Why didn't Sauron put an orc or a locked door or something to guard the entrance to mount doom?

Or a sign outside that said
>Sauron's Doom & Gloom (DO NOT ENTER)

Because Sauron couldn't fathom someone actually destroying the ring.

>Formerly Morgoth's

what the fuck did he think they were doing with the ring? trying to give it back to him?

He didn't think Frodo would actually go throw the ring into the lava.

>Frodo wasn't going to destroy the ring and it only fell into the volcano by accident

Yes. Every attempt beforehand when someone acquired the ring it wound up fucking the owner in some capacity. Sauron sends out agents to try to get the ring back, but by its nature, the ring tends to fuck off and vanish. The absolutely last thing Sauron would expect would be for someone to not only overcome the mental bombardment of evil that the ring has, but be able to hoof it to fucking Mount Doom without getting assraped by Orcs or god knows what else.

lol if they did that everyone would break in

>Why didn't Sauron put an orc or a locked door or something to guard the entrance to mount doom?

because he secretly wanted his incorporeal torment to end

what if he did put two orcs there but they snuck off to anally rape each other with sword handles like they did it a million times before cause no one ever shows up there?

>Gollum saved the world by accident
Like pottery

Then why did he make it so difficult for them if they thought they would succumb to the ring's power

Kek

The idea that someone would seek to destroy the ring never entered Sauron's mind for a second. By it's nature, the ring seduces and bewitches those in proximity to it. The ring is all you want, all you can think about. A "normal" being like a Man or Elf goes from 0-100% corruption in a matter of weeks just from being near the damn thing. Boromir wasn't even holding the ring and it managed to corrupt him. It gets much worse depending on power level too.

Hobbits are so low powerlevel that the ring can't really tempt them, and even then Frodo doesn't actually destroy the ring, Gollum does on accident.

The Ring is basically a physical representation of an individuals deepest desires. It promises everything while giving nothing. Sauron simply assumes that nothing could have the will power to destroy the Ring.

This thread again.
It's been answered before, so user thinks he can stump some newcomers.

1) he is actively searching for the ring because having one of the nazgul find it would be the fastest way he gets it back.

2) he didnt really make it especially difficult to get to mount doom compared to say barad dur. you have to cross a shitton of lands where he either fights a war or has his powerbase in either scenario.

why didn't they just bait the Nazgul by tying up Boromir and slapping the ring onto his finger, then gank the witch king with an all female squad?

It doesn't really fuck off and vanish as much as it seeks out the greatest evil/power. That's why it was so easy to get it from gollum. The ring knew it would never reach Sauron as long as it was in his possession.

>why not put a orc at the door
Sam would wreck him, he took out an entire tower
>or a lock
Sam would wreck it

They had swords, why didnt they just smelt the ring in a forge.

Answer this man!

HE DID

HE LITERALLY HAD AN ENTIRE ARMY BLOCKING MOUNT DOOM GOD DAMN IT

FUCK'S SAKE, JACKSON SHOWED THAT IN THE MOVIE TOO

Hobbits are less susceptible to the ring's power,
because Hobbits crave much more wholesome things.

Sauron had to make cutbacks after the Isengard subsidiary went bust.

Let me add to this that I am unironically triggered and have an autistic meltdown every time you people invent your own plotholes that either arise from 1) Jackson's fuck ups or 2) your lack of awareness of what was actually happening. THERE WAS AN ENTIRE ARMY GUARDING THE MOUNTAIN. Sauron moved it to kill Aragorn and his army, and only because he was 100% certain that Aragorn had the ring. And also because he knew that no one could withstand the ring's temptation so why would they even try destroying it because it would always overpower its bearer.

he doesnt assume he knows.

i mean even Gollum tried to save the ring while being scorched by Magma.

youtube.com/watch?v=4KaOcX0mcxo

why didnt they just give the ring to a guy with no fingers

Do busy fucking your mom

The ring being destroyed was the only winning condition. It could have been kept away from Sauron but by the time it was found he didn't need it, he was posed to militarily conquer Middle-earth regardless.

So did Sauron knew that Frodo had a ring, because mouth of Sauron references to him?

No, Sauron believed that Aragorn had the ring. He knew that Gandalf was weirdly obsessed with Hobbits and figured that Frodo was sent by Gandalf as a spy.

I'm the only one who ever actually brings this up. I'm holding that if I can get anyone to pay attention to it then maybe the next time there's a LotR shitposting thread someone can do my work for me.

Mount Doom wasn't unguarded. You couldn't fly to it either because the ring couldn't be destroyed by dropping it into the volcano. Lava wouldn't harm it outside of the forge, which was inside of the mountain.
