What is the comfiest 90s show and why is it X-files?
What is the comfiest 90s show and why is it X-files?
It's X-Files
Watching Gillian Anderson's wardrobe change throughout the series was probably my favorite thing. In the beginning she's dressed in these seemingly oversized, matronly outfits that aren't very flattering and wears her hair up but you can tell she's a total fox.
By the end she's wearing form fitting business suits and has short hair and looks amazing. Fun to watch the change.

Look at her wardrobe now.
Oh I'm definitely in the camp that believes she is feeding off young men's semen to preserve her beauty forever, and is it working.
It's depressing how shitty these new seasons of the X-Files are compared to older ones. They jumped the shark and gone full into "HURR DRUMPF" mode. The show was never this politicized in previous seasons.
This is kind of cheating because it only ran for a handful of episodes but it's my pick if I wasn't choosing X-Files.

Every episode not made by Chris Carter has been pretty great so far, seasons 10 and 11.
Are you just mad because they made fun your idol Trump?
Convince me to watch this shit
...
Chris Carter and his hack writers need to stop whining about the 2016 election and move on. What happened to being a good entertainer instead of inserting your shitty political opinion into everything?
Spoiler alert: Being a good entertainer and inserting your political opinions are not mutually exclusive things.
X-Files has always been critical of the government, but making fun of the president is suddenly "inserting political opinions"? Seems to me you are just too immature to handle anything having to do with politics in general, without having an internal meltdown. Same thing happened with homeland, where suddenly there are bunch of Sup Forums retards here freaking out over "MUH LIBERAL PROPAGANDA IN TV SHOWS" as soon as ANYTHING political is depicted.
Everyone's hopping on the DRUMPF bandwagon, it's nothing special. It's also disappointing that a show which prides itself on uncovering the truth is pushing a Russian collusion conspiracy created by Hillary and pushed by the mainstream media.
>Everyone's hopping on the DRUMPF bandwagon
I mean, considering how retarded Trump acts, it's pretty hard not to.
>It's also disappointing that a show which prides itself on uncovering the truth is pushing a Russian collusion conspiracy
Yeah, because the "truth" is just obviously always what you want it to be, not what it actually is.
>conspiracy created by Hillary
kek
that scar where the aliens took her baby.
Man oh man, my Scully crush is still strong after more than 20 years.
At least science is reversing aging.
I already achieved... uh, satisfaction... today. Damn X-Files thread with sexy Gillian Anderson is making it hard to focus.
>X-Files thread with sexy Gillian Anderson is making it hard to focus.
Oh yeah?
Yeah, Scully is a sexy character. Not just because of the physical charms and intelligence, but also because you can tell there's some kind of fire and seductive weirdness simmering there. Either it comes from Gillian Anderson actually being some kind of sex freak, or she knows how to play it up.
Star Trek TNG, ultimate rewatchability and fun
I just watched a couple of new episodes.
my god, this season is fucking terrible.
abysmal.
I can't find anything positive about anything I have seen.
>Watching Gillian Anderson's wardrobe change throughout the series was probably my favorite thing.
it was interesting how they presented her as kind of a frumpy mom type in the first season then suddenly realized (maybe from fan mail) she's hot! lets dress her sexy.
comfy 90s.. definitely not x files, fucking shit had scary episodes
also later seasons were utter trash unwatchable shit tier garbage
maximum comfy would be up at midnight watching tales from the crypt keeper, as a kid, that was fucking awesome
Growing up in the 90s, watching this series was comfy af. Scully drained my balls more times then I can count...
yeah
>circlejerk
end yourself
where did you learn to read?
>his season is fucking terrible.
i respectfully disagree. The fake twilight zone episode and the one with skinner in nam were pretty good. The one with Langleys consciousness trapped in a computer could have been good , but they botched it.
>grand conspiracy within government
>entire show created around modes of control/production of truths/power
>not political
so conservatists/whatever are blind to the political unless you call the redneck sisterfucking racist hicks huh?
Well, I wouldn't be surprised if this thread is literally a virtual circlejerk at this point. It's Gillian Anderson, though.
I see.
It’s the X-Files and it’s because of the dynamic duo of a cast, the campiness of the stories, and the mystique of the unknown. I want to believe!
...
One of the things that are hot about Gillian Anderson is that it seems she actually likes to objectify herself in photo shoots and so on - she doesn't just do it for the publicity. I mean, maybe she's just good at acting like she likes it, but I get the impression she gets off on it.
damn
What is this? I like it. Is it for real?
Wow, sweet, lots of Gillian pics I still didn't have.
My scully folder just passed 400 items actually.

