The red dots are bases and other projects. Russia, everything is formed differently, not destroyed. Japan is connected to the mainland, a chunk of Africa is connected to SA and leaves a trail, Greenland, etc.

That's not an apocalypse, just a map that shows some bad stuff happened (or that geography is just different.) Humans are still clearly around and thriving, as is the same nature. Apocalypse kind of needs things to die off.
