This is the perfect example of how dishonest critics are. Currently 100% RT score, while being even worse than Iron Fist, or essentially any generic Netflix capeshit title. Essentially if you make a show or movie based around blacks, it is beyond criticism

Watched the pilot and liked it. Nothing groundbreaking but pretty well done. I'm glad it doesn't make the mc some thug and as an honest man who wants to do the right thing. It's good to see black guys who are strong fathers who protect their families. Plus James Remar is fun to watch.

TV show reviews are really inflated in general though. Way worse than movies even. For example Daredevil was absolute unwatchable garbage but the critics swooned over it.

It's an entertaining show, but the pacing is slow and it's just Black Lightning fighting armed thugs.

Maybe I'm a brainlet, but it could use some actual villains.

I'm only watching it because of James Remar. He looked real good this week in that leather jacket. The shows alright, but boy does it preach. Funny how the three homophobes were white guys in suits, in a black majority city. What would've made sense is them being mafia affiliated. Lesbian bars are on a decline(irl), to keep it open, they took a loan from them, and they came to collect.

It’s not bad, but not groundbreaking. Easily better than Iron Fist and is more consistent than Luke Cage.

What's with this distinct CW look that all their shows have?
Even with this show, it's supposed to be a ghetto, a bad neighbourhood, where crime reigns, yet everything looks nice, no crack addicted thugs but people who could work anywhere, all the ladies look like they just came out from a beauty salon and all the men are always perfectly shaved and dress nicely. Same problem I had with Arrow and the Flash.

it's a mess tonally, has the principal (and main character!) creepily interrogate a student's shower habits, and then have that student be paralyzed 15 minutes later, and then the next episode have him callously tell his daughter that the rent-a-nurses are good enough and that she needs to focus on her running - wasting time at a dumb march is ok though, as is hanging out at clubs with creepy drug dealers

The show highlights afucking high school principal who was an ex Olympic athlete and his brain surgeon wife. They aren’t exactly gonna be living in the ghetto.
