turning it into high-budget pilot episode.
It had everything and nothing. Mummy, zombies, water, planes, chases, scene where mummy shows up behind hero, straight from Japan horrors. Dead friend from American werewolf in London, doctor Jekyll and much much more. In addition Cruise self-estem ending, where he becomes literally a fucking god.
It was so cynical that made it kind of adorable.
Moreover, it was technically well-made movie. great effects, sets, stunts. really enjoyable and feels real, and solid casting but writing... oh boy, cringe humor and dialogues, awful characters (blonde bitch, what she had to do?) and generally so much B-movie feeling. If you watch if with black and white filter, feels like these B-tier ones from 50s.
I wouldnt be surprised if it becomes kind of cult classic, as many such movies.
