Honestly from all I've heard about Detective Pikachu he actually is supposed to be the serious, hard-boiled detective type so it is really hard to imagine Ryan Reynolds of all people pulling that off. But it would be amazing if he does.

Danny Devito was the perfect choice no matter how r*ddit it sounds. Anything gruff and snarky would’ve killed. If Ryan somehow pulls it off it’ll be true kino

Im sorry but no matter how many 400 million dollar grossing capeshit movies he is in every time I see him on the screen with his stupid looking face I just see Van Wilder. It was his best movie by a mile.

I don't know about Devito, he's got the same problem as Reynolds where just about all his roles are comedic. I really think if they'd gone with Hugh Jackman like they were considering it would have been an amazing choice. That said I really hope Reynolds can manage it after all.

By the time Ledger was cast as Joker he'd already shown he could nail serious films like Brokeback Mountain.

Where are you getting this idea that it’s gonna be serious from? I can’t imagine this movie not being FUN. And it’s all about the voice man. Devito’s voice coming out of Pikachu would’ve been as iconic as an Oz accent coming out of Pikachu easy.
