They have some episodes where they don't really find shit

They go to the worst places imaginable when it comes to hauntings - hospitals, hotels, prisons, etc. The episodes are like 8 or 12 hours of lockdown or so condensed into 40 minutes but some are implied to involve two or three days worth of investigation. They're bound to find something.
Plus their entire thing was to use actual provocation rather then just waiting for the ghosts to communicate.

aaron reveals his backstory in one of the episodes. basically, the demon from bobby mackey's music world followed him home and it tormented his fiance. she left him and magically when she left Aaron the hauntings stopped. the demon fulfilled its purpose in ruining aaron's life. now aaron is out for his revenge against all ghosts and things demonic.
