Altered Carbon is arguably better than Bladerunner 2049, yet audiences love it but critics think it's mediocre.
What gives? It uses tropes, sure, but uses them well. It's the first show to integrate sex and violence perfectly the boner inducing fight scene with Rei and Ortega.
It explored relevant concepts, had generally good acting, a good plot, great atmosphere and deeply interesting take on human consciousness.
This show should be considered absolutely revolutionary, why did critics not see that?
Hello rrrrrrrrredit! This show is pure unadulterated capeshit and you are a supreme king pleb for liking it.
Ryder Robinson
its good minus the deus ex machina
Noah Price
Lmao
Brandon Williams
The acting is weak, the writing is awful, the world building is okay but nothing interesting is done with it and the production values are totally all over the place.
Noah Ortiz
It was overall only ok, and comparing it with a movie isn't intelligent because the two formats can't achieve the same thing. E1 - 6 were far superior to 7-10, and apparently only 1-6 follow the book and 7-10 was invented for the tv show. 1-6 were good because it was kovac solving a murder crime by investigating the lowlifes of the city. 7 - 10 were really bad because they had Ortega and Kovac take on the most power most elite in the society which they had built up as immortal gods, and yet it degenerates into Ortega and Kovac and Lizzie beating up the villains henchman like some kim possible episode. Also the deus ex machina with lizzie was fucking horrendous i can't believe that made it into the final plot.
Michael Kelly
It's only Deus Ex Machina if it comes out of nowhere. It was established Poe was using time dilation so Lizzie could train for months/years like Goku while only days passed in real life. Lizzie training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for years to be a super ninja explains her prowess.
Nicholas Lee
Not even close to better, the acting is kind of bad, the dialogue is sometimes cringy, the interactions between the envoy and the latina investigator are stupid (sometimes they act like they like each other, sometimes not, and all this disregarding their work ethics), but that said, I like it, the pacing is nice, and the world is really interesting.
Anthony Allen
Tfw it's literally better quality to pirate the series 4k -> 1080p encode Now if only Netflix audio bitrate wasn't dogshit
Zachary Diaz
It's an insult to the book. Thing is, the book wasn't really that great. Overall agree with the not shills. 6 or 7/10. Disappointing
Tyler Flores
Gives me hope about a Neuromancer series / movie that will also probably get okay ratings
Nicholas Adams
its kind of disgusting how much they changed from the book. None of the changes are good either. Found out the showrunner was a woman. As can be expected.
Angel Nguyen
The last three episodes were fucking garbage.
Adrian Hill
The Latina detective is so fucking annoying. Her accent makes me want to set my house on fire. Seriously, is it too much to ask for an attractive person that speaks proper English as a first language.
Jason Murphy
>It's an insult to the book. both BR and BR“46 are also insults to dadoes book yet there is not novelfags on their threads its very weird.
Ryan Perez
Her hotness is so off the charts the random Spanish cursing and weird accent literally don't register with male viewers
Isaac Lopez
Will I ever get to see her cooch in the show?
Mason Cox
Yes.
Chase Rogers
Is it a bullshit merkin or can you see the lips?
Jace Stewart
Bullshit merkin.
Joshua Jenkins
I haven't actually started the show yet but >Lots of actors show their dicks in movies >Very very few women show actual labia Whats with this shit
Luke Thomas
The lead chick is fucking hot.
Matthew Allen
Binged this show yesterday and really enjoyed it.
I've missed the cyberpunk aesthetic done well.
Brayden Reed
Best to nudity for years
Sebastian Ross
Netflix shill kys fucking faggot. This show was garbage like every other Netflix shows.
Julian Cook
Delete this
Anthony Fisher
It's a NetFlix show. "Critics" are basically paid to shit on it.
Gavin Hughes
what was the superhero it was based on again?
