3x3 thread
Other urls found in this thread:
user there are too many pussies here for "favorites" threads now. They have gone by the wayside unfortunately, here's a bump. I'll post mine in a bit.
I'm way too lazy to create one
-Goodfellas
-Rope
-A Clockwork Orange
-The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
-Taxi Driver
-Blue Velvet
-The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
-American Psycho
-Fargo
3x3 threads are my favorite on Sup Forums because there's actual film discussion (in between calling each other plebs) and I get a few new movies on my watch list. My bottom left pic was recommended to me from one of these threads.
For some reason I keep rewatching Rope, even though I don't think it's that great. It's pretty comfy I guess.
I've watched it many times too. The fact that the movie is basically just one giant scene is impressive. It's also impossible to dislike John Dall in the movie.

Good thread
Are these obscure or am I retarded for not recognizing them?
I wouldn't say they are that obscure.
...
Woah so this is the power of film school.
Don't know if I should laugh or be annoyed
im a pleb i don't recognize them, can someone help?
>some random faggot nigger's comment on the internet is relevant
the ones i recognize:
(1, 3) - mulholland drive
(2, 3) - stalker
(3, 1) - three colors: blue
it's just something I saw recently and was baffled by. some "random faggot nigger" can have an idiotic opinion on a film but this was being taught in academia.
...
>and that can be read as anal penetration.
if you are a gigantic faggot, sure
(1, 1) - Black Narcissus
(2, 2) - Fanny and Alexander
(3, 2) - Orpheus
Also
(1,2) in the mood for love
(2,1) love streams (not entirely sure)
What's bottom left?
yeah, (2, 1) is love streams. i can't identify the last one.
Lancelot du Lac
The Human Condition
...
thank you very much
I should update this, but this threads are once a month and I’m too lazy to do it now
i miss these threads
Are you guys able to tell what movie it is from an extreme wide shot? Because I'm not
Why are 99% of the films posted in here never discussed on Sup Forums? You would think if these were the favorite films of people who browse here that they would be discussed more frequently.
Gimme some recs similar (stylistically) to elevator to the gallows. It was a pretty cool film.
...
None of these pictures or shots are good. Get eyes.
Because now Sup Forums is only Black Panther and Star Wars
louisiana story!!
I remember that a tripfag named Deschi used to post in these threads. I had some quality discussions with him. Is he still around?
Because Sup Forums will spaz out and call you prententious.
wrong you pretentious faggot
...
You don't even know who Flaherty is, neither the significance of him.
jfc that is a high quality tuco
Always nearby like flies
why is there is zero arthouse discussion on Sup Forums yet the films are popular in these threads? you would think the same people posting ITT would discuss the films.
the closest thing you can get to arthouse film "discussion" on Sup Forums people listing directors or films they like without explaining why. i've seen people pat each other on the back about how good quality a thread was, when all they did was list names.
everyone knows who he is, he's very famous, but maybe not many people understand his significance
Aww, the triggered letterboxd baby thinks he's cool because he graduated from imdb last year. Sorry your taste isn't that obscure bucko!
>everyone knows who he is, he's very famous
It's because a lot of arthouse fags do watch quite a lot interesting stuuf, but are way too autistic to analyze movies or get into a proper discussion. Or they act pretentious because they are really just dumb and didn't understand what they have seen and just pretend they are patrician, believing looking and nice visuals makes them artists.
...
Good stuff user
Nice.
>letterboxd screenshot posted 5 seconds later
lmao exposed
Kiddy comments don't offend me. I don't care about obscurity. I'm pointing out that you don't know a single noteworthy quality about Flaherty, and I doubt you've seen a single of his works to completion
nanook has more watches than the terrorizers and taipei story combined, so yes, he's famous
You can't reverse and achieve dominance if you can't read, dumbfuck. You've been proven wrong. Time to go back.
i've seen all of his films except the land and elephant boy (not that you can call that a flaherty film)
btfo!
Love the Conversation
Love Barry Lyndon
Love Amadeus
Love Lawrence of Arabia
Love Taxi Driver
>Nanook has more watches than a chink
Not very hard to achieve, now is it. And what's the significance of that
Probably not a good suggestion at all but Day of the Jackal
nice i like Straight Time
>seen everything
You didn't even mention the other Flaherty work in the original image.
>seen
>seen
>seen
A monkey watches, a man thinks.
i've been on a streak of watching arthouse films recently and each time i watch one i start a thread here attempting to discuss a certain aspect of the film. i get max 6 - 8 replies before it dies.
>Not very hard to achieve
yeah but that's not the point, idiot
>And what's the significance of that
you've gone senile
Get some fucking taste if you're going to make these threads kid
I know that feel.
...
Another Invisible Fan. It really is a fun movie. What is top left and right?
That took long this time
Murder By Contract on the left and The Sniper on the right
That's because no one here watches art films, they just search on letterboxd for low rated films then make a grid and tug themselves off. Why waste your time watching things and forming your own opinions when you can act smug.
who the hell did that itt, stop strawmaning and just shut the fuck up
You don't know the significance of Flaherty, You've been caught. Time to pack your bags and leave, boys
jfc people... just stick to video games
>art films
That's a contradiction. How can a reproductive medium be art?
I already embarrassed you on discord, there's no need to further your humiliation.
here's some reading material for a beginner
>You don't know the significance of Flaherty
but i do, because unlike you i have actually watched his films and don't use him as a cheap rhetoric tool
>I already embarrassed you on discord
?
Don't switch from Flaherty. You don't know anything about him. You don't know anything about his methodology, and you don't know anything about his content.
>Bordwell
lol
The McDonalds of film "theory"
>but i do
Oh you do? Share, jimmy.
you can't even start a (non-solaris) Tarkovsky thread here
I'll always be better than all of you. I hate cinephiles, I detest film, I despise reddit.
flaherty is too empathic for autists like you to comprehend, i'm sorry, stick to Sup Forums
>cinephiles
Is their a gayer term?
Because if you make a thread about something no one responds. Last year I made a thread about Antonioni, literally not obscure at all, and it died after like 3 responses. No one here has seen hardly anything besides the very few that post here, and that's not enough to keep threads going
Its this too, even if a few people could keep it going it would get interrupted and derailed
See above. Sup Forums is no place for discussion. Anyone who watches "art films" seriously likely has interpretations of them as well but Sup Forums is hardly the platform for that
>empathy
How is Flaherty empathetic if he was using indigenous peoples for his own personal gain, exacting his own imprint of exploration
...
Do you have a lb?
>gayer
This circlejerk
No fuck off. Leave
>How is Flaherty empathetic if he was using indigenous peoples for his own personal gain, exacting his own imprint of exploration
wow, you almost tricked me there, i can tell you are very good at rhetoric!!
flaherty was never for personal gain, you already know this of course, but you'll never know empathy
>"art films"
There is no such thing as an art film
>empathy
You are weak and you will always be weak.
...
Hi nigger
>10 minutes
lol
