The Characters were bland, boring, and forgettable.Same goes for the plot. The only highlight of the movie was some of the boots on the ground action at the end thats it.
Why does everyone have such a raging boner over this?
SW finally brave enough to kill all characters
it was something new and fresh for it
It looked good. It had world building. The Empire was allowed to be serious - even the Rebels questioned their methods of winning at all costs. Religions are relevant to the world again, too.
It didn't feel too hollywoodish, it had some soul. Though not in the characters, I think.
It's entertaining enough, if barely.
As far as Disney SW is concerned, it's the only one that doesn't actively shit on established lore stuff, sooo
the last third of it was at least mindlessly entertaining, even though you have completely checked out of the story by then
>Why does everyone have such a raging boner over this?
? people hate this movie and won't stop shitting on it whenever it's mentioned. you're delusional
we already knew they were all going to die. It was mentioned in A New Hope so no surprise there..
I knew how it would end and it still kept me entertained.
Is it brave to kill off characters that barely have personalities and likeable traits in the first place?
Depending on your views it wasn't as shit as TFA or TLJ. That's about it
I know a good bit of people that say this is their favorite SW movie. There are idiots out there who like it
Pretty much. I would've liked to see the original edit though.
>why do people think this piece of shit was shit?
kill yourself faggot
contrarianism
just wait until Solo is an obvious disaster and makes underperforming money and gets middling reviews and it'll be the new Sup Forums darling
It was $60 million SW fanfiction, so yes, people jizzed over it.
I watched it once, never need to watch it again.
>i'm fresh off the boat!
because it was muh grim and gritty Star Wars where everybody dies
underage shits love it when that happens
I agree. Story and characters were Phantom Menace-tier. It was a nice movie to look at though.
>SW finally brave enough to kill all characters
They killed 1 dimensional nobodies, so what was the point?
Biggs' death had more resonance. Hell, even the death of the majority of Red Squadron.
>The Empire was allowed to be serious
Until donnie yen and felicity karated them to death (somehow).
It was great flick for one viewing, and the only post-Lucas movie that I didn't regret buying a ticket for.
>It was mentioned in A New Hope
No it wasn't.
Nah and nah. Order 66 had more of an effect and it was the same thing.
Where were the Bothans cunt? WHERE WERE THE BOTHANS?!?!?!?!
I like the part where the rebels died.
I also admired switching up the usual Star Wars samurai movie/WW2 bomber movie formula for kung fu/Vietnam/heist movie. In that sense it was one of the more original entries in the franchise.
Now I can watch Star Wars as an adults.
It is like an adults star wars without embarrassing me as an adult above the age of 40 something.
That's the second Death Star.
Pure fanservice.
Thats all
I liked it for bunni waifu
Not really? It killed off side characters while this killed main characters. You can't tell me that Plo Kloon or Kit Fisto were main characters. Clone Wars episodes staring them came afterwards
You sure? Coulda sworn mothma mentions many bothans dying to bring them the info. Well in that case, where was kyle?
because it's not tlj. That's literally the only reason. This movie was shit on HARD for 12 months
Bothans steal the plans in ROTJ, not ANH. Rogue One is the ANH prequel.
Mon Martha wasn't a thing until episode 6... with the second death star.
As for Kyle Katarn, were you not around when Disney purged the EU?
I want that buck teeth to bite my foreskin
The movie is graded on a curve for not being the abortion that was Jew Jew Binks' movie or like the prequels or the most recent movie that we should agree didn't happen.
All appeared in ep1, 2, 3, official media such as books and merchandise etc, all estavlished before Ep3 even. Everyone in RO is a literal nobody with no affect on the series until some menopausal whore decided they should be.
He mistakes them for bothans that stole second death star shit
Theyve had SW for how long? And they scrapped over 30 years of established lore and fandom for all this, why?
How much of the average movie goer paid attention to them or read the books? Don't get me wrong, as somebody who knew about all those people it was emotional, but to the average person who only watches the movie, the emotional attachment is more towards main characters than side character that got expanded on later
>Coulda sworn mothma mentions many bothans dying to bring them the info.
She did. In Jedi.
>Well in that case, where was kyle?
Kyle doesn't exist anymore.
To be fair, old EU was 99% horse shite while everyone brings up the gems constantly. Disney EU has already reached that level, surprisingly.
>i'm a pathetic faggot who doesn't know when i'm being baited. I should fucking kill myself
This, to me, was a movie that didn't need to be made but I enjoyed nonetheless. Did it have faults? Yes, but what movie doesn't? There were a few fan service moments that I thought were a bit on the nose but all in all I say this was a solid entry in the film lore. I will say that the Death Star test firing bit was awesome to see and of course Darth Vader ruining people's shit at the end made me figuratively cum volumes that would make Peter North bow his head in shame.
Anymore. Thats the point. He existed for decades, yet with the wave of a withered appendage, purged, and for what, awful, trully awful fanfic.
