Watched 3 episodes of dr who
That shit is just awful, how can people like it?
It’s unfunny trashy and badly written
What the fuck

bless you user, I watched it when I was younger and so it took me a while to realise this. It's really a show you watch as a child and perhaps watch with your own children.

I would also say I liked the idea of the show rather than the execution. I kept watching only enjoying one or two episodes per season.

Which doctor?

which episodes did you watch? why exactly were they bad? discount the cancerous fanbase.

It's a kids show

Doctor Who is dead.

It't 95% corny shit but there are some truly great moments

I didn’t grew up with it, maybe that’s the point
I only heard good things about it , maybe I just expected too much
But it was horrible I expected more from a British production

Try Blink or Heaven Sent. They're good episodes.

Its good when you are 10 or so and it still is if you are an adult but watch an episode here and there for the nostalgia

I can’t exactly remember
But OPs picrel is in it and the check starring as nebula

>thinking tennant is bad
user, I...

At it's best it's 10/10, honestly some of my favorite episodes of all shows are in there.
But at it's worst it's fucking garbage.
Probably the least consistent show of all time.

>It’s unfunny trashy and badly written
oh boy.. you haven't seen the last season.
the first 6-7 seasons were top-tier so get fucked.

Watch S9E11 Heaven Sent

Series 6&7 are dreadful.

>first 6-7 seasons were top-tier
6 and 7 were the lowest point of the show by far

Ok I’ll check them out
Do I need some background info or can I just watch it?

Heaven Sent requires a fair bit of background knowledge but Blink you can go right into

still better than anything with Capaldi. Not his fault though.

These two are fairly standalone so they can be watched without knowing the context. Watch Blink first and if you like it then watch Heaven Sent.

Well David Tennant and Karen Gillan never shared a series, so you watched series 2/3/4 and Series 5/6/7

Capaldi's run had Heaven Sent and Extremis. Nothing in Smith's run was as good as those
Granted it also had some real lows but nothing as low as Smith's Silence/River Song/Doctor's Death/Cracks in Time/Gallifrey never-ending mystery box that got totally out of control. I still don't understand a single thing that happened in that entire 'arc'.

I disagree. His last series was pretty bad but his first 2 were a nice change of pace and more experimental than usual.

heaven sent wass godly.
Is extremis worth it?
I gave up on the last season.
Do i need to watch the other eps too?

Extremis is a great episode. The next two episodes (It's a three-parter) are pretty meh but there's nothing really stopping you watching it as a standalone.
Other than that, Oxygen and the finale two-parter were pretty good. And the Christmas regeneration episode was great.

thanks and nice trips.
I just have lost connection with the show and who is a conglomerate of drama and personas so i cant keep up

all memes aside, dr who is the most reddit thing ever produced by a human

Twice Upon a Time was awful.

>CGI worse than Tennant's regeneration story, which came out 6 years earlier (That glass monstrosity, and the terrible regeneration effect)
>Literally nothing happens in the story. Moffat wanks over the Doctor like he does every few episodes.
>Yet another hamfisted tribute to the Brigadier
>The first Doctor is written by someone who knew nothing about the first Doctor.
>The thirteenth Doctor's first moments were the awful (She presses a button, the TARDIS explodes, and she falls into a greenscreen)

Yeah I only recently caught up after giving up during Smiths run.
I think they're going for another full reboot with 13 the way they did with 11. Not gonna be any companions or plotlines carried between them so it should be pretty easy to get back in to. Assuming the new writer isn't a total hack like Moffatt.

that would be br2049. this is more tumblr.

im not relaly hopeful.
The showrunner seems like a bigger poopyhead than even moffat was and the whole wymyn wank will be shoved down everyones throat every 2 seconds as far as i can see

Chibnall was a great showrunner and writer for Broadchurch, but his Doctor Who episode are all shit (Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and The Power of Three have some great Mark Williams moments in them though.)

Watched it with a chick I was hooking up with, she showed me her favorite episodes. The angels one and the Van Gough one. It was lame and boring, I get what they're going for, but I think it appeals much more to chicks. Like black mirror and other vapid tv shows.

Moffatt's old episodes were all great though, before he became the showrunner and it all went tits up. Maybe it will be the opposite with Chibnall.

You're better off watching 70's Who if you want anything good. That said those two episodes are hardly representative of the show today.

Love & Monsters is the absolute pinnacle of television

Pure kino

la luz extinguido...

Did the writers honestly believe that England was "more black" in the past?? I can't tell if this was supposed to be a joke or not.

>tfw remember submitting a monster concept in the blue peter competition

Can't find the direct quote but The Moff said something about including minorities in historical settings was his way of 'making the past better' or something to that effect

Found it
>We've kind of got to tell a lie. We'll go back into history and there will be black people where, historically, there wouldn't have been, and we won't dwell on that.
>We'll say, 'To hell with it, this is the imaginary, better version of the world. By believing in it, we'll summon it forth'.

Skip any episode set in modern day England and the show becomes a lot better. Theres a few episodes that are 10/10 scifi horror kino, great television

I've tried watching old Who and even if you ignore the low budget effects the pacing of those episodes is horrible. After being accustomed to today's TV those 7-8 parter episodes are unwatchable. Are there any old Who episodes you can recommend to prove me wrong?

Just watch the episodes written by Moffat, top fan favorite charts of Who post 2005 include mostly his. Honestly.

Except for Midnight: this episode is surprisingly good for a "never watched Who before" person.

Moffat said that since young children are impressionable he wants to brainwash them via shows like this taking place in historical periods, where every other character is black. Yes, even though there are multiple episodes where racial differences during the time period is actually a theme, because Moffat is a fucking cucked idiot.

Damn that Family of Blood double-ep was great

Erm. Moffat didn't write those episodes, and besides this 2 parter was pretty good.

I want to re-watch it now.

Doctor Who is like 99% shit.
But that 1% is fucking EXCELLENT
And I say that as a fan

Any of the first couple of Dalek serials, especially the first one and genesis of the daleks.
Practically any Tom Baker story.
The Mutants, Jon Pertwee.

That was an example of "it was a different time" done right though

>Moffat
He's the worst writer on the show after Gatis.