wait wauit wait wtf is going on?
F I N E W I N E
That 70s show.
from of of the first episodes of the revival. Its a flashback scene, but according to the guy she's talking to. It's baiting the audience into thinking he's an unreliable narrator
shutup faggot
Out of my way peasants, kino coming through
why was Xena such trash but hercules an awesome show? As a straight white male, I should've like Xena - hot amazon action - instead of the somewhat gay looking Hercules, but instead Hercules was a great wise character that solved things through intelligent and peaceful means despite being associated with a warrior demeanor, while Xena was this camp goofy show with kinda gross female characters
I think you need to go rewatch them, both shows are pretty damn goofy. Hercules is the goofier of the two, with Kevin Sorbo's wooden acting and fight scenes that look like they were choreographed by someone from the World Wrestling Federation.
Xena is darker, Lucy Lawless is a great actress, the villains were far more interesting, and the action much more exciting.
I love both shows, but Xena is easily the better of the two.
Hercules played its premise mostly straight while still having some fun with the setting. Xena didn't take its setting or premise remotely seriously, but it wasn't a full-blown comedy either, which made it unsatisfying overall.
>faggot
Why the homophobia?
I know that feel.
Gillian Anderson was my childhood crush and it still continues into adulthood
shutup nigger
...
Shut yo little bitch ass up
...
>watched Hercules all the time as a kid
>closest thing I ever had to an idol
>strive to be good person and help people
>probably one of the biggest factors in my development as a man
>playing God of War 3
>have to kill Hercules
>voiced by Kevin Sorbo
This hurt my soul.
Holy fuck, muh dick. Also here's a poorly shot video of her reading poetry as a teenager.
I used to think it was Xfiles too until I watched Twin Peaks
...
It's the opposite, Hercules is far more of a comedy than Xena.
I mean fuck, there was an episode where he gets turned into a pig, called "Porkules."
>You will never a anything like Gillian as a gf
the 90s were so rad
oh c'mon, "like Gillian" isn't necessarily too unattainable.
>it's a scully probing episode
Lies
man this was a fun episode. shame they couldn't commit to proper full seasons.
I have never even met anyone with her
> its a Dana, stressed out from dissecting alien fetuses all weenked, goes on a bender and sleeps with half of the third floor of the hoover building
>episode
Thoughts on S11 so far?
you just gotta believe
...
...
It was cooler before learning the truth.
The mystery of everything was what made this show so compelling in the early seasons.
>The truth, the truth! There's no truth. These men, they make it up as they go along.
The most self-aware line in the entire series.
Yeah, it was best when it kept the audience riding that edge of not being sure whether there were really ayylmaos or whether it was all some weird deep state experimentation or something else of that nature.
>those earth tones inside the great northern
>those nature shots
>Sheryl a CUTE
yeah i'm thinking it's comfy
You people are crazy. The original airing of Twin Peaks was the opposite of comfy.
GILLIAN PLEASE BE MY MOMMMYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!
...
I don't know
>YWN go to the Double R, get served pie by Shelly, and discuss the nature of being with Major Briggs
Why even live?
>Gillian Anderson has a crush on Ryan Gosling.
>The 45-year-old actress thinks the 'Blue Jasmine' star has a magnetic effect on people in a similar way to fellow Hollywood hunks Tom Hardy and Bradley Cooper, and admits she would love to share a love scene with him.
>Asked who she would like to star opposite in a romantic movie, she said: ''I do have a healthy appreciation for Ryan Gosling. I don't know what it is. I haven't met him, but I read something recently that said that from the moment he walked into a room, nobody could concentrate on anything else.
awful especially the crazy characters grind my ears they are so annoying, iked the last episode with the vietnam veterans
that episode where she gets a tattoo.
that's more of an example of how fashion trends changing as the show went on. that oversized look was popular in the early 90s
Why? It's the same show, they didn't air it out of order or anything like that. Sure, there was schedule bullshit near the end to get it canceled but it wasn't hard to check the schedule and find out.
>I can't keep up with Lynchkino the post
Remember. Twin Peaks predates The X-Files by a few years. I was not ready to be Lynched by mainstream network TV.
>"The World Spins" plays
>What is the comfiest 90s show
The first 2 seasons of this before they fucked it up by killing off the best character.
I would drink that bath water
...
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME?
If you wanted to have a gillian/scully thread, fine, but if this is an x-files thread please post some cute mulder/david too
...
this is never brought up again is it... shame
doesn't count same cinematic universe pic related
n-no homo
As much as I've always loved the X-Files, I think Northern Exposure deserves the title of "comfiest" 90s show.
