While an ending like this could've worked it ultimately didn't. Drayton had no buildup of having the mentality to actually go through with it, and the whole ending just came off as exactly what it was: Darabont taking the piss out of Stephen King for the lulz.
Threw me entirely out of the movie, and lessened the entire thing. If Mist actually built up to this or established Drayton as something besides a fairly average man trying to survive by this point, it could've been kino.