Poe's law, yadda yadda. Especially on Sup Forums
Because the House Of Mouse paid George Lucas. And because they despise us.
>To be fair, old EU was 99% horse shite
to be fair you never even read it.
The threads obviously b8 m8. Why bother opening it instead of hiding it if youre gonna whine about peoples opinions and comments?
>gonna
going to
You're kidding right? For every Thrawn trilogy, there were at least five Kathleen Travis Clone Wars books.
Because Sup Forums has to be contrarian so they overpraise this while shitting on TLJ. No doubt when Episode 9 comes out Sup Forums will shit on that and declare TLJ a masterpiece.
>3 extra letters and a space being excluded triggers people
I'm triggered by the hammer
Karen Traviss
The Clone Wars cartoon that ended up becoming canon shit all over everything she wrote too.
Nah, I will keep my opinion on that trash because Sup Forums is not one person.
One thing I noted is that so many of the scenes were shot in such dark, closed quarters. It was obvious the majority of the movie was unambitious in creating panoramic scenes. One of the biggest appeals of fantasy movies.
When they had an actual spanning shoot out in a bright location it actually hurt my eyes because of how dark the entire 85% of the film was
Thank you, I was doing it off the top of my head. Also, I'm glad her shit got wrote out.
Amen user.
>The Characters were bland, boring, and forgettable
It's possible that this is always the first thing out of anyone's mouth about R1 because it's true.
But given that the characters are motivated, not weird copies of OT characters, and that K at the very least is memorable enough that nobody could honestly claim the whole cast is boring, I think it's just a meme. People kinda don't like it but they can't figure out why so they just say this. Everyone else said it, why not them?
Rogue One is a perfectly good spinoff. Doesn't shit on the established universe, shows us a side of the universe we haven't seen before (rank and file Rebels doing wetwork) and cleans itself up tidily at the end of the movie. It's far from perfect but it didn't make me froth with rage like the mainline sequels.
what you think is irreverent when you haven't read any of it.
>Because Sup Forums has to be contrarian so they overpraise this while shitting on TLJ.
how new are you user?
What about the Battle of Scarif? A large portion of it takes place in orbit, and a lot of the rest is on the beaches.
Speaking of which, tropical beach is actually a new setting for Star Wars. The rock n' rain planet is also distinct, and of course the asteroid bridge trading outpost.
you should stop lowering yourself to posting like a nigger user
>and declare TLJ a masterpiece
Just like we did with TFA right?
>we
Defend the existence of Luuke, Lightsaber whips or Suncrusher.
>Lightsaber whips
Don't they have one of these in the throne room scene in TLJ?
Niggers should stop appropriating my culture and use their own words when they're lazy. Whitey taught em English so unless they go back to clicking, they choke on my white privelegde
Yep. I'm not saying current EU isn't garbage, but old EU wasn't much better.
>Where were the Bothans cunt? WHERE WERE THE BOTHANS?!?!?!?!
Bothan spies stole the plans for the second death star in RTOJ, not ANH
you haven't made any point user, mentioning things people think were good or bad doesn't prove anything. you'll have to try reading them to form your own opinion kiddo.
And my opinion is that 99% of it is garbage. Good old EU was really fucking good. Bad old EU was really fucking bad. Same with new EU
>taking the bait
kill yourself faggot
It was extensive enough to be almost entirely filled with stand alones and has just as many good as bad parts. DisneyEU is majority garbage.
You're the one who started addressing Sup Forums like a singular entity, but most of the discussion I've seen about TFA here is about whether it's mostly to blame for TLJ's shittiness or was just shitty on its own.
your opinion remains irrelevant user
While that may be true, there have been some kino stuff with nu-EU, like the Rogue One prequel books and some of the Vader comics.
>You're the one who started addressing Sup Forums like a singular entity
no that was my first post. lurk more faggot
don't butt in where you're not wanted
Very true, and old EU does have the advantage of decades of material. Still IMHO DisnEUs best parts stick out like a sore thumb and just makes the rest of the tripe seem much less worthy of attention.
>there have been some kino stuff with nu-EU, like the Rogue One prequel books and some of the Vader comics.
Embarrassing
stop displaying your ignorance
I can agree on that
Look, they aren't Thrawn Trilogy or Jedi academy levels, but they would fit in nicely with the better end of the old EU if not for their contradictory content to the old EU
you're a disgusting little fag who's helping fund the disney destruction of star wars. kill yourself.
Hey if I like something, I will get it. It just so happens I liked the Rogue One prequel novels and the Vader comics. Everything else is toilet trash though.
i have a raging boner for jyn
It was kino. I see it as more a story of the world rather than the characters in it. Krennic did nothing wrong.
>talks about beach shootoff
>”but what about the beach shootoff”
user, I..
Standards have been lowered by the force awakens and the last jedi.
