is it worth watching?
The Lost City of Z
I thought it was pretty interesting, def liked the sort of surreal feeling of venturing into the unknown which the movie portrayed pretty much perfectly. The acting was pretty perfect as well.
Other than that though, there isn't much substance. Still def worth a watch or two.
No. It was boring, I fell asleep.
It's alright, just don't expect any actual interesting archeology or conversely an action film
absolutely. one of 2017's best films. it really sucks the film hasn't received the accolades The Immigrant did a few years ago. Gray is a mature old-fashioned filmmaker so don't expect any technical hijinks. i do wish it had a slightly larger budget, though.
yes one of my favourites of the year
It's like they took the aesthetic of the jungle parts of The Fountain and put it on yet another Aguirre homage. Great cinematography and the lead actor is good, but it's sort of one of those movies where not a lot happens. Plenty of events occur but none of it matters. It's clear the director has some kind of point to make but it's intentionally obfuscated in the name of "art".
I found it worth watching but if you don't care for the characters/actors or the cinematography you will probably be bored.
does the roastie on this poster have lots of screentime?
james gray is a really frustrating director
all his movies have the potential to be masterpieces, but he completely falls flat every single time. His sci fi movie sounds good too but you just know what's gonna happen with the final product.
you get to see her bare arse
It's literally an old 30s/40s adventure film with modern techniques
Is it good? Yes, very much so.
Is it hard to watch for amateur kinolovers? Yes.
I get laid enough... I want a movie where men go into uncharted territory. I can still go to youporn before to bust one.
I don't know if I would call Two Lovers a masterpiece, but I thought it was one of the best films in recent memory
I want to get slapped like that.
Two Lovers and The Immigrant are masterpieces. The Yards, We Own the Night and Z are fantastic and Odessa is a good film. You tripping, my man
It was fucking shit.
>Two Lovers and The Immigrant are masterpieces
Prove it
I wasn't crazy about it. It's a gorgeous movie if you just want to experience turn of the century exploring, but so much the movie is overwritten with characters literally saying their minor characterizations aloud repeatedly. The last section feels rushed and has the most abstract visuals of the entire film, and makes the ending feel unearned and underdeveloped.
Gray literally does the same mirror trick shot he did in the end of the Immigrant, to much lesser effect. One of the best endings ever in that film but this one it comes off as lazy
it is a masterpiece indeed
It's very well made albeit too slow, the real problem is to be based on Fawcett's life. He did a lot of interest things, and the book do a far better job portraying his personality, his adventures and the cult that folllowed his disappearance. I strogly recomend the book, since Fawcett life was fascinant and the story of the more than hundred expeditions that to this day try to find his remains are really interesting.
It's great
