My philosophy: Always get the Blu-Ray. Only get the DVD if the tightwads are too lazy for a Blu-Ray release.

Yeah, which is is weird since Bluray players are pretty cheap now and backwards compatible so it's not like you have to replace your whole collection like you had to with VHS. I don't know why people enjoy watching 480p on a bigscreen 1080p TV.

Actually, a lot of Blu-Ray players have upscaling algorithms that get it close to HD. I've tried it with my SpongeBob DVDs, and it does wonders.

Shout! Factory and Disney are the only two companies I know who actually give a shit about mastering quality. Shout! Factory in particular will go through hell and back just to make sure a certain film has a Blu-Ray release. They did the Blu-Ray release of Garbage Pail Kids for Christ's sake, and good god did they polish that turd.

They have a 5 dollar bin of dvds and a 7 dollar bin of blu rays at Wal-Mart. Its just 2 dollars more. Just buy the damn bluray. It looks better and sometimes has a slipcover.