Dylan Perez
Saw the first episode. Cool concept, mediocre acting, and also it was really weirdly shot. Like there's no sense of space. No establishing shots. Every scene takes place in some undefined, dimly lit indoors "space" (can't even call it a room because we're never shown anything but close ups). I know it's to get the cyberpunk oppression accross but I found it grating.
Justin Mitchell
>everything I don't like is "capeshit"
Eli Carter
>nigga literally sees people through walls first episode >whole series he is made out to be this magical badass who can just divine shit out of his ass >not superhero capeshit made to appease manchildren like you I don't even need to mention the forced comedy, the cliche lines, the asspulls, or the characters designed to be powerful or "badass" without any thought put into what is actually needed to make strong and well designed characters. Its mindless dredge that shit the bed halfway through and you should feel bad for trying to defend it.
Henry Ortiz
leave
Jeremiah Morales
no
Thomas Richardson
This this aaaaarrrrrgh. I don't fucking understand why people like this have to change well written books to appeal more to their sensibilities. Like Tak NEEDING women to save his ass at the end or actually saying in an interview she DELIBERATELY made sure it was a white male being tortured in VR.
Nolan Jenkins
Best little sister. Too bad they turned her into a complete retard in the last two episodes.
Jace Thomas
Just finished watching episode 5. This episode was shit. It broke the pacing, and it felt like a soap opera.
Adam Smith
>Altered Carbon is arguably better than Bladerunner 2049, It would be a losing arguement
Grayson Evans
and she shows her tits in every movie or tv show she has been since "Amarte Duele"
Elijah Miller
I actually felt that her Mexican accent and Mexican cursing make her even hotter than she is, but I'm Mexican and have had a hardon for Martha Higareda since 2002
Brandon Moore
>b-baka tak-kun...it...it's not like I love you or anything...
>Reileen would rather have her brother to herself in an incestuous way
Leo Davis
GIVE ME A CHAD SLEEVE WHY DO I HAVE TO LIVE IN THIS SHITTY MIXED UGLY MANLET SLEEVE
Parker Butler
its worse in every aspect, especially the acting is downright horrendous. I like it, but it isnt the best tv series and comparing it to blade runner is quite a reaxh user
>tfw you have a imouto so tsundere she'd execute scores of innocent people to get to you
Jaxon Peterson
why does she look so weird.. btw was that girl Aztec Rex?
Joseph Hall
Episodes 6-10 are literally some of the worst things I've ever seen. >Rei could not deliver a single line of dialogue without it sounding terrible and clunky >the entire Lizzie storyline >the atrocious ending >everyone suddenly knows kung fu in the last two episodes The show had me up until the twist and it fell apart horribly. To say that this is better than Blade Runner is the opinion of an unadulterated fucking retard.
Cooper Bennett
>why does she look so weird
Because she's a mix of an Aussie and a Tibetan sand fox.
Samuel Sanchez
dem Tibetan genes
Isaiah Nguyen
post all nudes
James Hughes

Noah Ortiz
>Altered Carbon is arguably better than Bladerunner 2049, yet audiences love it but critics think it's mediocre.
nah it's garish rubbish compared to br 2049
at best it is watchable
Nicholas Morales
If Rei fucks Tak while they're wearing the Ortega & Ryder sleeves respectively, is it still incest?
Jackson Taylor
Only like 5 people fight in the last ep and they've all been shown to know how to fight
Nolan Jenkins
>the boner inducing fight scene with Rei and Ortega
If you got a boner during that, you're a sad cunt. This is why GoT is still popular. Thirsty loser brainlets waiting for the next nude scene or graphic murder.
You're literally on Sup Forums. That shit is here and available and real every day if you're that desperate for a fix.
Gavin Howard
1-6 should've been the end for the adaptation of book 1. 7 - 10 should've been at least an original prelude to book 2 or a set-up for it. They really didn't need to do the stuff with Lizzie because she was just a plot device in the book. This is the probably the consensus amongst those who read the book and watched the TV adaptation. Book 2 is even more interesting because now we get to really see Kovacs in action for 90% of the time - he was with mercs and was fighting against other mercs with some Envoys and sentient AI robots with Martian ruins as a heavy focus.
Another consensus with novelfags is that the TV adaptation really fucked with Kovacs' character - in the book he's a 99% cold-hearted motherfucker that will shoot anyone that triggers him since he still has PTSD from his Envoy days and he usually just went in solo guns blazing against the bad guys. In the TV he's a whimpering phantom of his Envoy persona with a longing for his sister. The term 'Envoys' wasn't just thrown around and 'CTAC' shouldn't have been used to replace the Envoys. Envoys meant serious business and whenever they show up bodies are definitely gonna drop.
The show is definitely not better than BR and BR2049. BR2049 is just on a whole other level. AC is probably the best cyberpunk TV series in recent series though.
Ayden Barnes
But the super-machine body is the deus ex. Every cop/spec op would be using those for every operation. They'd live day-to-day in flesh sleeves, then get their robot on when they needed to fuck shit up.
Wasn't surprised to learn afterwards that it was an invention of the show and not from the book. Same with the spic's super-arm, which can't logically function as demonstrated. A 50kg girl can't throw a larger assailant against a wall without ripping her back, shoulder and possibly leg ligaments to pieces. It can block and crush. It can't lift if there isn't a super-body supporting it.
And every time she super-punched anybody or anything, the same bodily damage would have occurred and she, as a very light woman, would be thrown back by the impact (first law of physics).
Anthony Fisher
I think other then the last episode being unmitigated ass. One problem is they do too much too quickly.
Why does it matter that poor people don't get endless new bodies when you can live in the internet? If bio and cyber augments exist why aren't the meths/CTAC/Hired goons just hanging out in unkillable space-marine tier death machines? If synths exist why would anyone do anything remotely dangerous in frail human flesh?
Alot of TV shows fall into this trap when they try to show a different society but try and make it a little like ours to make it 'relatable'. You always have the break your world to make it work and it's almost never worth it.
Easton Kelly
>ortega >fighting like that throughout the whole series Leung jobbed so fucking hard it wasn't even funny. Their entire fight was absurd, as was everything Lizzie did.
Parker Hernandez
This. I'm not even a fan of the show and it was obvious that all these diversity-obsessed critics would otherwise have been creaming themselves over this shit.
Isaac Walker
>when you realize everyone is an AI larping as a human
William Wilson
Well, she got her ass beat, literally only won because her super arm allowed her to crush Leung's ankle, or did you miss the absolute pounding she was taking?
Adam Ortiz
> Why does it matter that poor people don't get endless new bodies when you can live in the internet?
You goddamn retard, the 'soul' is stored in a Stack and the Stack isn't connected to the internet. It's the same principle as data stored in a USB disk. Once a pleb's sleeve is damaged beyond repair, their Stack is on-hold forever until someone can resleeve them which means that once you get resleeved you're basically in-state of PTSD because your sleeve's brain needs to catch up with the information stored in the Stack.
> If bio and cyber augments exist why aren't the meths/CTAC/Hired goons just hanging out in unkillable space-marine tier death machines?
Bio and cyberaugments fucks up every sleeve and the persona wearing them and there's just too much stress to handle with those kind of equipments and they're banned in the first place because the UN told them so after they took down the entire rebellion in the other worlds.
>If synths exist why would anyone do anything remotely dangerous in frail human flesh?
Synths are basically template sleeves that doesn't have the same 'natural' feeling as sleeves - their 'human' senses are degraded by several factors. Imagine you're eating a chocolate ice cream but when you're in a synth it tastes like goddamn cardboard mush.
Jeremiah Sullivan
Everything is shot with a very shallow depth of field to cover up the low budget. If they put everything into focus you'd see it's just regular old 21st century settings.
